I'm so happy I did not get my lasik done back in Vegas while I was living there. I went to Lasik Eye Institute back in 2016 I believe. The guy who checked my eyes was so rude and mean. He made me feel really insecure about my eyes because I had smaller eyes than most people. (ps I'm Asian lol) he kept yelling at me telling me to open my eyes bigger and I was trying my best. He gave my hopes up saying I'm most likely will be a candidate for lasik, then doctor comes in and tell me I wasn't. And that I should look into PRK. The bad experience made me give up on lasik. Wearing mask and glasses can get a bit annoying. And my glasses kept sliding down my face causing my ears to hurt. Plus I would like to wear my eyeliner more often without contacts. My prescription was really bad it was a -7. My cousin recommended his place and I trust his opinion. So I made my consultation! (The consultation and lasik surgery is at two different location. Consultation is in Dearborn.) Make sure you have someone to drive you, once you arrive only you can come in, but make sure to call ahead of time. Everyone was so nice. Barb examined my eyes, also she dilated my eyes. Which lasted for a whole day, that is why you need a driver. She didn't make me feel insecure about my eyes! She just kept telling me I'm doing a great job. Barb is also the one who calls you the Friday before your lasik appt to give you the time of the arrival, I believe the surgery day is every 3rd Wednesday of the month. Thank you Barb for your patience and kindness, it really goes a long way. Then Dr.Akler came to examine my eye, oh by the way I DID NOT NEED PRK. I got approved as a candidate for lasik. Dr.Akler is so kind. The whole staff is Is amazing! I made my appointment for my lasik for October 20, 2021! (Today is the day after!! And I already can see and writing this review!) Okay so come the Friday before my lasik date, Barb called me, she let me know my appointment time, and send in my prescription eyedrop a to my pharmacist. She gave my direction for the eye drops and to start my artificial tear eyedrops if I haven't already. On the day of lasik, which is located in Fraser. Crystal called me in to examine my eyes, another lady came and gave me to Valium I believe that's what it's called, which is to help calm my nerves which boy did that work! I was taken to a massage chair to relax!! A massage chair!! I had taken my glasses off so from there everything was a blur. But I would love to thank DR. Akler and her team! Best team and I hope you guys stick together and grow the team! Okay so then they came and got me from the massage chair, took me to the surgery room laid me down. Dr. Akler and her team was just chit chatting and that already made me forget about my fear plus that Valium. But she also told me all the steps and when I was going to feel pressure and what she was going to do and what I should do. It was easy peasy and fast!! I really just love how great the team was and how chill they were with each other. After the surgery was down they took me into a room and Dr.Akler examined my eyes to make sure the flap was good, then they sent me home with sleeping goggles and sunglasses. When I came home my eyes did aches a lot but once I went to sleep and woke up it was gone. I kept my eyes closed the whole day and opened them this morning and it's just a miracle and amazing that I can see. Went to my post op I have 20/15 vision! And everything seems to be great. I come back next month to make sure everything is good. I just cannot thank my cousin enough for recommending this place to me. Thank you Dr.Akler and ALL of her staffs! You all make a great team, I did not feel scared or nervous at all, because I do have social anxiety, but everyone made me feel comfortable. I can tell this team has trust in each other and is very well trained. I'm just so happy EVERYTHING is 100% awesome! I will be recommending this place!! It is worth the drive and money! Expect to wait 30 to 40 mins after your scheduled appointment to be seen....I was there on a Saturday, 11:00 o'clock appt...didnt see the Optician until 1145...went through eye exam with the assistant....led down a hall to a waiting room to wait for the Dr with 6 other people already in there waiting to see the Dr. Completely under staffed for an office that takes in emergencies and scheduled appointments. I said i wont ever be back ...the assistant asked why....i said i had to wait 45 mins to be seen and ive been here an hour and a half ...she actually said...oh thats not too bad !!! Came in for considering lasik surgery. They gave me a couple options that I should also consider. The more we talked the more we had questions. I ended up having ICL surgery, where contacts are put inside the eye. I had other opinion their prices were half what others charge. The surgery went excellent. I had both eyes done at once. CATARACT SURGERY - I was a patient here under Dr. Vanderhoof for 15 years prior to my surgery. He is an excellent doctor. On 4-1-25 I was informed my cataracts were ripe enough for surgery. On 6-19-25 I met with Dr. Basha and my doctor. I also met with Fran Zientek, their "insurance expert". Despite specifically telling her NOT to call my prescription for drops to Walgreens, she did just that. After 3 or 4 phone calls, I was able to get my prescriptions from the correct pharmacy. I waited almost 3 months to get a surgery date. On 6-30-25. my surgery went well and I had no problems, On 7-14-25 the second surgery was performed. The anesthesia seems totally different ( I was much more "out") . A week later, my doctor told me I had some swelling and I needed to increase the volume and duration of the drops. I followed his instructions explicitly. He said to return in 2 weeks. It was a different story at the front desk. They had no appointments in 2 weeks and set me up for 3 weeks out. A week later, they called and pushed my appointment out another week. I finally got my refraction for new glasses on 8-21-25. BTW, they make you pay the $35 refraction fee before they will do surgery. When I inquired with the office manager, Kathleen Donigan, she said, "That's our procedure". She assured me I would get a refund if I "died on the table". In that 2nd eye surgery (the one that seemed different from the first eye) I experienced and I am still experiencing arc flashes of light. In summary, I would not recommend this facility for cataract surgery. It is a long, drawn out process that appears to be a disconnect between the medical professionals and the support staff. My entire summer has been an anxiety-laden, frustrating experience. Finally, The card reader experience of having to scan your driver's license and insurance cards into a machine is time consuming and ridiculous. You struggle with tis procedure while 2 or 3 receptionists sit at the front desk doing some unexplained function. Very impersonal and you must do this on every follow-up[ visit despite your information being "in their system". read more

