    Pies and dumplings

Super cute pit stop on US31 outside of Peru, Indiana. McClure's is not only an orchard with u-pick offerings but also a mini petting farm, hard cidery and winery. In the front store as you enter the property, you'll find full meal offerings, knock knacks and tastings of both the wine and cider. The first two cider samples are complimentary. We tried a few of the ciders and the honey infused lavender (in gin barrels) and Happy Holidays cider (clove, Orange, cinnamon- great served warm like wassail) stood out the most. Both were ideal as crowd pleasers- not overly sweet or dry. They had at least a dozen hard ciders to choose from and full bottles were for sale starting out at $6. They also offered growler fills. In both the front tasting shop and the apple barn, you'll find baked goods available like apple dumplings, apple pie and bourbon apple pies. They also have other treats like apple butter, apple salsa, apple butter syrup, honey and maple syrup. We purchased an apple dumpling and caramel sauce for $5. The farm is very kid-friendly with a petting barn (donkeys, potbelly hogs, Heritage geese, goats, etc) and a play ground between the two key shopping buildings. Highly recommend popping in!

Food truck, cider, wine tasting, orchard upick or pumpkin patch... you name it, they have it . This place has really expanded! I love just picking my own apples and did I mention the more than 150 varieties? Check out their corn maze new this year.

We stopped here after seeing the sign on US 31. It is a very cute place. There is a store, bar, barn animal viewing, and the orchards. The restrooms here were nice and clean. We stopped in to get a couple bottles of hard cider and leave quickly. It took a long time to get a person to tell us about the cider options and then to check out.

Over all the property is beautiful, I went with my husband and daughter and son in law. We had a nice time on a beautiful day and got great pictures. That being said, we ordered a bbq pork sandwich, a tortilla with a tablespoon of chicken salad lost inside, a snack sized walking taco, and 4 5$ hard cider drinks. No sides. The total with tip was 53.67. Unreal. Everything was so over priced it really soured an otherwise nice experience.

They pair local wine with a unique animal encounter, which made for such a fun afternoon. I tried a few different wines but loved the raspberry jalapeño the most. It embodied sweet and heat for the perfect flavor combination. The scenery there is quaint with rustic charm that creates a sweet rural oasis. Another aspect that enhanced my time there was that the staff had a plethora of knowledge to share about the yaks, which I found very interesting. I keep telling everyone about this place and can't wait to go back in the fall.

She gave us great directions on where to walk around the ranch so we could see some of the animals and the birdd. I chose to have a glass of the pawpaw wine which was very refreshing and we took our wines out and walked around the lavender fields and saw some of the yaks, but they were pretty far out. We also got to see the sheep and the pigs which were very friendly and adorable. We saw the nest for the purple martins and walked around the pond. They also had a food truck which my friend ordered a small charcuterie board from and we took inside to enjoy because it was pretty humid outside. There also some gifts along with yak yarn and alpaca yarn that you can purchase. This place was amazing to visit and I'm so excited that we got to check something out that was really not that far from us. A definite must do.

This is a nice winery with lots of different seating options outside on the property. I saw people sitting off by themselves at tables in the middle of a field, and people sitting on the patio of the main building. There are also a few places to sit inside, but mostly bar-height seating. I wanted to do a wine tasting, which I believe you can only do inside at the bar. You can pick five different tastes of wine. I asked for a couple of the driest reds, but then also threw in a Traminette and Riesling, which are semi-dry. I really liked the semi-dry wines, which I never go for in real life, but I'm glad I tried. The dry wines (there were only two options) were still a little too sweet for me, but that's Indiana wine for you. If you lean toward sweet wines, you will like the majority of the wines at Wildcat Creek Winery. This is not really a place to eat and enjoy wine, although you can find some packaged hunks of cheese and whole summer sausages in the fridge. It's more like a place to enjoy a nice glass or bottle of wine, and then grab some charcuterie fixin's on the way out, if you want to.
