Dr. Mazey is absolutely Wonderful and a very caring Opthamologist. He goes out of his way to listen to you regarding any of your concerns and the office staff is very personable and kind. I am currently looking for a new opthalmologist! I chose Dr Mazey for my cataract surgery because he came so highly recommended and he is legend around here. He is very nice, the surgery went well, I guess, as I was informed that I would still need reading glasses. However, my vision with or without glasses is much worse than it has ever been! I guess I'm just one of those few people who does not have a good outcome. I can almost deal with that, but yes, you will wait for a LONG time even if you are prompt with your arrival, you are handed off to 2 or 3 different rooms and 3 different techs before Dr Mazey comes in and looks over what they tested and spends no more than 5 minutes with you. The clincher was that I had a follow up scheduled but his manager called to cancel me because she said Dr Mazey NO LONGER TAKES MEDICARE!! What? Finally she told me that Medicare is not paying Dr Mazey and he can't afford to work for free. Also, each time I came for a follow up visit (I had both eyes done separately) the manager loudly informed me that I had an unpaid balance. I got a bill for $18.55, more than a month AFTER I had paid my several hundred dollar copay! Also, one time I was 7 minutes late for my appointment and I was reprimanded and reminded to be on time! read more

I've seen Mazey several yrs-not had bad experience til now. I go 4 times a yr 2 check progress of my glaucoma. 2018 field test started 2 include new OCTtest, I asked what it is? told a pic of my eyes, unclear why I needed all of a sudden-got $95bill, made note next year to pass/decline. Thinking Mazey never mentioned, had no issues all looked good so why do I need additional tests? How crucial could it be if he never even mentioned it? 2019 field test, I told tech will pass on OCT, just want field exam. Immediately she got flustered said HAVE to take OCT test! I said can't afford have 2 pay OOP have other doc visits thruout yr. She got OM, which was RUDE, disrespectful & unprofessional! She got angry raising her voice saying I'm not listening 2 her, NEVER experienced this kind of treatment, especially 4 declining a test? The more she bullied the more I shut down/resisted, I don't deserve 2b treated like this, no one does! She said did I know I could go blind? Yep, that's why I come every 4 mths & take drops every night! She tried giving analogy if I had appendicitis would I only get 2 valves fixed? WTH? that's ER situation. Can U die from going blind? She said insurance covered OCT- NOT til deductibles met - She asked how much deductible was/suggested I pick another plan...SO Rude & unprofessional! When did my financial situation become her business? Why not "Sorry Dr requires the test, U can take field exam now then discuss further w/him re: OCT at ur appointment."? After her tantrum she walked out mumbling wouldn't b my choice. Thought we're proceeding w/field exam was told NO wouldn't allow me 2 take this test - which I thought was the main reason for the appt? Been taking this test alone 4 several years, ur saying it's no good now? Pretty hypocritical for someone claiming 2b so interested in my eye health but refused 2 allow me 2 take field exam - how concerned are U? It wouldn't be the first time a dr ordered unnecessary tests - I'm not saying the OCT wasn't in my best interest but I don't know unless it's discussed with by my DR! OM def lost my attention when raising her voice/bullying me. Total waste of my time -taking off work early for this appt but was denied taking the visual field exam! I asked how 2 get my medical records thinking may need to start looking for a new dr since they're denying this test? They gave me consent of release form. The next day I decided to wait the 2 weeks til my appt with Mazey we could discuss it since I never talked 2 him re: the situation. When I showed up for my appt 2 weeks later was told they cancelled it, I was no longer a patient...Wow? that's how you treat ur patients? Nice work. More wasted time off from my job for nothing - my time is valuable too! Total disrespect for patients. I have no issue finding another dr, I work for Ascension both parents have Ophthalmologists they LIKE. I didn't cancel appt, I didn't sign release forms requesting medical records etc Why wouldn't U inform the patient? They threaten 2 charge patients 4 cancelling without notice? Hypocrites! I don't need dr having "God" complex & refuses to discuss procedures w/patients! Doesn't work 4 me I ALWAYS ask questions. Not a robot if I have a dr who isn't open - promoting questioning/explaining procedures/tests etc I def don't want him as my dr. I blame Mazey 4 promoting rude unprofessional behavior w/staff. The situation could've been avoided taking time 2 mention the OCT, why/what it was & answer ANY questions I had. For him to do this wo having a convo w/me tells you all you need re: the compassion as "Caring" dr. I thought I had a good relationship w/Mazey but was fooled, guess it's about the $, NOT patients. Respect/communication works great when you actually practice it! Google him/practice you'll see there's plenty bad reviews going back a while to recently; it's apparent he's not interested in patient feedback/improving things. Hoping by providing honest feedback it may help others. Since the incident I've seen my new dr twice, took ALL new tests re: glaucoma. Had me stop taking drops 2 get baseline what is "normal" pressure for my eyes- cause test results he reviewed did NOT indicate any signs of glaucoma, he saw NO damage 2 my eyes. He will monitor going forward every few months wo drops & proceed accordingly. Been taking drops 4 yrs, said rather me not take drops if I don't have glaucoma due 2 side effects doesn't see need 2 take unnecessary meds 4 health condition not detected? I was shocked 2 hear since been told all this time I have mild glaucoma. Not saying won't get in future cause of fam history. But eye pressure does not cause glaucoma. I'm 4 not having 2 take unnecessary meds, having 2 switch drs may be blessing! Time will tell. Good luck, do ur own research 2b informed patient & don't EVER settle for dr/Staff NOT willing 2 communicate/welcome patients 2 ask as many questions as needed! Theres many excellent drs, just have 2 find 1 that's good fit 4U! read more

