My reason for the 2 star review is due to an AC issue with my vehicle. I brought it in at the end of June because there was no AC - it was leaking somewhere. I let them know when I recharge it myself it will last for 2 to 3 weeks, then it blows warm air again. They inform me the wrong Freon was put in the system (I put the correct one in, but I am guessing the person before us did not as it was purchased in January of this year). I go ahead and pay the $500 to have it drained, recharged and pressure tested - no leaks or issues found - good to go. Until this past weekend. The AC went out again (less than 3 weeks after it was filled). I take it back in and let them know it's blowing warm air again. They take a look at it and they say it's low on Freon and it would be another $480 to refill it for them to pressure test it and find the issue -- even though we just did that at the end of June. No thanks.

Car is in great shape, engine runs great, low mileage so dropping a little $$$ into rebuilding the front end was a no brainer IF I found a trustworthy mechanic to do the job. I got 2-3 estimates before my landlord suggested Chris. My landlord is a classic car buff and has been working with Chris @ Thayer for over 20 years. The tip more than paid off as not only did Chris put a plan together get my car back on the road, he also fixed three other issues (radiator/brakes/fuel filter) for the price that others wanted to just fix the front end - parts, labor, all included. Chris even took the extra step to research how to fix the issue of the 'dead' instrument panel which is a common soldering joint problem with many of the GM's of the time (2003-2005) - FOR HALF the price I saw everywhere else. That's the next step in the plan, I have a new and hopefully life long mechanic I can trust and is also a very honest, polite, real person to work with. Go to Thayer and work with Chris!!! -AndyK
