Ok so sometimes it's food quality over service.... and that is exactly what you will  get at Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant in McMinnville Oregon. We were given chips and salsa almost immediately after being seated. A mild and spicy salsa option was give (but you can't tell them apart on sight) then 15 minutes wait before drinks or food orders were taken. Our food came out fairly quickly after that but took another 10 minutes to get tortillas to go with my Carne asada. He got a Chimichanga and enchilada combo and was satisfied with the food. Plenty of parking available (weird Google directions so pay attention to your surroundings). Bathrooms are moderately clean but significant "wear and tear." Staff is abrupt and has no nonsense. read more

It is great food great service great drinks I love all there restaurants now the bathrooms are dirty is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 our waitress was awsome. The food was fantastic the drink was outstanding we got a big strawberry margaritas. The parking lot was ok needs more parking and yes they have handicapped parking.the price was on the higher side but portions are pretty big. Meh. Very hot outside. Lukewarm inside. Could have been a lot cooler. Dark and dingy inside. Only 1 table when I sat down and they were done eating. I ordered a wet burrito and a horchata. Waiter not very friendly. Waited a solid15 minutes for the burrito. Someone else dropped it off. It was tepid. Plate hot but food not. Not wet- the sauce was dried on the plate. I wanted to send it back to heat it up and add sauce, but the waiter never came back. I wanted a refill of horchata and more salsa but no waiter. I ate about 25 percent of it and then waited about 15 minutes at the table looking around. My waiter was making drinks for a table that just came in and seemingly forgot about me. Waited a few minutes more went to the bathroom and then found a waitress to give me a to go container, a refill to go and a check. Paid and left no tip. Theres a Lot of Mexican places to eat at. This place needs to get a new carpet, do a serious (cleaning the back of the booth next to me was covered in spilled drink. Food stains on the stucco walls.) Get some lighting, a new AC, clean the glass at the front doors, hire a bartender, put TP in the bathroom. Serve HOT food, tell your servers to check in and check back. Just a letdown. read more

Mazatlans used to be decent food. They may all be different, but I wouldn't recommend this one. The food was very low quality. The salsa is like tomato water with no chunks or flavor, the mole is overly sweet, the service was less than average and it wasn't busy and the prices are higher $15 per person for Taco Bell quality food. There are better restaurants--not sure about the area, I never come to McMinnville, but at least in the metro. read more

Great service and a great meal! We started with some guacamole to go with the chips. It was blended to a purée, but the flavor was good. All of the entrees were tasty. The cheeses were my favorite part. I had the shredded beef burrito with the chili rellenõs. The burrito was flavorful and juicy. The rellenõs disappeared in the cheese and juices. The service was great and the coffee was fantastic. Definitely check Mazatlan out! read more

I took my daughter out to dinner at Mazatlan in McMinnville Oregon last night July 23 2024 after work at 5:32 pm. I ordered the sizzling shrimp fajitas and she had tamales. we waited a very long time for this food. When it came out my food was not sizzling or even hot, the vegetables were not fresh and you could tell it was probably just a bag of frozen vegetables as it was carrots, bro and cauliflower, onions and bell peppers The shrimp were also frozen and over cooked so much they were like rubber, the sauce was so sweet that it tasted like it had a cup of sugar in it. My daughter's food was warmish on the outside and frozen in the middle. We both became ill before the evening was over and were both ill all day today July 24 2024 We both missed work today and were home with vomiting and diarrhea. I called this morning to ask for a refund and I was told to go to the ER if I was sick and that I was making serious accusations about their restaurant and then demanded to know exactly what time we ate there what we ate then asked me for my receipt they did not give me one but it shows in my bank statement. He took my name and number told me no refund and to take it up with their insurance and then hung up on me. I do not recommend eating there to anyone. Pretty average overall--food is not home made or authentic it's essentially pedestrian mexican-style recipes assembled through SYSCO--but it's decent enough at the right price point. As others have pointed out the wait staff is chronically short as it is industry wide so i am willing to be charitable with respect to that! I ended up doing the enchilada trio (cheese, shredded beef, ground beef) the mole sauce on the shredded beef stood out and was pretty good but the rice was pretty dry and crunchy and beans not a ton of flavor (i believe this was due to the lack of lard) the salsa was an absolute disaster from a can--and while i can appreciate home made tortilla chips these guys don't make them right lol read more

Been coming here since I was a kid, it's always been slightly above average, and for the cost, it's slightly above that. Not my go to place for mexican food, but has a ton of options, and nothing I've had is ever terrible so when with others, it makes for a "safe" place to go for varied taste buds. I've never had problems with service, but I think it's been many years since I've been inside to eat (always get to go). From the outside, not impressive, small little dirty entrance, dirty glass door, clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. Chicken fajitas were floating in tomato sauce. Chicken mole was tough. You could tell it had either been simmering too long, or microwaved too long, or sitting under a heat lamp too long. Bathrooms were disgusting, both mens and women's. Waitress dropped off food and that was the last we saw of her. She never once asked if we wanted another drink, or how our meals were, or if there was anything else we needed. Alright but not phenomenal. Mazatlan was once the Mexican go-to restaurant in Mac, but the prices are getting higher and the restaurant louder and less efficient. When you arrive at Mazatlan, you have to wait for a table for quite a while before being seated. You can still get a good margarita here, but you may be in for a long wait and a loud bunch a kids right next to your table once seated. The food is pretty good. You'll be greeted with some chips and salsa once seated. Parking can sometimes be a bear, but if you're in the area and just want some classic Mexican food, it does the job. read more

