The beef was exactly what I expected, shrimp was decent, but the chicken definitely exceeded my expectations. Really well seasoned and not dry at all. Tbh I think I would have given it 5 stars, but it is a little pricy for Mexican food in Klamath, so value wise taking off a star. Mexican cuisine is a must for me, but these especially were some great flavors I discovered today! The mole was just the perfect touch of sweet and spicy, and I adored the shredded beef! A huge turnaround from plain ground beef! Rice and beans were good pairings always with normal consistency and texture. Flan for dessert was the fairytale ending, although it could have been more sturdy. Classic Spanish accordion tunes with a kind waitress. We did wait about 15-20 min for our check but it may have been because the waitress wanted to bring us some candy treats to go. read more

Update: I've eaten at Mazatlan several times since this last review over five years ago. To be honest the food has been pretty decent since then overall. Tonight, we must remember some important current economic factors, the most important of which is the skyrocketing price of beef. This translates into basically a rice and bean stuffed burrito sold at a ranchero beef burrito price. Not cool and disappointing. I understand the forces behind a rice And bean burrito--but that didn't help the disappointment somehow. The report on a plate of ranchero nachos was ok. Again, a severe dearth of meat, but still tasty. Sad times. read more

The food was okay, but not anything worth getting hooked on. The reason for a low review is the service. I was seated and he just walked away. Then, I got chips and salsa. I tried to order but she said "In a minute." She came and sat a glass of water down and walked away without a word. She walked past my booth twice without acknowledging me sitting there. I was 2/3 through the chips when a different guy finally took my order. No one seemed to know how to smile at customers. All just bored with their job? I never did see the actual bill because I had to hold out my credit card to signal I was ready to leave. Also, they charge extra to use a card. I haven't seen that in a while.... Many things to say about Mazatlan...it's my favorite spot with my baby! Great atmosphere, comfortable seating. Friendly, attentive wait staff that recognize you and make you feel welcomed. And you just never feel like you're being rushed out. Nice drink selection (may need to ask for a full shot at times). Faves: Jalapeño poppers and queso jalapeños. Molcajete is pretty awesome, too...Just take it home, nibble at bits of it cold and tell me you don't like it. The flavors just blend into each other in a heavenly way! read more

My favorite Mexican food! All the employees that work in the bar are great and every dish we've ordered has been fantastic. Stopped here for dinner after a long drive heading south from Washington. Had room in the back for us to park our rig. We were seated and given a bowl of chips and salsa. We ordered and quickly went through our bowl of chips. A lady came over and asked if we wanted more and we told her yes. She brought another bowl. Then came out food. 1 plate was a chicken enchilda with beans and rice, the other a ground beef taco with rice and beans. We were glad that we both got refried beans as we remembered there was a choice of beans and we were not asked. So, the food......disappointing. The rice was dry and tasted like it came from a box. I did like the beans. The enchilada was dry and the taco was underwhelming--the shell overcooked. The lady came over again asking if we wanted more water--we said yes and asked for more chips and salsa. This is because the bowl is small--one of those bamboo bowls that I call a "Gilligan" bowl as they look like something Maryann or Ginger would've used to serve everyone on Gilligan's Island. She brought the water, but not the chips and salsa. When our server came over we then asked him for a refill on chips and salsa---said he'd bring them--then evidently "forgot." Okay, so first of all, let me just say THIS PLACE IS GREAT. Like, could I even ask for better? Well, yes, technically I could (and I usually do), but that's beside the point. The food? Incredible. First time dining at Mazatlan. It is an impressive restaurant, looked like it was renovated very recently. Friendly staff and our server, Maria was so sweet and nice. Their $4 margaritas were strong and oh so good. My favorite was the melon-rita. Their lunch specials are very affordable and servings were huge! A serving can easily feed 2 adults. Everything we ordered from the deluxe shredded beef burrito, deluxe chicken burrito, chicken chimichanga and kid's quesadilla were delicious. The free chips and salsa were good too btw. If you're feeling adventurous, ask for the spicy salsa. The molcajete looked really good too. Will have to try that next time. They offer military discount as well which was really nice. We'll definitely be back the next time we are in town. read more

If you are looking to save a dollar or two - come and order off the Lunch Menu or in the afternoon for the Happy Hour Menu. The main menu is always available. When you have a choice - order the shredded beef. Our favorites: Enchiladas ale Crema - chicken enchiladas covered with sour cream & Parmesan cheese. Street Tacos with Asada, onions & cilantro, Chile Colorado, Burrito Express, shredded beef flautas, & chicken tortilla soup! I recommend this over the kitchen-made guac, which I found to have an odd taste: as if Italian parsley were used instead of cilantro. It was a leafy green problem flavor: not gross, but not great. The vegetarian fajitas are out of this world (order them without sour cream/cheese to make them vegan). I was shocked to be sitting in a restaurant in Klamath Falls only to find myself wiggling with glee and proclaiming, "these are some of the best fajitas I've ever had!" Broccoli, cauliflower, green pepper, red pepper, mushroom, and onion chargrilled with something sweet and citrusy in the sauce. OMG. The red rice is fresh and fluffy. The staff is fantastic. Our server (maybe also the bar manager?) was on point. She got everything right, proactively attended to our table (extra chips/salsa, drink refills) and knew how to talk to us as the vegan diners we are. You go, girl! I usually rate a Mexican restaurant by the basic "combination" meaning 1 shredded beef enchilada, 1 tamale, rice, and beans. The problem is this combination was tasteless for me. Tasteless...meaning totally bland! I didn't have Covid, but there seemed to be a huge lack of taste in anything other than the basic salsa & chips? So I went back to the place a 2nd time a month later...except this time checked out their back sports bar hoping the food would be different since the cooks can watch touchdowns and bullfights while microwaving up the combination. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting different results. The enchilada and tamale were just as bland a 2nd time. As for the rice and beans, I had to dump a bunch of salt and pepper and it still didn't work for me. I dumped the remaining salsa over everything, stirred up the rice and beans plus half the tamale and half the enchilada. I got full so I'll give them 2 stars. read more

My poor chimi came to be deflated like the super bowl! The sauce on top made it soggy also. Some of the meat in chili verde was over cooked. The beans were good but the rice was bland. They def are not stingy on their drinks. The drink was so strong I had to water it down. The salsa actually had a decent flavor but was a bit watered down. I usually like some chunks in my salsa. The lighting in the restaurant needs work! The light bulbs they use at the tables are harsh and no one wants to eat in those kind of settings. read more

I didn't get a chance to check out the Mazatlan before the renovations, but it looks immaculate with all of the renovations. The food and staff are awesome. I highly suggest the chicken burritos, they are huge and filling! The Mazatlan has the best salsa in all of Klamath Falls hands down! It's a very family friendly restaurant with tons of different options to choose from. I haven't had any of their alcohol, but i can say the food is top notch and the wait staff does a great job of taking care of your and providing refills on salsa, chips and soda. read more
