Bought in 2025. Customer attention is great but boy do they lie, lie, lie!!!! We were told so many good things about our $2,400 top load Speed Queen Washer that were false. The agitator does not agitate it slides thru clothes without moving them, so nothing gets moved or cleaned. Everything is same position going in and coming out of this washer. Everything we asked for in a washer was ignored and we believe we were sold a unit that they needed to get rid of. Don't trust this business. Repairman told us this washer unit is a 2021 and not a 2025. We are now stuck and they will not discuss the matter. read more

My faith in Mays Munroe was restored yesterday when Ian Murphy greeted me like a valued customer. He didn't know me. Or my 29 1/2 yrs as a loyal customer purchasing every major kitchen and laundry room appliance plus mattresses. Ian listened to my needs and budget, offered several good options, going above and beyond. I also noticed some familiar faces, none of which looked happy to be there. One man was sighing with frustration at something, and the women looked mad at the world. Not a happy workplace. Other customers have noted same. When the family members assisted me in the past, it was with disinterest, seemingly bored, whether a 10K fridge, a new Bosch, or w/d set. Why did I continue spending my money there? Because they are a local, family-owned company and I am committed to standing by those companies best I am able. Yesterday, I was truly reluctant to walk in, but I am so glad I did. DO NOT IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS HERE! THEY ARE NOT EXAGGERATED! I wanted to give this local company a chance. I saw some of the bad reviews here, but I figured it was a vocal minority. I gave Mays-Munroe (M-M) a chance and all I can say is STAY AWAY. It happened to me, it happened to my fellow reviewers here, and it will likely happen to you too! I sent a version of this review to M-M two weeks ago, hoping that they might decide to take my problem seriously. They didnʻt reply, so here I am. This is long, but if you are considering using M-M to make a major purchase, I urge you to read until the end. Iʻm a first-time homeowner, and I was excited to make my first brand new appliance purchase. Rather than going to a big box store, I decided to go with a local store where I could establish a relationship that would hopefully last throughout the years as I updated my house, either when things broke or I simply wanted an upgrade. The refrigerator in my house was slowly breaking down, and it became clear that I would need a new one soon, so I drove over to M-M. I had a lovely in-store experience. The woman who helped me was a member of the Munroe family (I thought that was a good a sign--how wrong I was!). She seemed quite knowledgeable and talked me through my options. She asked carefully considered questions, and we found exactly what I was looking for. It ended up being a Whirlpool for a decent price. (White with a freezer on top. Not exactly trendy, but itʻs what I wanted.) It was delivered and set up within a reasonable timeframe. The day after the delivery, I discovered that my freezer was full of solid ice. It turned out the ice maker had been improperly installed, and it was leaking water continuously, leading to the accumulation of a large solid ice mass. I called Mays-Munroe, and a serviceman was here within a couple of days, and he was able to identify and fix the problem. Thatʻs fine, mistakes happen. But over the next few days, a problem that would turn out to be much more serious began to develop. The refrigerator began making a loud sound thatʻs hard to describe, kind of like a blend of hissing and gurgling. Iʻm not talking about the general loud background buzz--this is an additional sound that happens at the same time. It happens nonstop for about 3 hours, then stops for about an hour and a half, then starts up again for another 3 hours or so, etc. The sound is so loud that I canʻt concentrate when itʻs happening. My house is small, and my kitchen is adjacent to my living room and my office. I canʻt read in my living room anymore because the noise is so loud and erratic that I canʻt focus on the page in front of me. I work from home, and now I canʻt work unless my office door is closed and I have music playing, which I hate, because otherwise the erratic noise makes it impossible for me to concentrate. In short, this refrigerator has ruined my ability to enjoy my own home in peace and quiet. With anything else I do, the noise is there. It never fades into the background. I never stop noticing it for a moment. I called M-M again to describe the issue, and a different serviceman came over. He was unable to identify the source or cause of the noise. I took a video of the refrigerator while it was making the noise, and I brought it to the store to play for the saleswoman. She seemed shocked and said that she had never in her life heard any refrigerator make a noise like that. At that point, I was relieved that I had gone with a local company, because it seemed like she recognized the defect in the product, and I was sure that M-M would make it right. Long story short (and in spite of what Iʻm about to write, this is truly the short version), that hasnʻt happened. Someone from "the A-Team" (Iʻm still not sure exactly who they are) came over. A woman came inside, stood here for literally 90 seconds, said "thatʻs normal" and left. Since then, I canʻt get them to return my calls or text messages. I reached out to M-M again. I received back what essentially read like a break-up text. "At this time, the Whirlpool companion declined to authorize any trade out of the unit. My only other suggestion would be to call Whirlpool directly and express your concerns. We asked for a concession on the unit due to your dissatisfaction, but it was rejected. Perhaps you would have better luck as the consumer." I asked whoever was texting me if they would mind asking my saleswoman to call me if she was in the store. (It was a Friday.) The person said that they sent her an email asking her to call me. I never heard from Mays-Munroe again. So now Iʻm stuck with a fridge thatʻs making my house unbearable for me to be in. Iʻm going to have to sell my brand new fridge that I paid $1,150 for at fire-sale prices, because no one wants to buy a used fridge (even if itʻs brand new), and I have no ability to get it out of my house. DO NOT USE MAYS-MUNROE EVER! IT HAPPENED TO US AND IT CAN AND WILL HAPPEN TO YOU TOO! read more