My father had appointment at the Fraser office. We sat there for almost two hours in the waiting room. The receptionists do not acknowledge you. When he was finally called, a girl tested his eyes and then put us in another room. We sat in that room for at least another thirty five minutes. dr. Basha came in and he was very quick. As patients, we specifically select private clinics for a reason. I have to agree with Ryan Z. I had surgery at this place on 4/25/24. There was no advanced notice prior to surgery (5 months out) and no follow up after.(even my other doc has someone check on me after a procedure) I was led to believe I would be asleep for the procedure but that was not true. and no one informed me that it would be local only. The anethaesist only pushed me to accept Versed. I refused to be given Versed (amnesia), so I do remember the process. It is the inadequate information pre and post op as well as the trickery and lying that I object to. I have yet to recieve any feedback on my request for a copy of my medical records. read more

I recently experienced an industrial accident that caused trauma to my favorite eye. When my Yelp buddy Ron C. heard about it, he suggested that I visit Fraser Eye Care Center. He rated them 10 out of 10. I couldn't agree more. I had an appointment during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020. I had a patch over my eye and a mask over my mouth. I was probably a sight to see. As usual these days, there were forms to fill out. Using my less favorite eye, together we did our best to complete the task. There was a bit of a wait, but once my name was called, things went very smoothly. The doctor was thorough in his examination and answered my questions with a reassurance of a good outcome. I think you lose something when everyone has to wear a face mask. While *everyone* I encountered during my office visit was pleasant and professional, I probably wouldn't recognize any of them walking down the sidewalk. That is the only sadness to my experience. Ron C. said that once I visited, I wouldn't want to go anywhere else for eye care. You can take his advice to the bank on that point. Two thumbs up and eye recommend them. read more

I had my cataracts removed here. I was not told about the side effects. I have had flickerings for over a year caused by the edge of the lens they inserted. My wife had no such problems. It was due to the type of material used. I complained about this and after numerous follow-up visists, was told that nothing could be done and that it should go away on its own. I never got to see the doctor, Dr. Basha, during these follow ups. I even requested a phone call. He never responded. I waited 3 months for a visit where I was assured I would see Dr. Basha. When I went, I never did see Dr. Basha. It seems like he is too busy making money. This whole procedure felt like I was only one person in a production line of patients. I would not recommend Fraser Eye Care to anyone thinking about cataract surgery. read more

I had my eyelids done by Dr Schartenberg in Oct 2019. I noticed right away that the left eye surgical line was completely crooked. Very disappointing. Then, about 6 mos later it looked like a vein was protruding above the line. Very noticeable and very upsetting. I didn't really know what to do and because I wasn't happy with the surgery I didn't want to go back and figured if it was a vein it would eventually calm down. Last night I had a magnifying mirror and could see it wasn't a vein but a suture that had been left inside above my lid!! I got in to see the Dr today and she told me she could remove it in the office right then. Well, it was painful to say the least. But the unbelievable thing was she NEVER apologized for leaving it in! And the 2nd unbelievable thing was when I was checking out they wanted to charge me!! Seriously? I got my lasik done here and I was having problems after, so I went in to have them check it out but than I get a bill in the mail for $100 since that checkup was "unrelated to my lasik" which is complete BS. A couple weeks ago I was having massive eye pain. It started as my eye lids hurting. Next thing I knew my eye was very sensitive to light, red and swollen. I first went to an after hours clinic since it was on the weekend and was diagnosed with pink eye. The pain and my vision was getting worse so the next day I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with sinusitis and pink eye. After taking the prescribed medicines, my eye was only getting worse. I had to walk everywhere with sunglasses on because my eye was so sensitive to any time of light. I knew I needed to see an ophthalmologist and quickly. After calling several ophthalmologist's, Fraser Eye Care was the only place that could get me in in less than a day. Most places were booked over a week. I seen Dr. Basha and he was very friendly and quick to discover I had a scratch on my eye and I was losing my vision. It was over a week from when I first started having eye issues. He prescribed eye drops and gel lubricant for my eye. I had a follow up appointment a week later and my vision was back to normal for me. Staff was awesome and able to answer all my questions. Free wifi in office. Clean and lots of chairs in the waiting area. I wouldn't hesitate to see Dr. Basha again for my eye issues. If you think you have ever been misdiagnosed with something, always get another option. In my case, third one is a charm. read more

