There are other "Myrtle Beach Welcome Centers" out there but this one with the blue roof gives away free soft serve ice cream. The catch? The ice cream machine breaks more often than those at McDonald's. They have some fountain soda drinks, coffee and slushies too, when those machines are working. I stopped thinking this was an 'official' welcome center. It is not. It's simply a facility that funnels leads for Club Wyndham "time shares it's not a time share". The reason I stopped was that I was interested in perhaps finding a discount ticket for the Ripley's Aquarium. What they did was offer me free tickets to the Aquarium for a $60 'hold' on my credit card if I agree to listen to a 2 hour sales pitch for a time share it's not a time share. Absolutely no transparency. The interesting thing is that I believe that Club Wyndham is a pretty reasonable deal for some, but the lies, hard sell, and lack of transparency was a turn off. I decided to listen to the presentation and obtained a receipt for a $60 refund, and was provided 3 tickets. Michael was a good guy doing his job, but the other guys reminded me of used car salesmen trying to close a sale (one, aka Jackie Chiles). When Jackie knew I wasn't buying he threw in a dig, but that's OK. We got our free tickets to the Aquarium and hopefully they'll work. I should think that full transparency, disclosing prices right up front, reducing their financing fee from 15.99%, and a few other tweaks to the used car type presentation would greatly up their conversion rate. I will say, for some, it will be worth sitting the few hours for the comped ticket they provide (you will be given many choices). For me, the presentation from Jackie was outrageous, egregious, preposterous. Plus irrelevant, irrational, and inconsequential. Portions were totally inappropriate, lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous! They did provide snacks, and they were delicious, scrumptious, outstanding. Disappointing to say the least. Pretty run of the mill visitor/ welcome center. They advertise free ice cream and slushees but they are pretty sad quality. Pretty much only good as a distraction for the kids during the last 45min of driving. The main reason I only gave 2 stars is because the man (dark hair and a goatee) who we talked to at the counter was RUDE. He was short and dismissive of our questions and seemed annoyed that we wanted ice cream. He acted as if we were inconveniencing him despite being the only visitors in the building at the time. While this is not an official welcome center (as their name suggests), they do offer discount coupon books. In the middle of the room you will find people behind the desk - they are there to try and get you to a timeshare presentation. If you are up for some freebies they are offering, you can take them up on the offer. Even though their 90 minute presentations can take up to 4 hours. Visited on 03/01/2019. Nice place to pick up maps and brochures, but this place is an absolute scam!!! Rude judgmental staff trying to push time shares and then offering burnt popcorn. Unless you really need a clean restroom or have to stop, I just recommend driving on past it. read more

We always stop here on the way to the beach. The clean restrooms and walls full of coupons never fail! If you don't want to be talked into a timeshare presentation make a wide swing around the folks at the central desk. They are really friendly, but that is what they are there to do. We always just smile and say "Just in town for dinner..." and they don't bug us. PS- The Monster coupon book is the best one to get! read more