I have been in a few times in the 5 years I have lived in the area. The drinks are great but the food is never inspired. I ordered chicken fajitas and somehow it tasted like sweet and sour sauce and veggies with some shredded chicken thrown in. Not fajitas, fajitas should not look and taste like Chinese food. Also had the enchiladas Ranchero. Looked good. Ordered it with carnitas and got the up charge for the meat, but it was actually carnitas rolled in plain tortillas. No sauce. Dry under the cheese and shredded lettuce. I mentioned it to the waitress and her response was an unacceptable "ok, thank you." I'll probably end up going back and just have the chips and salsa and a drink. And watch everyone else eat. read more

Oh no !!! Let me tell you about this business! I was visiting from California, visiting family in Oregon. I can't believe they actually they consider this restaurant! This last visit changed her mind. The prices are raised incredibly high. The food, you're better off at home doing yourself. My main issue is the Manager "JESUS GALVAN!" I cannot believe the abuse on how employees are treated day in and day out! They are not entitled to any type a breaks or lunches or listen to this days off!!! I He also will put notes in the employee areas that are threatening in nature, that they will lose their jobs. In addition, he fills out their W2 forms on how many dependents each employee will claim, this is very illegal!! (Server told me) It's funny how things work I start talking to people and I think I just provide some type of comfort, people start just telling me all sorts of things. I had 2 servers and the bus boy, talking to me telling me all sorts of different situations they have experience with this man. I adviced them retain an attorney, they could sue this business!!! I Hope and pray that somehow my post will help, that the manager will respect and most importantly valued each employee. Afterall, it's only human. read more

This is the third time I've been here, the first one was a mistake I made by myself the other two were against my will and did not want to be rude by saying no​ to my loved​ ones. The enchiladas was a WET mess with dry up chicken so bland the tortilla​ saw disintegrating​​, the beans tasted spoil the chile Relleno​ had water running out of it so gross..I told the waitress after she finally​ came to my table, she said would I want to order something else, I've seen enough and for this,​ I was going to pay 14.00 I would gladly pay it if it was made right and FRESH. I wonder if they eat what they sell I would never come here again and I would tell my friends not to either. I'm not sure what is going on with McMinnville Mazatlan...The staff is always so very nice and willing to accommodate any requests you have. We've been going there for some time and always enjoy their friendly faces. With that being said, I'm not sure what is happening with the kitchen. Lately things have changed. The beans are so watered down and thin that you'll be wearing more than you eat. The salsa as well, just basically thin watered down sauce with very few veggies. Seems that proportions have gotten smaller and prices have gone up, which we understand prices go up and certainly dont mind paying more. No matter what the cost food should be substantial and hot. Several of our neighbors and friends are deciding not to go back for those reasons. Unusually long wait times, then cold watered down food. Makes me sad because it's always been our favorite place. read more

I've gone to Mazatlan like 5 times with my family, We are a small family of 5 and we are Mexican. They are racist. Why? Because every time I we go they only give us one bowl of chips then a white family of 3 is given 2 bowls of chips!? And the employees only check on us like twice and if it's the white family every single minute they come and check on them. They Take a long time to prepare the food even when there's a small amount of people they still take very long. The food always comes out bad either undercooked or over cooked even way to salty at times. I would not recommend for anyone. read more

My husband and I went there for Valentines Day lunch. The chips were warm and fresh except for the half dozen or so that were burned. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal and coffee. I ordered a blended margarita and was brought one on the rocks. No biggie. However, when I started to eat my prawns, I realized that the prawns had not been cleaned. When you have to go track down the waitress for drink Refills you know your in trouble. If your into the waitress dropping your food off and not coming back, then this place is for you.. Not really much to say that wasn't said in the other reviews. Will likely not return, which is a shame, because it was actually pretty good. Our water's were filled just once, at the beginning of our meal, and never again. They never once cleaned our used dishes. We only saw 1 bag of chips. The food was cold. But really, worse than all of it, at the end of our meal we had to track down someone from the back of the restaurant to come take our money. I visited here the other night after visiting the Evergreen Aviation museum. The place was about 3/4 full when we got there and we were able to be seated right away. My son and I were in the mood for fajitas. We placed our order and they came out rather quickly. Unfortunately they were prepared in a way we were not familiar with. They were served in some sort of brown sauce that was sweet but also slightly sour. There were the usual onions and green peppers but also mushrooms (also unusual). Unfortunately it wasn't a flavor that we cared for. Hoping to put a nice cap on the meal we ordered fried ice cream. This also came rather quickly however it too was disappointing. The ice-cream was full of ice crystals and was pretty disgusting. Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing here but it really isn't a place I'd return to if I was a local. For six bucks for two enchiladas, rice, beans, and a soda, this place gets a wholesome three stars. I wish that I could give it more, but the food was mediocre. The salsa was just ok, although the chips were hot and fresh. The enchilada sauce was transparent and kind of jelly like, and really lacked in flavor. The corn tortilla might as well have been missing, as it seemed to have disintegrated under the sauce. The beans were beans and I never eat the rice. The best part of the meal was when I got the bill: an even $6. I'll go for that, and I may even try them again just because it's so cheap. I'll just be sure to try something else. read more
