    October 31, 2024 - Lucky, lucky, drew a 40% discount!
    Michele O.

October 31, 2024 We participated in Elk Grove's Hallo-Wine Trail. After registering, we were instructed to pick up our speciality event 4-bottle bag at McConnell Estates Winery, and then visit local wineries between October 31 and November 3 for special discounts and promotions. McConnell Estates pulled out all the stops for this event, for sure. The venue was well decorated for Halloween. Loved their spirit and enthusiasm! They had a candy discount roulette game, where you chose a piece of candy out of a bowl. Your discount amount (between 5% and 50%) was written on the back of the candy. HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I lucked out and pulled a 40% discount. With that discount, we couldn't resist buying wine, so we decided to taste first. They had two tastings available. The Classic ($10) and the Reserve ($15), waived with the purchase of one bottle. We enjoyed all the wines, and chose the bottles we wanted to buy. The Tempranillo was a favorite. Then, as part of the festivities, we were given a free glass of their Sangria. I am not normally a Sangria fan, but their Sangrias were delicious. They had four flavors available: POISONED APPLE Chardonnay, apple, caramel & cinnamon PUMPKIN SPICE Tempranillo, pumpkin spice & cinnamon BLOODY SANGRIA Merlot, blood orange & tart cherry APPLE CIDER SANGRIA Chardonnay, ginger & spiced cider I chose the Pumpkin Spice Sangria, and my husband chose the Blood Sangria. We enjoyed both sangrias, but the Blood Sangria was so good we decided to buy a bottle to take home. McConnell Estates has a great venue, some pretty fine wine, and friendly staff. We'll be back.

Amazing service and incredible estate grown wines! The knowledgeable staff did a fantastic job walking me through the tasting, explaining each wine's profile and highlighting the notes that stood out most. The lineup included a great variety of complex, smooth and full-bodied reds along with light, vibrant, and citrusy whites. I especially loved how they showcased their family pride in their red blends, particularly the stellar Winemaker's Blend. It's such a versatile wine, and I can't wait to serve it at dinner parties or give it as a gift!

I LOVE this winery and have been a member for about 3 years. They have so many great family-friendly events, with a good amount of adult-only events as well. We especially love the Haunted Hayrides events. During some Christmas you get to meet Santa and during Easter you meet the Easter bunny and get sent professional photos. Dog friendly for almost every event. The wine tastes amazing and is reasonably priced. The tastings offer fair pours and good variety. They have a BEAUTIFUL lawn area that has plenty of space to picnic on a blanket or at their tables and benches. It's very beginner friendly here and not snobby at all. The customer service is great, and we especially love Art. He has remembered my name since my first visit and always strikes up great conversation.

Love this place. Although we are not members, we visit a few time of year. Most recently, we tried the fireside tasting on a Sunday afternoon in January. We learned even more about this history of McConnell and found some new favorite wines. Sitting by the fire was a great way to experience the place. Staff are always helpful and accommodating.

What a beautiful winery and nice location. The wines were outstanding and the service was outstanding. We recently went to listen to a band on a Friday night and the weather was spectacular. They had a food truck and again the service and attention to detail was outstanding. The wines were so delicious and I had the rosé all I can say is WOW it was so wonderful and refreshing. The grounds are so lush.. I would highly recommend this 5 star winery on a Friday night and listen to live music or anytime. I can't wait to go back.

Love love love this place! They always have great events, which make fun for a super fun wine tasting experience. Everyone is super helpful and there's never a long wait. Everything is poured super fast, the staff is attentive. It's a great place for wine tasting with friends. They have a beautiful antique indoor sitting area and soooo much shade for outdoor sitting. A great place to have a little picnic and drink wine.

Glad we made reservations for Saturday at 3:30pm. It was packed and there was live music. We didn't see any children so assume it's an adults only winery. They had $10 classic tasting, $15 reserve tasting, and $30 cheese and wine tasting. We tried everything. The only wine that was good was the zin. It was semi sweet and had bold fruit flavor: all the other wines were either tannic or lacking flavor. My friend said the cheeses were better than the wines lol. I got to try some cheeses. They only have the cheese and wine flight that weekend we went. It was worth the $30. Service was fast and slow. It was a busy day though. We got to try an extra cab but it wasn't good. Will have to continue finding a good winery in Elk Grove.

