Nice Irish pub in the heart of Cazenovia. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the beer is cold and the food is good. McCarthy's is very nicely decorated, clean, and was a pleasure to visit. I was here Mid-afternoon, and there were not many patrons, but one could tell it would be a great place to hang out and tip a few back after work. I have driven past many a time and never stopped, I wish I had stopped sooner. I really enjoyed my time at McCarthy's and will definitely be going back with friends. read more

Once again, I asked for a simple chicken and cheese quesadilla. I received a quesadilla with a large amount of peppers and onions. This isn't the end of the world however I hate peppers and onions and asked for a simple chicken and cheese quesadilla, and I pay for it so expect it. When I tell you, the food here is amazinggggg, that's still an understatement. Their French onion soup is so good. Their Reuben is incredible. I even tried a sausage and pepper quesadilla and it might be the best thing I've ever eaten. I wasn't expecting much, because my fiance and I visited on a random Sunday afternoon. But when we walked in, we were greeted by the bartender, and live Irish folk music! What more can you want from an Irish pub? What a great addition to caz! read more

McCarthy's Pub has been a great addition to an already solid dining scene in Cazenovia. Having been a couple good bar/restaurants before this (Golden Pheasant for one), McCarthy's had to hit a certain bar for it to survive in Caz, and I foresee them being successful for quite some time. They are in a nice spot where they don't have to compete with the higher priced Brae Loch and Brewster and conveniently located right in the middle of the village. They opened up the restaurant quite a bit and it all feels more open now. Live music can be found here quite frequently and there isn't a bad spot to catch the music. They have a good selection of local craft beer (Critz, Empire, Good Nature, etc) as well as some classic Irish brews (Guinness, Harp, Magners). Food is solid and won't disappoint. The menu has grown and evolved since they first opened and I guess the only disappointment is that there aren't more authentic Irish dishes on the menu. You'll find mainly standard pub fare to go along with your grog. Service is friendly and quick and it's easy to get a drink. I highly recommend going on a night when they have some Irish music on the docket and tipping back a beer. It's a great spot to visit in Caz. read more

We come here regularly during the colder months, and have ordered to-go several times. The food is consistently excellent pub fare, and very reasonably priced. The chicken sandwich and chicken tenders lead the pack by a wide margin in the Caz+FM area, and the Reuben is a delicious low-brow rendition. The beer situation is a good mix of macro American and Irish brands and a few local craft options. Unlike most other local establishments -- breweries included -- the beer tastes as though they clean their tap lines consistently. To be clear: the local craft options taste better on McCarthy's taps than at the brewery taproom. Hmm... If only there were a patio! read more

Atmosphere is great! Feels and looks like an American version of an Irish Pub. OK selection of beers, its diverse with all the favs you would want. I only gave this place 2 stars because of the food. There is nothing "traditional" and "Irish" about their food. We ordered Fish N'Chippers, Au Jus Beef and chicken tenders. My Fish was dry, like it was frozen then reheated and the tarter sauce had no flavor. The fries are standard frozen restaurant fries. My husband did seem to like his Beef Au Jus. Chicken tenders are standard frozen tenders. Coleslaw had zero flavor. I wanted to love their food because the atmosphere is so great. If you simply want an Irish Pub for the beer and atmosphere this place is for you! If you want great pub food, its mediocre. Kitty Hoynes in syracuse has it all. This place is like a McDonalds of Irish Pubs. It looks and feels right, but the food is a real let down. read more

This is now the second time I've come in and the bartender said there already closed but yet it says online there still open for another half hour like either change your closing time or get a new bartender whose willing to work until your supposed to close oh and there was still people drinking at the bar so how hard is it to serve me one drink? Walked in and stood in the front area for a moment before the bartender annoyingly told us to sit wherever, as if we were supposed to know that ourselves. The options for seating were kind of a joke; nothing but wooden stools with no backs at tiny tables, as if they were built for children. I don't know about you but I can't eat a meal on a stool. We spotted one of a few tables that had a backed chair on one side and a bench seat on the other. But upon sitting, we realized the bench seat was so low that my poor husband's knees were nearly up to his chin! We waited 5 minutes with no one even acknowledging us. After 5 minutes, the waitress said she would be right with us but for another 5 minutes continued to walk past us. After waiting at an uncomfortable restaurant for 10 long minutes, with waitstaff that couldn't care less if we were there or not, we got up and walked out. Will never go back. read more

Never have I experienced such rude customer service in my life. Especially considering that it was from the owner of the bar. Right off the bat the owner was extremely rude making assumption that my friends and I were underage, as well as being very vague when discussing the bar menu. He left and didn't come back to get our drink order. We decided to go up to the bar to get our drinks and the bartender wasn't accepting of an out of state ID. We took the ID back sitting down knowing we could speak with the owner directly about it when he returned. When he returned my friend showed him her out of state ID and he accepted it. When I showed him my in state ID he was indicating that it was a fake ID.... that the photo was not of me. I showed him another form of ID but he was still insisting the ID did not look like me. I started to communicate with the owner that it is me and he went off about our rude behavior was towards him. He specifically told my friend to stop the attitude. Never have I been spoken to this way by a waiter or waitress especially not the owner. After that I insisted that I pay for the food and take it to go. He said he'll just cancel the order and stormed away. I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

I went in with a couple of friends. It was slow so I was surprised that it took so long for us to be greeted. When we finally were, we found the server to be very personable and attentive. We were just going in for a snack so I ordered chicken fingers and my friends ordered a few others. They liked their appetizers but I was disappointed by my rubbery chicken. Also, it's hard to sit in the stools for too long, I would suggest getting a big table or sitting in a booth. Maybe I'll go back for the music. read more
