I made an appointment with no expectations knowing how uneventful my eye doctor appointments normally are. I got there on time and had to wait outside because of COVID restrictions. Once I got in, I was treated very well. I wasn't expecting that level of professionalism from an eye doctors office. The pre-exam involved medical history, previous eye doctor visits and some quick eye tests. After the pre-exam, I met with Dr. Lawless. He was thorough and honestly, I was impressed with my visit. My eyes have improved but I can still see Mars. I am pretty positive he called me old without saying old, he said I needed progressive lenses (you know bifocals but much better and cooler). After Dr. Lawless, off to see Anne. Anne was cool as all get out. I told her what I wanted and she got damn close. No contacts just glasses with all the cool things guys in their late 40's get with their progressive lenses, like transition lenses, high density (sorry gang no coke bottles) and anti glare/scratch.

He is very nice, the surgery went well, I guess, as I was informed that I would still need reading glasses. However, my vision with or without glasses is much worse than it has ever been! I guess I'm just one of those few people who does not have a good outcome. I can almost deal with that, but yes, you will wait for a LONG time even if you are prompt with your arrival, you are handed off to 2 or 3 different rooms and 3 different techs before Dr Mazey comes in and looks over what they tested and spends no more than 5 minutes with you. The clincher was that I had a follow up scheduled but his manager called to cancel me because she said Dr Mazey NO LONGER TAKES MEDICARE!! What? Finally she told me that Medicare is not paying Dr Mazey and he can't afford to work for free. Also, each time I came for a follow up visit (I had both eyes done separately) the manager loudly informed me that I had an unpaid balance. I got a bill for $18.55, more than a month AFTER I had paid my several hundred dollar copay! Also, one time I was 7 minutes late for my appointment and I was reprimanded and reminded to be on time!

I specifically scheduled that time because that's what worked for me, I didn't need the constant updates on new appointments. I had an eye exam and purchased two pairs of glasses. The staff was friendly when I went in for the exam and purchasing glasses. The facility was clean and inviting. I received a call stating my glasses were in, which was within a week. I went and picked up only one pair because that's what was available. I'm not sure why they didn't just wait until the second pair was in or tell me only one pair was in. After waiting another two weeks I had to call them to see what was going on. They said the other pair was in. To me that's a communication failure on their part. Would they have ever called me, or just let my glasses sit there? The place is a decent place to get glasses, you just have to be proactive about actually getting your stuff.

During my research, I found his rates are in line and actually a bit lower than other physicians in the area, but this is not the deciding factor in choosing Accents. I viewed numerous before and after photos of procedures done by Doctor Berkowitz and knew he was the doctor for me. All of my procedures were done by Doctor Berkowitz personally. During visits, staff are in attendance but Doctor Berkowitz does all the work. I can't count all of the compliments I continue to receive. I was told I had to pay for the exam to come back in to have my glasses adjusted to the right lens and I had to pay for the adjustments. They didn't do it right the first time and I'm suppose to pay for their mistake. Don't go there. I spent $800 on 2 pair of glasses and this is how they treat their customers when they mess up. They're not even worth one star.
