Oh, it must have been an off day for her. We wanted brunch that morning just because. I picked the place, because the last time we were at Toasted Yolk they were under construction. And the manager gave us a discount because of the noise. First tip off that this might not go well, was there was only one other car in the lot, and they were at the To Go door. Well, that means all the attention will be on us. And we were indeed the only people in the place at 8:00 a.m. "Table for two, please." We followed her as instructed, and passed window booths to be placed (pause, deep breath) next to the bathrooms. Um, no. This will not do. But we were polite. My wife asked if there was another table not near the bathroom that we could use. The young woman literally slammed the menus down on the table, and walked off in a huff into the kitchen leaving another person to quickly come up and bring us to a table. Suddenly, our brunch mood dissipated, and we felt our welcome had quickly chilled. We apologized for putting anyone in a bad mood and got up and walked out the door. Of course, they apologized as well, but the deed had been done. I do not want anyone in the kitchen that is angry with me. The kicker is that there is another brunch spot nearer home than this one. And that's the one we went to and received excellent service. Lafayette has so many choices for dining that one wrong move will strike you from the list. Sadly, this was a wrong move. I was really excited about the experience. I instantly feel in love with the description of the lemon ricotta poppyseed pancakes. It had all of the makings of a great meal. Boy did it disappoint, it is essentially a pancake with a thin layer of the mixture at the bottom. Not mixing the mixture into the pancake batter was a huge miss and this dish fell flat. The pancake was dry and crumbled when I tried to cut and transfer to a smaller plate. The biscuits and gravy did not look fresh and the biscuits were not smothered just a dollop. The pancakes were huge but dry, the service was quick, but the food was a miss. Neither meal was completed in its entirety. I probably would not return. read more

The Toasted Yolk in Lafayette was such a pleasant experience from start to finish. I went with my family which included my 102 year old grandmother and my 92 year old great aunt who are both very opinionated and picky when it comes to their food. Upon entry we were warmly greeted by the host who kindly held my grandmother's walker behind the hostess stand. I truly appreciated that as they were very accommodating to her needs. We sat in either Jolie or Joelle's section. I forgot her exact name but she was incredibly kind and patient in answering all of our questions about the menu. My great aunt had seen the restaurant on the news and was very excited to try the staple item which was the Toasted Yolk, basically eggs in a basket. She ordered that and I ordered two pancakes for the table. Those pancakes could have easily fed the entire restaurant. I kept seeing them come out to other tables and noticed many people could not finish theirs. I see why. With a table of four we still took a lot home. We added blueberries to ours which took them to another level. For my entree I shared with my grandmother. We ordered the Eiffel Tower Omelette and built our own combination along with grits and a biscuit. Both were very delicious but the pancakes stole the show. The mimosa offerings were plentiful with different flavors to choose from. I had the strawberry one and it was delicious. I would definitely return. The best part was after I dropped my great aunt off my cousin called to tell me she talked for thirty minutes straight about how good the food was. That is a five star review in itself. read more

This is a nice option for brunch. I went on a Saturday afternoon and was able to sit immediately, but they do close at 3. The food came fast, they serve breakfast and lunch the entire time. The junkyard fries appetizer was good, I especially liked the chili. Another honorable mention to the hashbrown casserole. I would like to go back to try some of their cocktails! This was our first time at the Toasted Yolk and I thought it was pretty good. I got the southern fried Arnold with a poached egg. It was pretty tasty and interesting. I love eggs Benedict so I was a little skeptical to taste this take on it, but I was pleasantly surprised. Just make sure you're hungry when you go because the portions are large. The service was very prompt and friendly. We will given blueberry donuts to celebrate our first visit and they were very yummy. I can't wait to go back and try more things. read more

The food was really good. The brisket is Smokey and makes for a great omelet. The cheese grits were excellent and not too grainy. Instead of the country gravy on the eggs Benedict, we choose to get the Cholula Ranch instead.... Oooo it was so tasty. I could drink that ranch! The coffee was strong like we like it. The greeters at the front door weren't too welcoming but other than that our waitress was nice and attentive and refilled our coffee regularly. The restrooms are a little tight but they were clean and everything was stocked. We arrived at 9:42AM and were seated quickly. All in all it was a good experience and we will be back. read more

