    Staff that made the food
    kevin m.

I used to like the food here, they have changed. The staff laugh at you when you tell them there is an issue with the food. Ordered a couple of sandwiches, one had Stale bread. One half of the sandwich they used the heel of the loaf. Don't expect a deli to serve the heel of the loaf. They forgot to send the soup or pickles. The spud was spoiled and my son took one bite and threw it in the garbage. When I called in the manager keep laughing and said they only could put my name in a spreadsheet. They have so many issues they have started a spreadsheet. I drove to site and the laughing manager came out. After showing the food that McAlister had given me two customers left. One man was coming in and I told him, and he went back to his car. If you don't want food poisoning, and don't want laugh at don't go to McAlistet's

    Cucumber Tomato salad?

Window pickup. When I arrived the employees weren't in too much of a hurry to respond to the window. Just before I was going to pull away and park the window opened. I told the girl my name and she looked quizzically at me and went back. A few minutes later I was given my order. When I returned home I found the sandwich cool. I searched for the free pickle but to no avail. For my side I requested the cucumber and tomato salad. I think there is a sliver of a tomato in there, or is it an onion. Kinda dropped the ball on this order.

We often get the macaroni, pasta, and kidney bean salads to enjoy for summer barbecues. Staff is always nice and extremely helpful. Pricing is very fair and there's always something new to find in the aisles. Other offerings include pasta, pasta sauces, wine, sweet treats, fresh desserts, seasonings, crackers, kitchen items, and more! Highly recommend stopping in and giving Rubino's items a try this summer; you won't be disappointed! Tip: Bring cash to avoid the 2.5% credit card surcharge. Pro Tip: If you are worried about crowds, call to order ahead and pick up items easily.

Not good. Not good. Not good. Regrettably ordered two "made to order" sandwiches from their deli…read morecounter. Both sucked BIG TIME. First sandwich was a custom sub sandwich of turkey, Genoa salami, and rosemary ham with cheese, tomatoes, vinegar/oil, and Italian spices. How a sandwich could taste funny is beyond me, but it did. The meat tasted old and was flavorless. It was pre-cut, not freshly cut meat, so who knows how long it had been sitting out in the counter. The bread was stale, could have broke windows with it. They barely put any meat on it (not that I would have wanted more), the sandwich was all bread. No Italian herbs on sandwich. And the icing on the cake, instead of putting a nice, fresh vinegar and oil/sub oil on the sandwich, I was given a two ounce little package of some generic vinegar and oil that was pre-fabricated by some wholesale company, which also tasted really off. The second regrettable purchase was an Italian sausage sandwich. That too was horrendous. The sausage itself had a funny, off taste, not a nice blend of seasonings. And not that I would have wanted more, but the Italian sausage was old and shriveled, so it was like a child-size portion. I asked for some red sauce on the side, let's just say Ragu would have been better, and that's not saying much. To add further insult to injury, the bun was stale. Also got some Nutella butter cookies that they farm in from D'Amatos that is in the city. I have been in D'Amatos and I love their cookies. With that said, these D'Amato cookies were stale/also tasted off. The tip-off should have been the fact that they must have had fifty or more packaged D'Amatos cookies on their shelf. They are bumping $10.00 for around maybe 12 cookies, so they obviously don't sell all that quickly, turn stale, and there you have it. Also weird vibe in there. The employees (including the Rubino son who is always in the deli area) are not friendly at all. I might be a little bit more forgiving if the employees/owner were nice but they are just really indifferent and very unfriendly (especially the owner). Very unfortunate. Sandwiches from Subway would have been better.

Darla's claims to be a deli and gaming parlor, but they got rid of a lot of the menu since the last time. Has actual beers and a few premade cookies and stuff to choose from. There's also a few healthy options. A little place on the end of a strip mall. It doesn't look like much, and it isn't really. The inside has a few slots and tables. Also they have a few beers. It's about $2 for bottles of domestics. They have the usual stuff like Miller Lite. As for the food, it made changes to the menu about what is available. It's gotten rid of all the sandwiches, including the Peanut Butter And Jelly Sandwich. That sucks. It's about $2 for a bag of chips. There's not much in the way of food except some cookies and pastries. Cool place to have some beers and get food. It's unique from most delis because this has slots, so it's also a gaming parlor. The food menu is limited because there's no more of typical deli things, such as sandwiches.

I ended up discovering I had a plain slim with cheese with maybe 4 slices of ham in the giant. Then the second sandwich was TURKEY - which neither of my kids will eat. Unfortunately we did not have time to go back so I wasted money for a giant that no one could eat (I am celiac). The turkey sandwich also had barely any meat in it. The guy behind the counter stared at me as if I was rude to come in a few minutes after opening while his coworker took over the phone orders. There were no customers in the store. Just me. I went this morning to New Lenox - same sandwiches, online ordered, and for exactly what I wanted with sandwiches properly and fully made. Zero issues. I've had several issues with incorrect orders at the Frankfort location - not to mention the slowest service almost every time. I'm two minutes from Frankfort and ten from new Lenox. I'll drive the extra 8 minutes for reliability and service.
