veggie "please do not call me potato" spud and 1/2 and 1/2 tea of which i drank about 1/4 before pic
    Avery V.

food - i went to the restaurant with my dad, and ordered the veggie spud, which was thoroughly tasty, toppings, fillings, skin and all. my only minor critique is the item being called a spud rather than potato, which i'd surmise might be too reminiscent of the notorious famine for such a restaurant that eponymously suggests irish heritage. i also got a 1/2 and 1/2 tea, which was quite refreshing and skillfully balanced. my dad got the nachos, which he reported were tasty also, though a little on the "chippy" side from what he has become accustomed from ordering that dish before. service - the service was efficient and friendly, which is especially appreciated because of the budding lunch rush during which we ordered. also, though the cashier was not the same worker who delivered our good food - i went to the restaurant with my dad, and ordered the veggie spud, which was thoroughly tasty, toppings, fillings, skin and all. my only minor critique is the item being called a spud rather than potato, which i'd surmise might be too reminiscent of the notorious famine for such a restaurant that eponymously suggests irish heritage. i also got a 1/2 and 1/2 tea, which was quite refreshing and skillfully balanced. my dad got the nachos, which he reported were tasty also, though a little on the "chippy" side from what he has become accustomed from ordering that dish before. service - the service was efficient and friendly, which is especially appreciated because of the budding lunch rush during which we ordered. also, though the cashier was not the same worker who delivered our food or cleared the plates from the table, she was the worker with whom we had the most interaction. and although i did not ask her name, i'll note she was wearing shiny green shamrock earrings, a festive reminder of st pattys day tomorrow. ambiance - as mentioned before, the restaurant was starting to get a lunch rush when we were arriving, and the guest flow looked to increase while we ate. that said, the restaurant remained efficient, and accomadated everybody well. and further, i'd like to note a main appeal of the restaurant for me is it's variety of seating options, including tables, booths, and outdoor patio seating, all with centralized ordering from a walk-up counter.

I have been here before, and it was nothing to write home about. Today was quite a pleasant experience. Our service was great. I tried their new pecan berry salad, and it was wonderful. This was a very clean establishment, as well.

King club sandwich with yellow potato salad

Visited McAlister's deli near 21st and yale. I had a great experience and the food was amazing! It's always a great sight to see a restaurant full of people. I ordered the king club with the potato salad. The club sandwich was nothing short of a king sized sandwich... at times I didn't know if my big mouth was big enough to take a full bite of this king club sandwich. The potato salad was the perfect texture and even though I prefer a white potato salad, but McAlister's Deli potato salad is the bomb!!! Check this place out and check out the pics!!! Cleanliness: 7/10 Service: 8/10 Size of my sandwich: 11/10

I had the half and half combo. I had the Cuban and chicken salad. It was excellent and I loved the meal.

I used to live near this McAllister's so I visit often. I would have given it five stars or year ago, but my take-out order wasn't the best. I ordered the Savannah salad to go, but there was so much more lettuce and less everything else (cucumbers, cheese, etc) that it was not a very good. However, the chicken in the salad at McAllister's always taste so good! Also, there was a mushy lettuce pieces. I don't think it was very fresh. On a good note, the girl who checked me out was super friendly. And the food was ready as soon as I got there.

It had been a while since I visited McAllister, and I was recently needing to find a fast place with healthy-ish choices. So, I decided McAllister could be a good option! I don't know if it's just been so long since I was here last or if I just didn't notice before, but the menu was bigger than I remember, which made me super happy. It did take me longer than I thought it would take me to order because of that (and I think I was kind of annoying the cashier with not being ready with my order) but there was just such a good amount to choose from... I ended up going with the savannah salad and was extremely pleased with it. It was a good amount of mixed greens at the bottom, blue cheese, honey almonds, and a generous amount of grilled chicken. There may have been some other things in there but I don't think I remember, and those things I mentioned were the standouts anyways. Maybe dried cranberries? The flavors worked together extremely well and I especially loved the sweetness that the honey almonds gave... even the bleu cheese had a nice honey sweetness to it, I thought at least. The dressing was a balsamic vinaigrette and came in a little cup on the side. I liked that they did that because it let you decide how much or little dressing you wanted. Sometimes I feel like places skimp you on the salad dressing, but I don't feel like they did here. It was maybe a bit thicker creamier than others. It was nice. That may have also helped make it go longer and not run out as fast. Because I was so pleasantly surprised by my salad, I'm sure I'll be coming back more often for that same salad again and to maybe try some other things too!

I had to take a picture with a McAlisters girl! They are all so cute with their headbands on FREE TEA DAY!

Both sandwiches came with homemade potato chips, a mix of regular and sweet potato and they were absolutely delicious. The Dutch Crunch Sandwich was packed with turkey, bacon, swiss, tomato, arugula, and avocado mayo on dutch crunch bread. They don't skimp on toppings at all, there was plenty of turkey and bacon, and every bite was flavorful. Dalton's Double Deuce was another standout. Ham, egg salad, olive tapenade, and arugula on a fresh Italian roll. It felt like a grown up version of an egg salad sandwich. The olive tapenade adds a great punch of flavor, though it leans a little salty. And the cookies... unbelievably good. Truly some of the best cookies I've had. The Brown Sugar Cookie has a gooey center and deep caramel flavor, and the Oatmeal Cookie without no raisins, surprised me, I didn't miss the raisins at all. It tastes like it has a light honey glaze to me, and it's phenomenal. Trenchers is definitely a new favorite.

