My daughter and I often dine in or carry out at this McAlister's when in Knoxville. We came in after doing some Christmas shopping for dinner. It was pretty empty with about 3 other families at tables. The lady that took our order was friendly. We both ordered the choose two and my small child got a grilled cheese kids meal. When our food arrived I noticed my daughter had potato soup instead of the chicken tortilla that she ordered. She doesn't like to make a fuss and didn't want to tell them they got her order wrong. I then noticed that my broccoli cheddar soup looked separated. I took a bite and it was cold. I realized it looked that way because it was not fully warmed and the cheese was clumpy. I took it to an employee and asked if they could just warm it for me. She said yes and that she would bring it back. She never came back. I ate my 1/2 chicken salad sandwich which was sloppily made and falling apart. My girls finished their food and we just decided to leave. I went to the counter to tell them never mind on my soup and the employee that took it back for me was standing there texting or surfing on her cell phone. The manager apologized and did give me a voucher for a free meal. Honestly, the past few times we have eaten there it just wasn't the same quality we used to get. McAlisters was absolutely wonderful and flawless!! From the servers to the cleanliness. We enjoyed every second of this Warm, Inviting Atmosphere. My Husband and I LOVED the Taco Tortilla Soup!! Appreciation for NICK and the Staff at McAlister's on Shaad! This location is it!! I placed a *delivery* order through McA's app, but then clicked "reorder," because I always order the same thing. Well the app changed my order to a pickup and doesn't explicitly say so. After 45 mins | call the store and they say it's still waiting. When I got there, Nick was understanding and remade my entire order. He took initiative to take care of customers, and this isnt the first time this focation has taken care of me. During another incident, previously, when I had ordered a pick-up, a lady, I think a manager, saw my food got done quickly and I was late to pick it up. She went ahead and replaced my mac and cheese expecting it had gotten too cold. This location is fantastic, thank you very much! McAlister's Corporate, however, absolutely sucks. Worst experience. We did go in about 20 minutes before closing and the nice gentleman at the register said it was fine and that we could stay and eat. Mind you it was a Wednesday night (kids eat free) and we had 5 children with our family. Total of 9 of us. We ordered quickly and rushed to our table to set up and to be able to eat quickly (as quickly as 5 kids can). They brought our food and we noticed they forgot to ring up my dads order. My mom went up to the counter, well BEFORE closing time and they told her they could not make anything else. Ok, that's fine. They need to clean the kitchen. We were eating our food, about halfway done and this employee came up and said "I'm sorry, we are closed and because you have minors you HAVE to leave." Let me tell you about this place, not only is their food finger licking good, but their customer service goes above and beyond what Buzz Lightyear would do. I've only done pick up and delivery, but I'll tell you what, this place beats any other deli places. A few weeks ago officers came in, and she refused to serve them. (I would assume having her brother killed by the local police department in his own school is traumatizing to a sibling.) Once we walked in it reminded me of another popular sandwich & salad, soup place. We decided to get takeout to enjoy at home. We got the McAllister club and the Black Angus club and the grilled chicken ceasar wrap. Both of the clubs were ok, but could have been better. They come with a side, we tried the macaroni salad, potato salad, & chips (standard chip selection doritos, cheetos, sun chips, and a few other). The macaroni Salad was good, a cork screw past tossed with some veggies and what tasted like a bottle Italian dressing. My mom said the potato salad was good. The spreads kind of over powered the sandwiches. They had a good amount of meat but the layer with the lettuce and tomato were barely there. The chicken ceasar wrap was the best of them all. The bread was stale and hard to even chew or bite off. The "carmelized onions" were crunchy. I'm guessing they dipped them in au jus to give them color. I couldn't finish more than 2 or 3 bites before I gave up on it. The soup was edible. As you can tell I'm pretty disappointed with my $15 lunch.
