The veggie sandwich was good but after sitting for 20 minutes the person I was with was told they were out of baked potatoes so not sure how this information wasn't know. At the time we ordered ‍ The salad was fresh but the restaurant definitely needs more workers to help clean tables. It was dirty with several tables having food on them from previous guests. My wife dragged me here for years, but after our two most recent visits, she finally agrees with me that McAlister's is a pretty horrible restaurant that continues to race down hill at a frightening pace. Is there a good reason a sandwich shop...this place does not deserve to be called a deli...is out of one of the soups offered as a side, as well as both ham and chicken? Should a sandwich take 25 minutes to come out when fewer than 6 tables are occupied? Should a warm sandwich and mac and cheese both come out cold? How about a corned beef and pastrami sandwich served with neither Russian or mustard on it or on the side? I could easily go on, but there is no reason to believe this place will ever be worth a visit. To quote Nancy Reagan, "just say no". read more

Got refund and left. Couple more people placed orders. Person taking orders going back and forth to kitchen. Another potato order, told 30 minute wait. I go to counter , when acknowledged I ask the person that TOOK MY ORDER, am I in the it will be thirty minute potato wait. She looks at me and says did you hear me tell those others 30 minute wait? I was a little taken a back. I said well you didn't say any thing to me I assumed I had ordered the last potato. Now, in a very ugly tone , she said I don't know what you ordered! I turned to my husband and asked was I ugly?? A woman standing near by said you were not, you did nothing wrong. Manager, as I explain the problem, starts talking about being shorthanded, busy....unconcerned with employee's behavior. Husband comes up and I say we will just cancel our order. Boy was I wrong First and foremost the staff that I interacted with was very friendly and nice. Order food at 653pm Received food around 725pm Crazy thing is I saw people order after me and still received food before me. The cashier even asked me if I was still waiting for food lol. I received my food and proceeded to hotel since I was exhausted. Sad to say I get to the hotel and begging to open food. No dressing for salad. Turkey crunch had NO CRUNCH (missing chips) If I wasn't so tired I would have gone back for a refund. To the young ladies holding the front of house down I appreciate how both of you were friendly. I should have known it was gonna be bad when I waited for the girls to stop bickering about working before taking my order. Ordered Smokey pepper jack with Mayo instead of mustard. Waited 30 minutes for food even with just 4 others in restaurant who also waited a long time. Got my order, had mustard instead of Mayo. Heard the kitchen staff yell after girl told them to remake. Bread, roast beef, and cheese were all cold (straight from refrigerator cold) and potato salad was not included. It tasted like a leftover sandwich they didn't even bother to re-heat. I've been to this location (Ambassador Caffery, Lafayette, LA) before and the food was good. I definitely wouldn't recommend ordering for pick up or delivery. Quality is not consistent. read more

I have visited this McAllister twice while visiting out of town and both times I've waited over 30 mins for a half sandwich and fruit cup. The chips had been repackaged in a smaller bag. Looks like they took a normal small chip bag and split it up into two bags. About half as much as I used to get. With COVID still prevalent, I'm annoyed that the clips have been handled by the restaurant instead of just selling a factory sealed bag. The mac and cheese container was only about 1/3 full. Another clear cost cutting measure. The cookie was barely cooked at all. It was raw in the middle and was like chewing gum. I was charged $2.99 for the drink but when writing a review on DoorDash it shows that I should not have charged at all. See picture. ALSO, The toothpick in the sandwich was completely unnecessary and is a potential safety issue. When the sandwiches were delivered in a to-go container the toothpick helped hold the sandwich together but now that the sandwiches are only wrapped in paper (another cost cutting measure) the toothpick is not needed. The wrapping paper pushes the toothpick completely into the sandwich and it's not seen until the customer bites into it. Very disappointed... Their food used to be consistently good. read more

My half sandwich had a strange, horrible; dirty taste. The single tomato was old and also the smashed tiny piece of avocado was old. The Turkey tasted spoiled, I was unable to eat it. My husband who eats anything could not finish his potato, it was that bad. His potato was dried out and old. Everything was dry, over cooked, old and had no favor. The Bathrooms were also very dirty. Greeted and welcomed professionally. Store was clean and neat. The music was nice. The service was great. They told us that our potatoes would be a little longer than expected since it was later in the evening. Victoria made up for it with her friendliness and care for us. My daughter and I ordered a Choose 2 and without even asking she brought out our soups so we could eat with my wife at the same time. Food was very good and we were very appreciative. Stopped by for lunch around 1pm on my way to Florida. Ordered the seasonal strawberry, blueberry and chicken salad. Strawberries were frozen solid. We are only allowed to use plastic utensils and the plasticware they had available was so horrible and flimsy I could not cut the strawberries. Also, don't recommend ordering a drink like tea or water. Tasted terrible. Not sure if they use unfiltered H2O or it was this time of year and the "lake is turning". Normally I like McAlister's. I have eaten here, or ordered from here, several times. It's close to my home. I have had the club sandwich and the French dip. Both are good. Once in a take-home, they forgot the dip and I had to drive back. For some reason it played on my nerves, but that has been the only mess up. Wife likes the large salads here, she says much better than Jason's Deli salads. So we will visit again. I can recommend. Sorry these others had bad experiences. First I had to wait for the person who was supposed to be taking orders to finish texting (she was actually sitting on a bench... in the lobby... on her phone!). Then after I ordered and was going through the payment process, she asked if I wanted to leave a tip! Why would I do that when you couldn't even get up to take my order? This place is trash and the workers don't care about their jobs or customers. Why does it take 10 minutes to make one cold sandwich when the whole store is empty of customers and there are 4 people behind the counter. Make it make sense. The employees were sitting there the whole time talking about wanting to quit because there hours are low. They wont be able to get any other job if there work ethic is clearly so bad. We just went to the McAlister's in Lafayette. Worst service I've had in this town. First my husband got the wrong drink. Fine, we had them replace it. Then we wait over 40 minutes for our food. Several people that came after us got their food before us. Then everyone at our table got their food except me. The young man asked what I ordered. I told him and he went to the kitchen. He brings back the wrong sandwich. I told him it was wrong so he went to get another. He never brought back the sandwich and everyone at our table was done eating so we left. Never did get my lunch.
