I was given MRSA from a pedicure on 2/28. they did reimburse me for my dr visits and pedicure. my nail still looks awful from the infection that was given to me months later. can't get a reg pedicure ever soundly again w fear for it to happen again. can't get light colors bc of what my nail looks like. the general manager was taking it seriously and was who sent a refund. my last two times my nail had no color on them i sent a pic of how awful my nails looks bc of them giving g me Mrsa. First time here, five min drive from my house. Employees are all very friendly. I really enjoyed pedicure. They massage your feet and legs. Also used stone too. Reg pedicure was 27 but worth it!! My mom got the lemon spa pedicure $55 and I think just regular pedicure is worth it. The girl asked what shape I wanted and helped me choose color because I was struggling between two, she was patient and nice. Went here for the first time as a walk in for a manicure and pedicure with my baby cousin. They have kids pricing up to age 5. They had a few other customers and were still able to take us both immediately. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially with a young child as a customer. I had a nail break on me around 5pm on a Sunday night right before a big Conference I had to attend. There was no way I could allow my hands to present Jewelry in front of my colleagues in that condition! So I drove around praying that I could find a Salon open. Most of them were either closed already or had techs that turned me away unapologetically. Janet and her team were also already in the process of closing when I begged them to just do the one nail for me and she kindly agreed. This is a new salon that my mom and I decided to try for our pedicures. We are definitely happy that we did. Everyone is so kind and skilled. My only wish is that the standard massage was a tad longer. I understand that you can pay more to add more time, but adding at least a few more mins would definitely be amazing. Ehh let's just say that I probably won't be back. First of all, I think I got completely played paying $30 for a gel manicure. I should have known something was off when I paid more than i do in NYC. Next, my manicurist was really slow. At first I was like maybe I'm just used to NY and this is a good thing that they are taking their time. NOPE. Wrong. At the end of the day it took a lot longer than necessary an my gel didn't last as long. The only thing I did like was that they were patient taking off the gel I came in with. They took the time to wait until it came off with the remover/cotton/foil combo and didn't have to scrape any off. I'll stick to my spot in NY or if I am in jersey and have to go somewhere I won't wait until Sunday. This was one of the places in my area that was actually open then. read more

I have mixed reviews about this place. I did not make an appointment, I walked in at about 4:30 on a Tuesday and was taken right away. The restaurant has a very old feel and needs some upgrading, but the staff was friendly. The manicure was decent, but the massage during the pedicure was better than most I have had. She really took her time. Sone down fall is that they use paper towels to separate your toes instead of the foam seperators and they don't have as many color choices as other nail salons. There is also no place to put your purse next to you while getting a mani or pedi which made me a little uneasy about leaving my purse out of my own reach. read more

I am currently getting a pedicure at Maywood Nails because the place I usually frequent is too far from where I live and I was hoping to find a place closer... I didn't. I have very dry feet and need someone to spend a bit of time on the dry patches. The woman who did my pedicure rushed through the exfoliation part and when I asked her to address the dry patches, she told me "we don't do that here." Huh? This is a nail place. I would have been just like okay, this place doesn't do stuff like that (although that would be kind of weird), except the lady in the pedicure seat next to me WAS getting her dry patches addressed. I guess I'll continue driving to Totowa to get my pedicures. On a positive note, the nails themselves look really nice. So if you don't have dry feet, you may like this place. read more

I go here for gel manicures and pedicures. The place I used to go to hiked up their places so I was desperate on finding a lower priced place but didn't wanna risk quality of service. I initially walked in and I wasn't impressed by any nice decor or modern layout so I was unsure of what I just got myself into but let me tell you, this place is great. They take their time with pedicure which not too many places too. From exfoliating to massaging to using a hot stone and taking their time to cut my cuticles just right they really made sure to do a great job. My legs were so relaxed after the pedicure was done and my nails were shaped and polished so nicely and neatly. They were even very sensitive to my ingrown toenails! For gel manicures, they have a pretty solid color variety (i've seen more and I've seen less at other places). There is the option of nail art if you'd like. I know you're supposed to get them done every 2 weeks before they chip but so far it's been 27 days (I've been too busy to get them done lately) and there is ZERO lifting or chipping on my nails! They really know what they're doing. Also, all the ladies here are super nice! I've never been given attitude or anything other than great customer service. For great service at an affordable price, this is my go-to place. read more

