They are old school in the BEST possible way. Consistent, no shortcuts, and you can tell they put care in making food. It's sad that that's a rarity now-a-days. I've only been to PJs three times but today I was able to walk in get a sandwich to go and leave within 10 minutes. Every time I go the staff is super sweet and ensures that I get the most out of my order. Today I had a ham and cheese Sandwich on rye bread with coleslaw. And they reminded me that every time I come in I get a small dessert and today I chose the chocolate chip cookie that was so good. This is the best sandwich shop in town. Very afford and everything is delicious. I have tried the turkey avocado, the drip, the chicken salad, and their largest sandwich which I don't remember the name. My favorite sandwiches are the turkey avocado and the beef drip. Their best deal is 1/2 sandwich and chili/soup. I like both the chili and soup. For the chili, the option to not include beans is traditional. For the soup, I like the chicken noodle. Chili and soup are homemade or at least taste like it. If you pay with cash, you get a free cookie. The restaurant is in the corner by an antique shop. I love the arrangements and decorations inside. It feels very homey and welcoming. It's great for people who yearn to return to a distant past, to escape from modern society, and to return to a simpler time. The service is quick. Visited this little gem of a sandwich shop for the first time today. I'd never heard of it before, never knew it was there, but some of the neighbors were talking about how good it is, so I checked out their menu and noticed a particular sandwich that intrigued me, so I decided to give it a try. The sandwich I tried was the ham, pineapple, and cream cheese. My sister likes the more traditional sandwiches, and got the ham and cheese. Both were delicious. For the sides, she got potato salad, which she said was excellent, and I got the pasta salad, which was also excellent. You get a lot of food for your money. I had been looking for a good sandwich shop, and this one does not disappoint. The shop itself is small, but very cozy. Food can be ordered to dine in or carry out. WOW!!!! My husband and I have lived in Tulsa our whole lives and somehow didn't know PJ's existed. Clearly a hidden gem of Tulsa. This is definitely a hidden gem! The employees were sweet and they also have outdoor seating. It's very cozy feeling inside and quiet! I got the pineapple cream cheese sandwich and it was so fresh and delicious. My husband got the meatloaf sandwich and enjoyed it. I tried the meatloaf and it was super good as well! The potato salad and Mac salad were also good!! My husband also got a sugar cookie with lemon icing and they iced it right there for you. It was so lemony and fresh! Good solid sandwich shop. Waitress didn't know what gluten free was but I was able to determine that the chili was gluten free. Their menu is quite large which surprised me. Quite an array of sandwiches and salads and chili dishes. I think they offer one soup choice per day, at least the day we were there it was just tomato soup. They have a dripped beef sandwich that looked fabulous. They do not offer gluten free bread, tho, I wish I had brought some of my own. So I had the Frito chili pie and the Fritos were on top which threw me off at first. I didn't think there was any cheese, but it was under the Fritos. So I got more cheese. Asked for sour cream but they were out of it. They give you the option of beans/no beans in the chili which is very nice! The chili was on the bland side, which is how I kinda like it, and they offer jalapeños to spice it up. I'm not sure if they have any hot sauce, tho. I would have liked a few drops. We got there early, but the place filled up! And the hours are limited to lunch. My friends loved their sandwiches and potato salad. They turned on a heater for us as it was a bit chilly that day. We went for lunch around 2:30. They let us sit and look over the menu. An employee brought us waters and told us a server would be right over. We knew they closed at 3, so we said we would take them to go and the server was so friendly and insisted we stay. We didn't want to be those people who come at close, but we stayed since they were so nice about it. We ordered a half sandwich/half soup, a Turkey avocado sandwich with potato salad, and a strawberry salad. They came out fast and were so delicious. Our friend is little, so the woman made her a full size sandwich which was so sweet. The salad was full of goods-strawberry, feta, mandarin oranges, grilled chicken, grapes, sunflower seeds, blueberries all on spring mix. It was so good and the chicken had a great flavor. And the sandwich was good, the ingredients nice and fresh with some really good rye bread. The potato salad was dressing heavy and I was a little worried at first. But wow, the flavor was so good, it didn't matter. It was clearly a little mom&pop shop. It was cute and simple inside. Nothing too elaborate, good little place to grab lunch. One of my coworkers is related to someone at Pjs, so they hooked us up with a variety of everything at a great price. Then I was introduced to their Ham, Pineapple, and Cream Cheese. This heavenly piece of edible art is one of the most magical things that a human being can ingest. I could not believe how good a little sandwich could be. So here I am, on my day off.. I was just passing through Tulsa on my way to the airport and decided to try some local fare, what I found honestly felt like a gem that you'd see in the movie Big Fish (go watch it now, I'll wait). Okay, so what did I like? First it was a no nonsense kinda menu. Like, look, we make a chicken salad, and it doesn't come with weirdness, no apples, no onions, no kidding! I love mom and pop restaurants but how bout a mom and daughter & grands keep-it-in-the-family dining spot? PJ aka Peggy Jo has been around the block a few times as she formerly was in Utica Square for 20 years but needed to expand to this off the beaten path location between Harvard & Yale & 31 st. Quaint, unassuming and warm and friendly, they went overboard to offer us a free 1/2 cup sample of chili and 2 freshly baked cookies. Now that's what I call service! We ordered the french dip and the tomato soup & 1/2 of a club sandwich which had enough contents to place on a regular size sandwich of 2 slices which I did! I had been wanting to try PJ's for quite some time now as I had heard and read really good things about it! Everything I heard and read was true! What a little gem nestled in the back corner of a beaten down strip mall next to midtown hardware. The decor was quaint and the restaurant was filled with a diverse lunch crowd. Two big chalkboards on the wall displayed the sandwiches as well as in the menu. So, many choices...however I decided on the BLT with a potato salad and a cup of tomato basil soup. The BLT was fresh and tasty and the potato salad was just like you would have at grandma's house. Delicious!! The soup was hot and very fresh! I am so happy that I finally tried this place. I have never been to PJ's until recently, but will definitely be back! They have a beef drip sandwich that is finger licking good. The sandwiches are always made to order, so they are very fresh. I have not had the deserts yet, but they are rumored to be out of this world. We went towards the late lunch time and there was not a wait. Cutest little place I've ever seen! It is hidden in a little shopping center with an antique store and an old timey hardware store and PJ's is the perfect fit there. I stopped on my way to the Hard Rock in Catoosa and I'm so glad I did. I tried half of two different sandwiches (chicken salad and turkey avocado) with chips and an iced tea. Both kinds were delicious and I honestly could've had just one half and been full. I love that they brought sweet and dill pickles too! It was clear it was my first time (I didn't sit to order and was just standing there looking at the chalkboards like a newbie) so they brought me a lemon cookie to finish my meal, something they do for all first timers. It was the perfect size and balance of sweet and tart. They told me they make all the salads (chicken salad, pasta salad, etc) and baked goods from scratch and it shows.
