Known originally to me growing up for their frozen custard but recently discovered how amazing their food is!!! Absolutely great cheeseburgers and fries. I mean seriously good and probably best in area. Sadly closed through the winter. Makes it that much better in the spring for the anticipation. Oh. And their custard changes daily. They have a red Indian flavor which is cinnamon enhanced. It was too light of cinnamon flavoring. I settled for lemon which was not very lemony. Very nice location with picnic tables. Nostalgic little drive-in, ice cream shop that's been around since the 50's. Original owners were CHARlie and BETTy Streu, hence the name of the place Char-Bett. The food is great drive-in food such as burgers, hot dogs, tenderloins, fries, etc. The ice cream is still so delicious. I still love the orange pineapple. I've had much bigger, better and more satisfying flavor in breaded tenderloins elsewhere. The ice cream treats seem to be the mainstay of their business and those are very good. They offer an ice cream flavor called Red Indian. It's a cinnamon flavor and it is awesome; creamy and delicious - hand dipped. Seasonal but busy at lunch on a Beautiful sunny Tuesday in July. Go to the window and the fast food comes out to the pick nick benches. Friendly young ladies politely serve. Burger and fries seem HQ and something like those flipped from the Founder movie in the 50's. Great Value for 6bucks. Cheeseburger Fries and Large lemonade. Stop. Worth it. I go by this little drive-in every 2 weeks taking my sons home to Mishawaka. It must go back to early 60's or possibly 50's with a great road sign. We typically stop for the hard ice cream like the red indian, et. al. no soft serve here. But now and then my son will get a BLT. Well this past weekend we all had sandwiches and it was all delicious. I had a deluxe double cheeseburger and it was excellent! It was real hamburger and cooked just like a homemade hamburger by your mom! I was so impressed that I had to try the grilled tenderloin which was also excellent and one of the best I've had. If you traverse Indiana vertically every other week, like I do, or even horizontally, I recommend this stop. It beats the hell out of stopping for chain fast food in Logansport or continuing to Rochester. Greg read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. Great ice cream. There they will mix up practically anything for you. I asked if I could have Red Indian ice cream in my chocolate soda. Never disappointed here. Everything is amazing. Ice cream and food alike. I grew up going to this place because we lived so close, and it has become a favorite in my adulthood too. The slushies with ice cream are a perfect blend of drink and snack. I love the potato wedges with sour cream, that is some tasty stuff right there! I must have ate here a million times as a kid. Family friends are the owners and I was impressed with the low cost fried fish sammich and fries and I enjoyed the coleslaw. I also had a chocolate malt made with frozen custard and it was so thick and delicious. YUM! And a cute place to stop right when you get into town. Closed for the winter!
