The Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg is a historic beet sugar refinery from 1934-1993 that has wine shops and tasting rooms for local wineries. They have over a dozen wineries. Wine tastings average $15 and most wineries waive the fee if you buy a bottle. They have wine shops in the main building and in the other building. Don't forget to walk back and to the right to the shops in the separate back building, there is 3-4 more wineries. Each winery are literal walled shops with their own seating areas. Temperature controlled which is nice on hot summer days. Each have their own wine tasting, food offerings, and special events. Old Sugar Mill is less than 15 minute drive from downtown Sacramento. The buildings are beautiful. They kept the historic brick walls and exterior. It has a modern shabby chic look. Three different brands owned the refinery. It all began in 1934 with Amalgamated, American Crystal Sugar Factory (1936-1982), and Delta Sugar (1983-1993). The sugar was refined by local Northern Californian grown beets. The buildings was renovated in 2000 for its current use. Awesome concept and beautiful architecture design. They also host weddings and events. They have a banquet room with slideshow equipment. There is also an outdoor lawn and adjoining paved patio area that is shaded in the afternoon by the buildings that would make for a gorgeous wedding venue. On hot summer days, the Delta breeze kicks in for instant cool down. No outside food are picnics are allowed. On the weekends, they have food trucks. Plus the majority of the wineries sell food (appetizers) as well. Also no pets are allowed (excluding service animals). The restrooms are located right by the front entrance.

Inside they have a whole room with seating and nice decor. The tables are draped in white table cloths and there are stacks of wine barrels as the back drop. They have a palm court in the back and it's so quaint and beautiful. Perfect for sipping some wine slowly and chit chatting with friends. They were very accommodating and helpful throughout the process... even when we had issues with our current wedding planner, Tracy stepped into support. My only regret is that we didn't hire them for the full coordination package. I really wish we would've paid the extra to have them do the set up for the wedding and coordinate everything because I know it would've went seamlessly! We live and learn! I am cutting to the chase, the winery grounds and views are impressive. As I was driving to get here, the rural countryside did not seem particularly scenic with its flat valley landscape. But as I drove up into the winery grounds, I noticed the elevation. Who knew there are rolling hills in the area?!? I did not. Since the winery is on an elevated ground, it has spectacular panoramic views of the valley with the neighboring vineyards and grazing fields. If the views are this gorgeous currently in our mild winter, I can imagine how it would look in the Fall and Spring. The winery grounds include two large Spanish styled outdoor courtyards. Even though the parking lot is gravel packed, the grounds have paved walkways. There are two restroom buildings near each courtyard. The tasting room staff member and the grounds member that I spoke to were friendly and hospitable. They showed an enthusiasm for the winery. If you are looking for an outdoor space for large (crafts fair) or not so large (weddings, parties) events...check them out.

It was the middle of a Saturday afternoon and we were able to be sat immediately. They had recently partnered with Country Roads and offered a tasting off of that menu which I consult resist since I taste Clarksburg Wine Co all the time. I was so excited and the wines lived up to my expectation. The list offered 8 wines of which I was able to pick 5 for $15. The tasting is waived if you purchase a bottle to which I bought two. We had a wonderful time enjoying the chill atmosphere and tasty wines. Very impressive as always and I can't wait to go back.
