    cheese pizza

We wanted to get a quick dinner nearby and this place looked busy so gave it a try. Food was "ok" and the drinks were "meh". I ordered a small cheese pizza was reminiscent of Mama Celeste's frozen pizza. My garden salad was what you would expect at any takeout pizza joint...edible. My husband got the fish sandwich which was "so/so". Better options on the island, for sure.

Three stars and as far as I'm concerned it's a gift. Ok, I was on Block Island a few weeks ago for work. Block Island is part of Rhode Island, and Covid is wreaking havoc on Rhode Island. Highest Covid infection rate in the country. As a result the are in a "Pause". Or lockdown. We couldn't stay overnight so in and out same day. Weather was terrible so when I was finished with work we just drove around sightseeing. 98% of restaurants were closed but turns out Mcloon's is open, so we'll have a late lunch/early dinner. Sign says Covid rules are in effect, but the hostess has a mask that is only covering her mouth but not her nose. Why bother at all. Only one other table occupied so we can sit most anywhere. My wife orders Fish & Chips which she said was one of the best she has ever had. GOD HELP ME. I order their stuffed Flounder, which comes with wild rice. Seafood on an Island should be good right? Two pieces of flounder stuffed with a seafood mix. To start, they are not hot, not warm either. So I'll wait for our waitress to come so they can reheat it. Clearly pre made and heated up. So I wait and wait and wait. Finally she comes around and I send it back for reheat Took forever, in fact my wife was finished before she came back with my food. Sorry but a big disappointment for me. Not sure if I'll be back to Block Island but if I do, I'll go when more restaurants are open, and they are plentiful on Block Island.

Perfect Irish restaurant on Block Island that my family has been going to every trip for years! Friendly staff, great location, and lots of options on the menu for everyone!

We stopped in for lunch yesterday. The French onion soup was perfect & really hit the spot on this cold November day! The small house salad with homemade honey mustard dressing was good, too. My husband had the NE clam chowder with 2 clam cakes. Yummy! Our waitress was very friendly & service was great. I love the atmosphere here with some really cool antiques & Irish decor.

    chicken parm

The staff was friendly and decor was nice. I ordered the chicken parm, which i probably wasn't the best choice at an Irish pub. It was not very good, I ate it because I was hungry but definitely would not recommend this meal to anyone. I am sure if I ordered a burger or the Shepards pie i would have given it more stars

Guinness beef stew- too much of a broth/purée for my preferences

Great views, easy ordering at bar and great food. Couldn't be easier after getting off the ferryread more

The best thing about the place is the view- gorgeous view of the water and lots of outdoor seating…read more I feel somewhat neutrally about this, but there aren't any waiters really. Instead, you wait in line and order at the bar and they bring it to your table number. If you're looking for a fancy dinner, this isn't the place, but if you're looking for an option in between cheap and nice, this is the place. My boyfriend got the mac n cheese which was $16 (perhaps a little pricey). He said it wasn't very cheesy but personally I like it like that! I ordered the salmon and asked for just farro and corn instead of the succatash and goat cheese and all that, but they didn't bring any farro. I then asked for it and the guy asked me if I ordered it. I said yes, I know I did, and he said he'd go check, but he never came back. After 10-15 minutes I went to find the guy I asked and he seemed confused. He said "I couldn't find her" and I didn't know what he meant, but apparently he was looking for the girl who took my order? I guess to validate that I hadn't asked them to remove the farro? Very odd. A nice employee at the bar told him to just get me some farro (because it's really not that big of a deal) and he brought me a cold small plastic cup of unseasoned farro (pictured). Whole thing struck me as very odd and a little annoying. The dish was $29 which also felt a little expensive, especially without a big portion, but it's definitely more affordable than other places on the island. Overall, great view, but the rest of our experience was meh!

What a true Irish pub! Loved the atmosphere and the friendly staff!…read more Brussel sprouts were unique and delicious! Sweet savory combo bacon, fig jam, apples and crispy sprouts. The flavors danced on your tongue. Wished we had a few more sprouts. The Cuban Ruben was also a delicious flavor combo. I expected the sandwich to be warm but it was cold. The house made corned beef was perfection (lean, no fat and super flavorful)(wished for a tad more) slaw, fresh homemade pickles all very fresh and delicious! Don't pass on the house made chips, salt & vinegar. These were a delight! We loved it there and will definitely be back. The place had a great crowd and clearly a favorite for many locals. Many local options but this one did not disappoint!

My friend and I were in the area but are not from CT. We saw their menu that they had a beef…read moreWellington and at the very end of the description it said "deconstructed" so I called to check with that meant. The hostess, who was on was very new, and I don't think she fully understood what I was asking. She ended up telling me that, Yes it was a normal beef Wellington. Cool, so excited, don't see those often. We get there, I order it because I already asked for clarification and didn't think I'd need to ask a second time. As we were waiting for our food, I saw some dishes come out from the table across from us and the waitress said, "Here is your beef Wellington". I realized that it was a concept of beef Wellington, but not a traditional beef Wellington, which is what I'd been worried about. We hadn't seen our server in a while so I went over to the bar and let them know that I wanted to cancel my order because it just wasn't what I wanted and the price tag was $60. I've been willing to pay that if it was what I had my heart set on, but it wasn't. They said they would cancel it. In a little bit, someone then came over, not our waitress, to tell me that I will be charged half of the price of the beef Wellington because I canceled it and it was already made. And of course, I was not OK with that. I once again explained to them that I had called and asked if it was a traditional beef Wellington and was told that yes it was. They said that the hosts are not trained on the menu so they cannot answer questions on them. I then asked what is the point of having someone who is untrained on the menu answer your phones because sometimes people are going to ask questions before they choose to come to a restaurant. I refused to pay the $30, she stated she would have to call the manager back because the manager was not on premises that day and see what she could do. In the meantime, they brought out the beef Wellington that they made and tried to entice me to eat it and I of course said no thank you. Finally, they told me I didn't have to pay. I ordered the stew appetizer. It was very small but tasty, and I was pretty hungry at that point so I'm glad I ordered it. Not sure I'd try this place again, but maybe if I lived closer. Not having a manager on premises really made it tough, it was a massive waiting game to get an answer, and I've never heard of a place blame the customer for their knowledge gaps. I definitely will not be going out of my way to come here again.