I've used Mays-Munroe Appliance to purchase a Whirlpool refrigerator without issues. I'm sorry this is so long, but I really wanted to enter the facts. My expectations obviously were too high as a repeat Mays-Munroe Appliance customer. I paid for a new LG washer on 6/3/2024 which was estimated arrival/delivery on 7/6/2024. The washer was delivered on 7/6/2024, but it was a 'scratch and dent' and not NEW. In fact, it appeared to be on the truck in-line with other appliances that were picked up from other customer locations for disposal. Maybe it was my gut feeling, but I knew when I was asked for 'wipes' to clean the unit, this was the unit in their store waiting on a repair part. Of course, I didn't accept the delivery and I called to ask what time does the store close and that I would be coming in today for a credit refund. Now you may ask, how did I know there was a broken unit in their store? I had called a few days concern about the washer arrival timeline. The EXP date on my sales receipt was 07/03/2024. The sales associate I spoke with indicated that they had the same LG model I ordered in the store and would follow up to determine why that washer wasn't sold. The next day the sales associate whom I completed the sale explained that he couldn't sell that washer because it was defective and needed a part. Going so far to say, he was sure that I wouldn't want water all over the floor. In addition, he also confirmed that the washer I was to receive would be new. I started getting an uneasy feeling that I wasn't receiving the truth. I've been in the store before and have been greeted warmly. This time I was greeted with silence. Normally, a sales associate would ask if one needed assistance but this time I was handed off to someone else in the store to process the refund. I advised him that I needed a credit refund on the washer as I REFUSED to accept delivery of the unit because: 1) The steel plate is held together with screws. Although all screws are in the unit, the steel plate has one that is broken. So, you have a plate over a screw that is open/unattached on one side, 2) Upper corner, the plastic corner is broken with visible access to inside the unit and 3) the front of the unit is scratched and dented. To add insult to injury, the person issuing the credit refund insisted that the unit was new because it was Wrapped in Plastic and he watch them load it on the truck. I stated to him that this was Not a New Unit and I proceeded to show him the timestamp images captured on my phone. After viewing the images, I wasn't surprised when he attempted to blame the delivery guys for all damages. He missed an opportunity to be honest and hold the company accountable for this deception. I also advised him that in the future, deliver new in the box, unbox at customer location for inspection by all and once installed, the customer will accept if there aren't any issues. I mentioned that anyone can put plastic around a unit and call it new, however the scratches and dents, broken plastic at the top and the steel plate unattached validated to me that this was not a new unit. I had a great first-time customer experience when I purchased my refrigerator, not sure why Mays-Munroe would attempt to deceive/defraud on the washer. I do know going forward, I will not be a repeat Mays-Munroe Appliance customer because I find this type of service unethical. Please see images attached (highlighted in yellow) read more

I researched for a new washer and then gave Mays-Munroe a call to see what they could do about exactly what I wanted. Spoke with Ben on the phone at 5:00 P.M. about a specific LG washer. He said he had a brand new one in stock. Other stores were order-only. I asked him if he could price-match an online price. He said yes and gave me a time to come by the next day and buy the washer at his offered price. I showed up at lunch-time and Ben was understandably at lunch. However, Cedric stepped in and helped both Ben and I by expertly completing my purchase and even made sure I got as much advantage as possible from LG. Cedric and the warehouse man loaded my washer into my truck, made sure I have all my paperwork, and even made sure my washer is free from any shipping damages or otherwise. I called back after I got home with some questions and Cedric explained everything to my satisfaction. I installed my new washer and it works Great and that's why I'm leaving this Glowing review. My dearly departed grandparents, who owned and operated their own business for about 30 years here in Tallahassee, were customers of Mays-Munroe and Mays-Munroe has certainly earned my patronage as well. I needed to buy a new downdraft fan for my kitchen. The staff was so friendly and Ben was able to arrange the purchase and installation in short order. When Scott arrived to install the fan, it was discovered that I would need to purchase an new stove instead. Ben credited my account and was able to order the new downdraft stove. I purchased a Miele dual powered range and took delivery December of 2022, was so excited to get it. I would not send my most hated person to this establishment. If you are reading this review BEWARE. I have had numerous issues and when i called i was ignored, not only was i ignored but then i was told they did not have anyone that was a certified Miele technician. after a lot of back and forth finally got a repairman from Pensacola 6 hour away. He Came had to order parts so another 2 months so now we are in November of 23. While he was here he broke 2 Screws and the control now will not work. after calling and going to the store still no call backs, no concern NOTHING. we are now at the end of March 2024. You can see that i havent written any nasty reviews but I AM OVER IT. MAYBE THIS WILL GET THEIR ATTENTION. read more

