food i'd went to lunch at the restaurant with momma after morning mass service a couple weeks ago at the nearby st. rita chapel. i ordered the salad bar meal, as that is what i've got memories of getting on previous visits during childhood. at the salad bar, i'd assembled a salad with multicolor romaine, spinach, tomatoes, 2 eggs, and green goddess dressing, the latter having a sign above it saying the dressing was new to the restaurant. then, after assembling the salad and getting near the end of the self serve bar, i saw the cornbread and the gingerbread mini muffins and recalled returning to the salad bar for multiple servings of each on previous visits. and while i'd only had one of each during the recent visit, both were delectable, with the cornbread mini muffin being the one i preferred but the gingerbread one being more rare of a food item you could find, both at a restaurant and in general. another item i'd got near the end of the salad bar was a side plate of grapes, which provided a sweet tasty treat that bridged any gap between the salad bar lunch and dessert. further, the salad was delightful, with every component having a fresh taste and complementing one another outstandingly. i'll add too that the green goddess dressing brought the various ingredients together well, and gets at least one vote for a permanent spot on the jason deli salad bar. also, while i remember usually getting a fountain drink with the salad bar meal, i'd seen an individual nature valley milk with straw pouch in the cooler by the register, and chose it because i'd not seen such a milk pouch by any brand other than hiland, and the nature valley milk pouch did not disappoint, having a fresh and smooth taste. and lastly, moving onto another dairy product, i was glad to see that the restaurant still featured a self serve soft serve ice cream machine, a feature i only recall seeing at jason deli, in addition to chinese and other types of asian buffets. i got a cone of chocolate ice cream, and while not mind blowing, did hit the spot. service the service was efficient and professional at every junction. first, the register worker who received our order was kind and friendly, with the workers who then gave us salad bar trays displaying a similar demeanor. next, while i was assembling the salad, i'd noticed a worker moving skillfully around me to rotate items on the salad bar, a food safety and restaurant practice i'd say is essential for delivering any successful buffet experience, especially such a salad bar with so much fresh food. in similar vain, another worker wheeled a dish cart throughout the restaurant to clear and clean tables, another critical practice for such a seat yourself restaurant. ambiance the ambiance was open and various, featuring several tables near floor to ceiling windows looking out to the surrounding cherry street restaurant and shopping district, along with multiple rooms conducive for large party dining. read more

Jason's Deli is my Absolute Favorite place to go for great fresh and delicious food!! I've chosen sandwiches, soups, and salads but I'm in love with the Buid Your Own Salad bar!!! I have to place an order at least once a week lol. Often I share with my hubby because you get such a good amount of salad I get filled up quite quickly. There's so many salad bar options to choose from, including tasty pasta salad or yummy black beans and corn, whether I add my 'have to have cup of soup' Jason's Deli is always affordable. Pros: Location, easy access, and ambiance. Cons: Many of the salad bar dishes and silverware were not thoroughly cleaned. I was given a plate that had cheese on the side. When I asked for another plate, the staff member had to remove a few plates from the stack to find a clean one. read more

Wry busy place, but the food is incredible and priced well. The staff gets pretty busy so not always the warmest greeting or service, but they are never rude or unwilling to help. The stairs are a challenge for my mom after her knee surgery, but the location is great and at the center of a lot of fun places to visit after a lunch date with friends. read more

At first it was just the business weeks but as time kept up its cruel march forward toward oblivion, away from memory and meaning, those work weeks, dear reader, became calendar weeks. I'm still happy with the salad bar here. Last time, the lettuce did seem a little wilted, but it ended up being totally fine, especially after I added all the other great salad toppings. The only thing that I wish was better was if they had a few meat options for the salad bar. I know it would be harder to keep that fresh, but I was thinking about it the other day.... What if they made it an option to add the meat when you first order, so they could provide it to you fresh (and have it delivered to your table as with every other menu item) without having to have the meat sit at the salad bar. Does that make sense? Also, they used to have light ranch dressing, but the past few times they've only had regular ranch. At first I thought they were just out, but now I think it's permanently gone/ replaced. It's fine, but I did like how the light ranch was first of all a slightly healthier option, but it was also less thick than the regular ranch. However, I do like the semi-new jalapeño ranch dressing. My favorite now is to mix a little of that with a little of the regular ranch and it works great! Though there's still a few things that could improve, it remains an overall good deal for the salad bar. read more

I came here just for the salad bar and it had a really good variety of items you can add to your salad. My favorite item on the salad bar was the garlic bread. It was small and hard like a chip, but it had the standard garlic bread taste, which is what I loved about this item. They even had ice cream here which also tasted pretty good. There are a couple of changes I would like to see on the salad bar: 1. Improve the bacon quality (it was really fatty). 2. Add more fruit to the salad bar (such as pineapple). 3. Add a couple more different types of cheeses to the salad bar. If these changes happened here, this restaurant would definitely be 5 stars for me. read more