McConnell Winery, Elk Grove, CA - July 7, 2023 We attended a reservation only "Barn Night" event at this winery that included a live band (Hipster Cocktail Party), a food truck (West Coast Tacos), and wine (McConnell's). The venue is spacious, with some shaded outdoor seating and covered indoor seating in the barn. The stage is fairly small at ground level, but it's sufficient for musicians to do their craft. Our friends had made reservations in advance, and we met them in the parking lot before walking in. We decided to sit in the barn area so that we would have plenty of shade. The wine bar is indoors in the barn as well. Servers come to your table and take your drink orders. Menus were at our table so we were able to figure out what our choices were. We decided to order a bottle of Tempernillo and a bottle of Chardonnay. I was happy with both choices. West Coast taco does a fantastic job. We got 4 carne asada tacos and 4 Anaheim Pig carnitas tacos that we shared as a group - $36. We ordered another bottle of Cabernet Savignon and that was very tasty as well. This is a fun venue to come to, and I would do it again!

My friend and I decided to meet up at McConnell Estates Winery on Friday after a long work week. We made reservations, which currently are required, for wine tasting. When we arrived we were offered to sit outside on the back deck overlooking the gorgeous vineyard grounds. The deck area is spacious with several round tables. We sat at a table near the left corner of the deck rail that had a breathtaking view of the vineyard. The service at McConnell Estates is definitely top notch. A dedicated server brought us the wine menu from which we ordered our flights and a Charcuterie board with local cheeses from Stuyt Creamery Goudas and a variety of crackers. I ordered the Classic Tasting flight, which started with a light crisp Vermentino and ended with a robust jammy Zinfandel. I ordered several bottles to take home as I found the Barbera interestingly complex and delicious as it is made like a rose and thus can be paired with a range of foods from salads to BBQ. McConnell Estates Winery is located on W. Stockton Boulevard right along the 99 fwy on the SE end of Elk Grove. You know... the one that many of y'all see on your way home from work. Just do it. Exit the freeway and give McConnell a try. You won't be disappointed.

There's a huge outdoor patio/yard with horseshoes and bag toss, plus live music Friday 5-8pm and Saturday/Sunday 2-5pm. Inside has AC and country music. They also have trivia night Thursdays at 6:30pm. Service was warm, friendly, and efficient. The food portions are generous and the ingredients taste fresh. We enjoyed the Margarita Pizza, Caprese, and the Charcuterie Platter, which comes loaded with cheeses, gourmet meats, fruit, grapes, crackers, nuts, olives, and sweet bites. For wine, the 2026 Zinfandel is their most popular red: sweet with a chocolatey finish. The 2025 Vermentino is their most popular white: light and fruity. Their wine slushies, made with a red/white mix, are fun too. They also have a 3-, 6-, or 12-bottle wine club, with complimentary tastings for four people four times a year. Event bookings with catering are available too. Great spot to hang out with friends, especially on a weekend afternoon when the live band is playing!

We didn't know what to expect, but we were quickly greeted as soon we walked in and taken to the patio. I made reservations but we arrived a bit early and they accommodated us. We did come to try the wine but we were starving as we took advantage of the fact that they have a restaurant there and ordered the burger and the pastrami sandwich. I think I've said it before but I will never ever NOT get the burger if I see it on the menu. For our wine, the better half got the chocolate pairing flight and i got a flight that consisted of the pomegranate sparkling wine which was so refreshing in that heat, the chard, and their Petite Syrah. Her pairing came with a flight of 5 and 5 chocolates (fudge) and we've never done a chocolate pairing before so this was a fun and palate opening experience. All were delicious, if I weren't so far I'd totally join their wine club. There was a live musician which gave the whole place a cool vibe. The only thing that wasn't cool was that weather but thank goodness we were seated under a fan and a covering that had misters!!! What a great touch. The grounds were well manicured but we didn't walk around much due to the heat. And the price is so reasonable, my flight was only $10 and hers was $18. The food was in the $25 or so ballpark. On to my thoughts of the Cellar.. just know my experience may not be the same as yours, this was a wine tasting / food pairing event... That being said, the Wines here are excellent . For most of our little adventure stayed in the back, had a few food booths all very good food, I loved the barn and the atmosphere around, it felt rustic with a splash of greenery since its every where, just beautiful, everything was just prefect.. And I forgot the staff, super friendly, very knowledgeable with there history of the Cellar, and the wines themselves. The Wine tastings were special, each one.. they paired with with a thin Artisan Pizza, or a popcorn, flavored of course, the pizza samples were amazing, and then bought a small pizza, very yummy. .. The wine bottles them selves are Elegant in any light, I loved the wines we got to taste, and well , Ok, so we might have skipped taste 4 and 6 and jumped in line at the WineBar, for a glass of one of the whites we enjoyed earlier in the evening.. I recommend Christopher Cellars to anyone in the area, or out of the area, looking for a nice weekend getaway, Elk grove is starting to look really good...