3PM appointment and its now 3:31. Waiting over 30 minutes to be seen for a scheduled appointment is unsatisfactory. Waiting room is packed. Dr. Mazey is obviously over booked. read more

My 85 year old mother went for glasses. When she received them, she could see out of the prescription. She called the office and spoke with the manager. When she tried to explain the issue, the manager said they don't give refunds and hung up on her. read more

Why do some professionals particularly doctors think that their time is more valuable than yours? To overbook so badly that my 16 month old's appt runs an hour behind. No apology. No explanation. And then once in the exam room, doesn't even give my BABY more than a few looks in under 5 minutes, referring us somewhere else; this is AFTER I called the officeahead to ensure that the dr. could see someone so young and was told 'yes'. Now, he wants US, the patrons, to pay. For what? The greed of some people blows my mind. And I can't help but wonder why he's so popular - he's got a big, beautiful building, and I wonder if the draws people in. I'm not sure. To resolve this, I called the office manager, and she basically said sorry not sorry. Her exact words were, "That's the way it is. This isn't your 'corner' eye place. You're paying for his 'expertise'." Thanks Karen! At this rate, $182 for 5 minutes costs about $2,184/hour. Dr. Mazey deserves that kind of pay? He didn't cure my son's eyesight, so sorry not sorry. I'm not paying for a visit that did nothing for me. And I won't be even close to coming back. read more

First and probably last visit to Dr. Mazey's office. When we were finally able to see Dr. Mazey, he was nice and professional. His office staff, on the other hand, are some of the rudest and most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. The office manager, in particular, did her best to humiliate me and make me feel like a complete idiot. read more

If I could give this office zero stars I would. The office manager, Karen is so rude that I wouldn't be surprised if more people don't start seeking out other eye doctors. She throws her power in your face and doesn't want you to ask any questions and I had an urgent appointment and because she didn't like me asking her questions and after waiting 45 minutes in the lobby she said the doctor was too busy to see me; even with an appointment and even though other patients in the lobby were not asked to leave. Only me. Another man who came in after me but arrived on the wrong appointment day they agreed to see him but then they couldn't see him afterall because he forgot his insurance card. They were going to squeeze him in because there was a cancellation but yet with me they were too busy to see. So they discriminated against me (a person with a scheduled appointment) but said the doctor couldn't see me because he was too busy. Then I asked to reschedule and they said they would call me. Yeah right? Remember this was an urgent appointment that they said I should see the doctor based on what I had told them earlier in the morning about my eye. This Karen didn't want anything to do with me and she used her power to discriminate against me and was rude to boot. This does not look too good for this office and if I were you...stay away. There are other credible doctors with decent managers out there who treat people with respect and dignity. Oh yeah and they don't ask the front office help, Willow, to lie for them which is what happened when I asked why and can't you reschedule the appointment. They didn't want me there.