They seemed like they had been fried ahead of time because by the time I got them, they were soggy, which was a bit disappointing. I paired everything with a root beer, and overall it was a fantastic meal. Aside from the chips, I really enjoyed it and would definitely come back.

Gambill's is the best Italian food I've ever had and they are extraordinarily consistent in quality across each dish, quality across each visit, and quality of staff. Gambill's feels like a hole-in-the-wall place you just feel lucky to have found and are proud to support. They make all of their pasta fresh to order, all of their sauces and desserts in-house, and all of their pizzas are slow-fermented sourdough from a 233 year-old sourdough starter. And let me tell you, you can taste every bit of that family-owned, made with fresh ingredients, made in-house, and made with love flavor in every bite of every dish. I've gotten many things from Gambill's over the years, but I always go back to my regular order: Fettuccini Pesto Alfredo and Pesto Cheese Focaccia. The noodles are exquisite--soft and tender and perfectly cooked. The sauce is creamy, smooth, and extremely flavorful, bringing in the creamy and savory elements of a classic Alfredo sauce while pulling to the forefront the herbal flavors of the pesto in a way that strikes the precise balance. There is a ton of the pesto Alfredo sauce and it pairs just right with the noodles. The focaccia bread is loaded with a savory and powerful pesto they make in-house and smothered in fresh, melted mozzarella. It's the perfect complement to the fettuccini pesto Alfredo and you can dip the bread in any extra pesto Alfredo sauce you may have. Their Chicken Piccata is also excellent! The chicken is a tender and moist fried chicken. The sauce is creamy and generous with a nice lemon flavor that is not overly tart and with plenty of capers that provided a good balance and added an additional sour flavor that helped bring out the body of the sauce. However, the biggest star of the show is the generous bed of linguine pasta. Like all of their noodles, the pasta was delicious and soft with a great texture and the creamy sauce really complemented the pasta perfectly. Their pizza is great and the sourdough crust is a star! It has a very sweet and delicious pizza sauce that really stands out, especially compared to other pizzas. Their cheesecake is amazing! It's smooth, rich, and creamy with a dense and rich center. However, as good as that was, the standout component in this cheesecake is the crust. The crust is often my least favorite part, but this crust has a deep caramel and perhaps slightly nutty taste that was different from any other crust I've ever had. The caramel flavor profile cut through yet balanced and complemented the creamy rich flavor of the cheesecake itself for an excellent top-to-bottom bite. The cannolis are the best I've ever had and I'm not even a big fan of cannolis! They have a crunchy exterior and a rich and creamy interior loaded with chocolate chips. The service is wonderful! The staff are so nice and friendly! Any place you can frequent and be recognized and asked if you "want the usual" is a special place. I'm blessed to have even formed friendships and talk about our work and kids and life in general. This may be my longest review, but it is for good reason! I cannot recommend Gambill's enough or begin to express how much I love it and value its place in my life. If you only try one new restaurant this decade, I encourage you to make it Gambill's! 5/5 (Favorite!)

I ordered the Hunter, which comes with Rabbi's Pastrami, Russian Dressing, Swiss Cheese, and Sauerkraut. Typically this comes on Rye bread, but they'd run out by the time I got there. The Housemade Club was a fine replacement though! This sandwich was so good. The sauerkraut was a 10/10 and the house cured pastrami was extremely flavorful and filling. The sandwich options come in both 6oz and 12oz. I personally think the 6oz was more than enough! Each order comes with a pickle and chips. I ate half of my sandwich right away (amazing) and then half a little later. The pastrami and saurkraut are so juicy that it did make an impact on the bottom piece of bread, BUT I still ate every bite and would still highly recommend. Just keep in mind that it is best when eating soon after you've gotten your food! Either way, you'll need some napkins close at hand.

Kinda hard being a first visit. Went for brunch with daughter. It is exactly as others (Yelp,…read moreGoogle) have reviewed. It is strictly serve yourself. For us it took a bit to get use to even in the smallish area. It's arranged in a sort of circle -- staff and food in the middle and you walk around it, getting drinks, napkins, silverware, etc. The staff seemed nice enough, opposing other reviews. They gave us menus that we took to a table to look over. It was quite small. I didn't see pastry offerings, but it was our first visit. I want to see signs -- What it is & how much$. I hate it when grocery stores can't get their signage in line with their pricing. Honestly, I don't recall which sandwiches we ordered but we both had their house cured meat. She liked it, I didn't care for it. To me it was like Sunday beef roast on a sandwich. The little shopping area is really cute. We didn't have time that day to poke around. I hope this helps you navigate your visit. It's always a good idea to know what you're getting into. We'll go back, with better knowledge.