Recommended by primary care physician to take disabled daughter to Port Huron office-it's local-NEVER AGAIN. Office is very ill equipped to handle children with disabilities. Seemed as though staff had little experience working with disabled children. Not accommodating whatsoever for children with disabilities. Excellent care by the doctors and staff. I now do not need vision correction for the first time since my teens. A word of caution--get a thorough explanation of your out of pocket costs. The quote form is very unclear. I was presented with an unexpected bill of more than $3000 AFTER surgery. The biller Jennifer was snotty and dismissive. When I pointed out the unclear form. Her reaction was "All you had to do was read it"!! Really?? She should have been fired on the spot. I pointed out that the form is also unclear to the front desk staff, because they were very unclear on what to charge me. Every lady I spoke with gave me a very different figure. At that point I demanded to speak with the office manager Kathy. She was awesome and very sympathetic and understanding. Outstanding personal service by Dr. Basha and Dr. Valice. My husband, John had the misfortune of having simultaneous issues with glaucoma and a detached retina. Both Dr. Basha and Dr. Valice explained in detail how they were working together to resolve his situation. He felt very comfortable with the answers to all of his many questions. I would personally not recommend Fraser Eye Care Center. I went there seeking help for my Keratoconus because it was getting more and more difficult to do daily tasks and driving at night was really becoming a challenge. One thing I would like to note is that I was 32years old - so young/ energetic/ and heal fast. I had a procedure on my right eye (Cross Linking and PRK) performed in January of 2020 and the results seemed satisfactory. There was some haze on the cornea that still persists today likely because of the PRK. I went back in June of 2020 to have the left eye procedure - and that is when everything changed...About a week after the surgery I went blind in my Left eye. Dr. Basha was clueless as to what was happening. I do give him credit because he was seeing me on Saturday and Sunday when the office was closed. He originally diagnosed me with Acute Hydrops a rare side affect of Keratoconus. This was a very difficult time for my family and I especially since I couldn't work. One night when I was sleeping I had a crazy fluid rush down my face. I went do Dr. Basha in the morning and my cornea had a perforation because it was thinned out so much. After Dr. Basha didn't know what else to do - he sent me to Kellogg eye center in Ann Arbor (University of Michigan). We had to find a emergency contact to watch our 2 year old as we do not have a big support network for our child other than ourselves. Once I got to the Hospital the Dr. at Kellogg performed an emergency cornea gluing to get the cornea to seal. 3 days later I had a similar fluid rush and went back to the Kellogg eye center where they performed an emergency Cornea transplant. The doctor at the Kellogg eye center was able to determine that my Cornea was melted (likely from the PRK and medicine that Dr. Basha prescribed to me) as well as infected. I'm really grateful and blessed to say that 2 years later my vision in my left eye is 20/20 corrected with a scleral contact lens. The cornea haze on the right eye still exists where the PRK was performed. In conclusion - I am a honest person and former customer to Fraser eye care - please have a second opinion because this company nearly cost me my vision...I would not recommend their services respectfully. read more

I got Lasik cataract surgery done by Dr. Basha and 1 week after surgery i was seeing perfect. Everything was very smooth the doctor called me the night before from his cell phone. I had cataracts in both eyes that were starting to affect my vision. I was also near sighted and had astigmatism. Dr. Basha checked my eyes and determined that Toric Interocular Lenses would be the best choice for me. I had replacement surgery on both eyes and am now 20/20 or better! The Fraser Eye Center was very efficient and good at making me relaxed and comfortable before and during surgery. Dr. Basha personally called the night before each surgery to see how I was doing, and see if I had any questions. I highly recommend both Dr. Basha and the Fraser Eye Care Center. read more
