When Placing an order online there are a few automatic charges that pop in that cause concern. There is an automatic 15% tip which is unusual since I am picking it up. However this can be changed if you manually change it. I also noticed an unusual web site fee of 51 cents. Needless to say I have swicthed to a different place to eat when ordering online after seeing these not so easy to see charges. We love to order food from here for lunch on some of our beach days. It's consistently pretty good. Every now and then the soup will be watery or they'll forget the pickles or something, but overall a good experience. I like to order on the app but it needs some tweaks. You should be able to ask for extra pickles, swap out honey mustard for ranch or vice versa on some of the sandwiches, etc. Overall it's a great choice for lunch. read more

I can't understand why this amazing deli hasn't been reviewed in some time. I cannot let it go any longer without one. While vacationing, in the mood for deli style food, we decided to give McAllister's a try. I must say it did not disappoint in any way! My compliments to its chef for putting out a delicious lunch for us. I had a half chefs salad and half French dip sandwich. My husband had half chefs salad and half Italian sandwich. It helps to have expectations in check. The term "deli" connotes, to me, matzo ball soup, big fat sloppy reubens that take like 4 utensils to handle, and kosher pickles you could swing and knock people out with. This ain't that connotation. But for lunch while running errands--it will do. I almost left when I walked in because there was a long line of elderly women ahead of me with one harried lady taking orders. But I decided that being an impatient jerk is just way too easy and I'm all about doing the hard work to be a better person. I thought there would be interminable questions about "Is it gluten-free?" "Will the poppy seeds stick in my dentures?" and "Is the sweet tea, too sweet?", but the oldsters cracked right through their ordering process and I had to remember that some day I will be terrifically old and shuffle into a chain deli in my slippers, faded sleep pants, and Hawaiian shirt and by God order my cup of tomato bisque all by my proud self. McAlister was apparently a failed dentist in Mississippi (probably not many teeth to work with there--and damn, taking easy shots like that is NOT making me a better person), who did a hell of a lot better with sandwiches, soups, spuds, and salads. Surprisingly, as of 2019, the McAlister franchises have beaten out Papa Johns, Arby's, and Hardees according to the Entrepeneur Top 500 Franchises list. It has to be on the strength of the tater salad. That tater salad is mustard based and except for missing little bits of boiled egg in it--is just LIKE my mommas! Most of the social situations my parents get invited to, they want her to bring her tater salad, (and maybe leave my dad home). To me, it was just that good. My Harvest Chicken Salad was pretty to look at and well constructed but I was maybe expecting gleaming chunks of white chicken meat, pecan halves and other yummy bits and was a tad disappointed that the chicken salad was less chunky with stuff and more creamy, like somebody turned the blender on and looked at their cell, then was like, oh hell, it'll still taste good. It did taste good, but texture matters. A serviceable lunch--sandwiched in, as it were, between getting a painting framed and getting the car washed. Absolutely terrible. Service was slow...25 minutes for food for three of us. Gave my husband's sandwich to another table. No apology. Had to ask for silverware. Had to ask for our drinks. First time here, my wife and I both of our food I had the salad sandwich combo and my wife just had a salad but both were excellent. Much better than some other sandwich shops. Do you have one big complaint there is a girl working at the counter with purple hair. She was very rude when we were ordering, we were unaware of that. Consider this the worst place you could ever visit. In order a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon, it came ice cold with no bacon. They took it back and remade it, sent it back to me literally with cold unmelted cheese and cold bread. She went to check on the order which is normal. There was a long line of customers waiting to order, all of which got to hear a cook in the rear arguing with the other employee about my order. The cook refused to make the other half of my order. She shared that news with everyone in the place due to the volume of her voice. Apparently, after ordering a whole sandwich, I was charged for a half and received a half. Food was good, I didn't receive a receipt so I couldn't review the order. Things happen. I hadn't been there for years and have noticed that I seldom see it busy like in the years past. Today we decided to go for lunch. Their daily feature is a $10.49 combination of 2 items. I asked the cashier what was included and she pointed to the menus of all the salads, all the soups, all the sandwiches etc. I asked if we could choose any 2 and she said "yes, any for $10.49". So my wife and I did. The bill should have been about $21.00 plus tax. Well the bill was over $30.00 and I asked why. She said she didn't know so we looked closely at the charges and my 1/2 salad was up-charged $1.69 and my wife's salad and sandwich were EACH up-charged $1.69. I asked why and she said we "must have chosen items that cost more"! I said What? You said choose any for $10.49 and even showed us the choices". Well we took it as they would do anything and when the food came the salad was small. Definitely not a decent lunch portion but the chili was simply uneatable. It tasted and looked like that cheap ground chili people put on hot dog right out of a can. The $1.00 variety made from animal pieces - gross. On top of that it was dry and tasted burnt and old. I mentioned how disappointed we were to them only to get no response like - you bought it - you eat it. So now I know why it no longer is busy. I'm sure that somewhere in fine print it has to say "Exceptions cost more" so I encourage future customers to know before you go - it ain't the old Mc Alisters Deli! read more

There was nothing "max" about my Spud Max - very little in the way of toppings, and absolutely not worth $10.99. The sandwich in my order looked great, but was missing the pickle - again. First time this happened, I was told you have to specifically ask for the pickle spear that comes with every sandwich if you want it in a to-go order. Second time, I did that (there's a check box), then looked for it before I left the store. No pickle, and no side item. I asked for one and got 4, tossed in a lidded cup. The missing side was literally thrown through the kitchen window. I guess that's why there were only 3 people in the place at 5:30pm, and two of them were at the counter placing their order. The food usually tastes good, but I'm not willing to pay full price for much less than promised in the menu. A pre-paid to-go order offers an establishment a measure of trust. I'd give 0 stars if that was a possibility . I walked in ordered a spud at 7:00 was told it would be a 30 Minute wait so left with my boyfriend placed an online order and planned to come get it. They instantly called me and said they didn't have any then I responded letting them know they JUST told me they would have some in 30 minutes , all of a sudden my food was ready in 5 minutes .... Crazy. I get my food open it and it is completely opposite of what I ordered ... I wait , it's now been an hour and I am told they can't get me my food and I will have to wait ... finally she said I can't get a potato at all and am being refunded . NEVER AGAIN! When I asked to speak to the manager I was told she was the one making my potato and she chose to take a loaded potato and give it to me instead of what I ordered so she didn't have to make more! My husband and I went to McAlister's Deli Sunday for lunch. They were very busy, a line that extended out the door! We waited in line, which was a normal amount of time for the number of customers waiting. We placed our order at the counter to a very sweet young woman. She was very efficient and showed no signs of pressure. Finding a table was no problem, but after trying two empty tables we found one I thought was clean. We sat down only to have our hands stick to the table. In fact the front counter, the credit card machine, even the number card she gave us was sticky! I'm trying to remember that most restaurants are running on less than a full staff. I still believe that counters, card machines, tables should be wiped after each customer. Yes, even the edges! All the complaining aside, the food was absolutely delicious! No complaints at all. read more