I had no idea there was a new brunch restaurant that opened. Firstly this is a great location with plenty of parking, and open seating arrangements, tables, booths, and high tops. We arrived and were seated quickly, it was busy however you could tell it's newer and they're working out the timing. I liked the upbeat vibe. For the meal the soup and sandwich was ok, tuna needed more flavor, but the 4 egg omelette was very good, however the hands down star was the Pancakes!!! Which was the size of the plate, and they were actually fluffy and a great vanilla flavor that stood out, now I know why a serving is only two, I could only eat one. Try the two eggs with cake which is the pancake, and I'm sure this will be very filling, with good value. read more

Ordered a crawfish omelette. You would think a crawfish omelette which is made with 4 eggs would have a good bit of crawfish in it to called a crawfish omelette. The whole omelette had 4 small crawfish tails in it and they charge 19.99 for essentially what was an omelette that had l onions and red bell pepper what would be a southwest omelette. There wasn't enough crawfish in it to even justify it as a crawfish omelette. It's a lie and a ripoff. Plus I get a regular coffee with flavored creamers and charge 3.89 and call it gourmet. From the moment we walked through the door this was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had at a restaurant in a very long time. Every staff member we met from the greeter to our amazing waitress Kayla to even the guys clearing the tables had a smile on their face and would greet us and make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The food was great, but we stayed with the standard fair though the biscuits and Arnold's looked amazing. Next time will veer away from ham and eggs and maybe try something fancy. Again, a huge shout out to Kayla, who, from the very first moment she came to our table had a smile that was radiant and warm, made suggestions, checked on us often, and just made it a five star experience. I love this place.. but only on weekdays. I always order the shrimp and grits and it's delicious on weekdays. I tried weekends 2 x's and the grits were lumpy and didn't taste nearly as good as during the week. I think it's bc they are packed during the weekends. read more

What an excellent addition to Lafayette! Large restaurant and bar with plenty of seating. The menu is excellent with lots of choices. The cocktails and entrees are reasonably priced. I had the Southwest Breakfast Bowl and it was very tasty. I doused it in their amazing Garlicky Greengo Hot Sauce! So good. I do hope they add some pictures on the walls as the place is clean and comfortable but the ambience is a bit sterile. However, that is a minor quibble. The waitstaff was kind, which I appreciated, but they got my order wrong and it was impossible to pin down a waiter since they were so understaffed with a full restaurant. I ordered the avocado toast and my husband ordered French toast with a side of bacon. That with two drinks was $50 - which is very expensive! The ambience of the restaurant is like a hotel lobby -the bright green everywhere is very displeasing to the eye. Our waitress was nice and attentive. However, my eggs were supposed to be over medium and they came out so over easy that the egg white was running on my plate. When I mentioned that to the waitress and asked for her to remake them she said the cooks were "probably just in a hurry." This did not make me feel great about the quality of the food. The food was cold ,we reported cold they offered to heat the gravy to try and warm it up!! Then said they would remake food when food returned I was handed a plate full of gravy at the bottom of it and the gravy was cold when touching to gravy on biscuits again it wasn't warm as you would except fresh food from kitchen and the plate we sent back of the cowboy scramble was returned with cold meat and biscuits again my son being hungry still ate the food! We have been here serval times after church but have to say this is the worst food we have ever been served and when given a 2nd chance to serve it and again it is served cold! Once seated we easily waited 5-10 minutes for a server just to order our drinks. Once he finally arrived he said sorry guys it's really really really really busy today and I have three tables over there (motioning on the other side of the partition) and they just double sat me. First off, that's not something you tell your table. Second, I don't want to know why I just want to place a drink order. Water for myself and my daughter as well as a sprite for my daughter. Husband ordered coffee. Our drinks were delivered but coffee was not, citing cleaning coffee mugs. 15/20 minutes later, still no coffee while other tables around us are being served coffee. He finally realized and coffee was brought, "just in time". We ordered our food - we all ordered breakfast, nothing crazy, eggs, pancakes, the Arnold. Easy, right?! Nope. Tables all around us are getting food and yet here we are an hour in and still don't have food. What gives? Finally mine and my husbands food is brought out, without our daughters pancakes. All of it brought by other servers. Our server has yet to check on us, refill drinks, make sure we have everything. The manager seemed to be walking around helping but even he wasn't that much of a help. I don't think I'll be returning until service has improved, if ever. I prefer other places in town, but gave this a shot today to change it up. Management needs improvement, service needs improvement. Food is okay. read more