We bought a rather expensive stove two years ago. Since then, we have had intermittent problems with the oven not working and the settings not remaining set. Thanksgiving 2022 will be great ~~ most of our household appliances were purchased at Mays-Munroe because of the tv ads when we first moved to Tallahassee in 1996. I have bought all of my major appliances from Mays-Munroe for years. Recently, I needed to purchase a new microwave/convection oven and gas range as my old appliances could not be repaired. The folks in the sales office were great - Cedric, Mike and a guy whose name I forget. They also had great folks to install the appliances - Mark Goodwin with Unlimited Installs and Brinston Wright with Stone G.O.A.T. They were all wonderful. McNeill Plumbing also handled the gas. Our washer died. Called Mays Munroe Service. Cheerful, efficient, sweet Sandy set up an immediate appointment. Thomas came out the next day and diagnosed the problem which required a new part. Robert , Maintence Supervisor and Trainer of all Service Staff, called me to share the part price and timeline for delivery. Fortunately, the part arrived on time. Sandy called to schedule the part replacement. Thomas came to the house, replaced the part and in no time had the washer humming. Now two wash days later, we couldn't be happier. Robert, Thomas and Sandy are first class. No better service anywhere than what is provided by those three plus they are so sweet and fun to interact with in every contact. Let's face it, buying appliances is one of the bigger purchases you make in life so getting it right is important. I chose Mays Munroe because they are local, their focus is appliances, and they provide awesome customer service. Mike Munroe was personable and knowledgeable about products helping me make the best decision for me so I chose a GE range based on his advice. This Christmas, inside the oven area my "reliable" GE range put on a light show worthy of the Fourth of July...just 2 months out of warranty, ugh! Mike said he'd help us with GE if need be and gave me their customer relations number. After hearing about our experience, GE made a service call free of charge, provided us with $75 towards an induction cook plate and assessed the range as "must be replaced". Due to Covid, replacements were limited BUT, because Mike looked up production, I was able work with GE to get the exact replacement range by mid January. I am so glad I went with Mays Munroe and GE! Thank you Mike for awesome customer service! I will be back! read more

Horrible service. I'll NEVER, ever, buy here again. For 22 years I bought appliances from them with their big sales pitch being, "We are local and offer much better service than the big boys across the street." I could have saved $150 to $200 "across the street" every time, but bought local. Less than four years ago I bought a refrigerator from them. Within 18 months the freezer fan motor went out and had to be replaced. It happened again 14 months later ($125 each time) and happened again eight months later. They told me the part had a one-year warranty, but not the labor. They tried to get GE to replace the unit but GE only offered a $350 credit towards another "lemon." Mays-Munroe offered nothing, plus I went to the store three times to discuss. Every time they said, "We will call you tomorrow; that never happened." Totally unacceptable, plus one employee was just flat-out rude to me. Big promises never delivered upon. I'll shop "the big boys" next time. read more

We have had two good experiences with Mays-Monroe but this go around, purchasing three new appliances for our kitchen, has been rather disappointing. There has been one miscommunication after another resulting in frustration. The fridge was never installed as promised and the microwave/exhaust fan installer had to make two visits (because of misunderstanding from the sales folks). The salesman promised the world but didn't deliver and we are disappointed because it wasn't our experience previously. read more

Mays-Munroe came and could not repair but replaced my refrigerator icemaker. During the repair process the repairman messed up (broke) my digital thermometer controls. He could not fix it but said he would come back. They never fixed the control which allows me to set and see the temperature in my freezer and refrigerator. I tried for over a month with visits and letter to them. In my opinion, they no longer deserve even a one star rating. Beware of this business! read more

We dealt with dishonesty and feel an overall dissatisfaction with service from the moment of an on site inspection by techs. (sent and recommended by Mays-Munroe) whose assessment then caused us (THE CUSTOMER) to buy an appliance that caused greater modification and REMODELING of the kitchen space, to then receive both an oven hood and range scratched, dented and damaged in transit and finally to be told that WE have to activate the warranty because we allowed installation! When my refrigerator stopped working, I called to schedule a service call, I was told they would not come out to look at it because the refrigerator had not been purchased there and it was not worth it to them to make the trip.