It is open on Sundays!!! My friend and I normally go to another nail place when I visit, but it's closed on Sundays, so when we found out Maywood Nails was open we jumped at the chance to get some pampering done on a Sunday. My friend got the mani-pedi and it was $29. They really take their time, especially with their pedicures! I wish I would have gotten one, but I opted for a manicure and a 10 minute massage. The manicure was only $10 and it was great! It seemed to dry faster than at other nail places which was awesome since I had to pack up and leave. It lasted a little longer than typical manicures too! The massage was nice and relaxing and the woman really got into my knots which was amazing for only a chair massage. $10 bucks for 10mins you can't beat it! I've gone to Maywood Nails twice. Upon my first visit I felt it was a reliable place to go to for a decent mani/pedi. I called ahead to make sure they would be able to take me within the hour. I usually go to trendier places so the decor of this place seemed a little outdated to me. They also did not have much variety of polish colors .But the employees took good hygiene seriously- using cleaned tools and wiping up areas with disinfectant after each customer. My manicure was done by the owner. It was good but my nails could've been filed down to a smoother finish. Two Hispanic women run the pedicure station. The woman who did my toes did a great job and from what I could tell, the other woman seemed very capable and thorough as well. At my second visit, the same woman did my pedicure and I was not disappointed. However, I was very disappointed with the lady who did my manicure. She was very shaky and hesitated a lot. She hacked at my cuticles roughly- I actually got a cut which she somehow failed to notice and so did not apologize for. I asked her to cut my nails which she did followed by a terrible filing/shaping job. Her application of the nail polish was not much better- the coats were very uneven and often strayed onto the surrounding skin. She used a quick dry top coat but she slathered it on so heavy that it dripped to the sides so that as it dried it felt like my fingertips had glue over them. I couldn't wait to run out of there and take it all off when I got home. Needless to say, I did not leave a tip. To sum it up, go there for a pedicure if that's the only place to go. If you are going to get a manicure, get it from the owner. They use a very rough file though so the nail finish will probably not be smooth. Personally, I will not be going here again. read more

I walked in here on a Sunday afternoon for a manicure/pedicure. I did come unannounced but it was Sunday at four and they closed at six. As soon as I walked in the lady (the owner I believe) seemed a little uncomfortable. I didn't then nor do I now understand her facial expression -she just looked a little uncomfortable. I only mention this because mostly when I go to other Chinese nail salons they're very enthusiastic when someone walks in or leaves. Usually part of the charm of these types of Salons is that everyone yells GOODBYE or Hello! It just was weird that she was silent, didn't smile and looked like uncomfortable when I was a customer walking in. I told her what I was there for and looked around- this was my first visit. She picked up an appointment pad-I kid you not- and started studying it intently. As I was looking around I noticed there were two female customers sitting in the pedicure chairs and one female customer getting a manicure- there was also another woman under the dryer for her nails. That was it- two pedicures and one manicure already in progress. The owner put down the "appointment book" and said she was sorry they couldn't do that right now. huh? She told me to come back in an hour and 15 minutes at 5:15-forty five minutes before they closed! I was stunned. I still don't get why they acted that way, the one girl was halfway through her manicure. Fifteen minutes and I could have just gotten my manicure first and then waited for a pedicure- these salons (other Asian owned nail salons) are usually very accommodating- I've been told 15 to twenty minutes when they've been jammed packed. So many other better places to go where they treat you nicely and don't usher you out of the store. I didn't go back so I didn't get to sample their handiwork- but it's small place and the owner was rude so I don't have high hopes. I'd have given it two stars just because it's open Sunday and maybe a good place to go in a pinch but turning away business makes no sense to me. read more