There was a crazy person putting their dirty bare hands all in the salad bar. I like the salad bar, but at this point I'm not touching it again. I don't want dirty bare hands all in my lettuce even before Covid, but now there is a pandemic going on. The woman spilled some stuff over and put it back. I got a refund and left. When I've been indulging in all those foods that one should not indulge in too much and my belt starts running out of holes, this is where I go to get healthy food that also tastes great. A half sandwich and soup will fill you up and not have your doctor screaming about your blood work. The salad bar has a bit of everything to elevate your salad to a meal instead of just being a bowl of greens. And yes, there is a soft serve ice cream machine if you must have a taste of sweet. This is the first time we had eaten at this location and we ate here before a concert. My husband, daughter, friend and I all got the salad bar. By the time we got to the concert I was starting to feel awful and could not even sit through the concert. My friends are a little nauseated but thankfully not bad and my daughter was fine but my husband woke up in the early morning hours feeling awful too. Free ice cream isn't free if you're allergic to the cone. So, I used to enjoy Jason's Deli. They have halfway decent food, and usually friendly wait staff. Today was a different, however. Today my wife was yelled at, actually yelled at, for attempting to get free ice cream in a paper container instead of a cone, BECAUSE SHE IS ALLERGIC TO GLUTEN. Apparently, it is no longer allowed to get free ice cream in anything but a cone, even if you're allergic to the cone. They told her she either had to eat the FREE ice cream in a cone, or pay $3 for a paper cup. When my wife told the employee that she had done this many times before, he threatened to charge her for all the times she had eaten the ice cream in a cup previously. Another customer actually informed the Jason's deli employee that the ice cream is, in fact, free, but the employee responded that it's only free when it's in a cone. I would say that the manager should have gotten involved, but I think this actually was the manager, he was dressed differently than other employees. I don't plan to return to this restaurant in the future. And neither should you. read more

Great food. HOWEVER, they are not to be trusted with to go orders. I take the risk because I've been eating their food for years and I love it but they mess it up 99% of the time. I have learned to triple check my food before leaving. Tonight my triple check still failed me as they disguised my tomato soup as broccoli cheddar. I had not been to Jason's Deli in a while and was reminded a week or so as I drove down 15th. I saw the sign and recalled they have a great pastrami sandwich. I decided it was time to head back there and check it out. As you can imagine, I ordered a pastrami sandwich on a hoagie roll with some swiss cheese and mustard. It was brought out with a side of potato chips. The sandwich was great. When I moved here a little over 10 years ago I was missing a good pastrami sandwich like I used to get in CA. I ate at sandwich places all over town trying to find a decent one and Jason's Deli had the best I could find at the time. The sandwich is still good! If pastrami isn't your thing; they have all kinds of other stuff too. A huge salad bar and plenty of other options. The dining area is open seating and can fill up pretty quick at lunch. The best part about the experience though is the free ice cream cone at the end. Who wouldn't want free ice cream?!?! read more

I came here for a light dinner before formal. The workers were nice but very quiet. Our order took longer than it should've, considering we were a party of two and the restaurant only had one other party there. The food is very good, but the portions are huge for salads. Great thing about Jason's is you can walk into one anywhere and expect the same thing, fresh food, a familiar menu and free frozen yogurt!!! I am always happy with the quality of my food when I eat here. They are NOT afraid of special orders, I get a eyebrow raise when I order sandwiches a wrap, but as a girl allergic to yeast and eggs it s nice change from eating with a fork and knife! The only issue with this location is if you try to goo at noon finding parking is a battle royal!! They even have a guy that stands in the parking lot to make sure you are going into Jason's or they will tow your car! The staff is super friendly and helpful and service is usually quick, even when they are packed. We eat here quite often. It's nearby to our kids house and they always have a good meal. I like the salad bar with a side of soup. Unassuming from the outside, a cute, high-ceilinged deli on the inside. The staff is friendly, fun, and full of good recommendations. Additionally, we were able to try different things before settling on what we wanted. I ordered a garden sandwich with the gumbo and my SO ordered the spicy jack toasted sandwich (sub ham) with the beef stew. Mine came with fresh fruit and sweet cream, his came with chips and a pickle spear. Everything was absolutely fresh and quality. Typical Jason's Deli food but in a much cooler environment than a strip mall location. The building is a 1900's school house that has been converted into a couple of different businesses. Parking can be tough, so I recommend coming at off-peak hours. Very friendly staff and plenty of seating. read more
