When I went, it was about a month before Halloween and they had it decorated for Halloween and the fall holidays in general, which was very fun to see. I had asked about a changing table since I have a small child and sadly they do not have a changing table, not their idea as they wanted a changing table when they remodeled the changing rooms but the city said no. (city of Bellflower if you see this, give them a changing table. In both men and women's! It is very much a necessity!!!) So even though it was possible for me to change my young child on the countertop they had I also felt very unsafe changing my wiggly child there because I was unable to strap him down. I could have changed him in a stall but no mother will want to change their child's diaper on the floor unless they know it was recently cleaned which I am sure no place has time to do constantly. (AGAIN BELLFLOWER A NECESSITY!) Outside that my son had a great time playing in the water. It was his first time in a pool and it was great. I would say I wish the water was heated for him but it isn't terrible for adults. Looking forward to going back again to play in the water.

Only problem is... it's definitely not free to get in.

When I arrived, there were already people lined up along the edge, quietly focused on searching for a glowing line that moved like a worm. Parents had brought their children, making it an all ages event. The sight was captivating as the fireworms swarmed near the surface of the water for a few seconds before diving back in. It is said that these creatures rise from the seabed during specific moon phases to spawn at the surface, creating an unforgettable display.

We just walk from Appian Way up the lagoon crossway, north on the path until we hit 6th St., then turn around. From there, one could take a left on 6th St., then a right on Federation Drive to extend the walk, but it's still not a loop. Regardless, it is a nice area and the view of the water along the path is a peaceful sight. The sandy beach of the lagoon has always been populated with lively children and teens in the water when we've gone, so that spot in particular is not so peaceful. Also, if you're taking your dog, we've seen a man twice with three huge, off-leash dogs on the corner of 6th St. and Monrovia Ave that take over that whole grassy area, so beware of that. Otherwise, there's sometimes a group doing yoga there.

It's really sad, I live in Long Beach and can't swim laps there because the music caters to Hispanics only. If you had a meeting in their conference room with all the other swimmers, you'd be surprised that I am not alone in this matter. There are a lot of White Americans, African Americans, and only a few Latino swimmers who swim from 6:00 - 7:00 a.m. This review is long overdue. I still have a lot of money on my Long Beach pool card, yet I prefer going to the YMCA at Lakewood.

My son struggled tremendously with even getting in the water but session after session the swim instructor (Rebecca) was patient, understanding, and kind to him. My greatest appreciation is her continual effort to make him feel comfortable even when he cried and refused to practice. His comfort level has improved so much thanks to Rebecca. She allows him to feel safe in this environment. A HUGE shoutout to Rebecca for her level of professionalism and kindness to our swimmer. She's amazing, talented, and a gifted instructor.
