First, service has been great lately. Ok, now for my opinion on some of the new foods. I didn't care for the new Archburger-it's just kind of a "blah" taste. Not like the BigMac, which has a distinct flavor. Now, for the new drinks-I've had the strawberry(with freeze dried strawberries) and today got the mango pineapple with popping bobas. Just average. And I was really thirsty. Not many of the bobas in my large drink. Both drinks are ok, just not something I'd order again, unless they were the only available drinks on the menu. I will likely get the other 4 eventually, just to see if any of them is any better. I used the drive through and mobile app. The place was clean and staff friendly. Lot parking. Typical McDonalds prices. Ok, I just went and got the orange dream fresher and it DOES taste like an orangesicle. Good stuff, no caffeine in this one. The "dirty" Dr. Pepper is definitely worth getting. My only complaint is they put ice in my drink when I asked for no ice. They were very busy today(5/9) I'm not crazy about raspberries, but the blue raspberry sprite was ok. I've only got one left to review. The thing I did notice about the blue raspberry Sprite is it's really fizzy and I don't deal with that well. But if Sprite is something you like, you'll probably really like the blue raspberry Sprite fresher. Last edit 5-10-2026 I got the 6th drink-a berry passionfruit concoction. It's ok. Service took very very long for one singular sandwich, and 7 people food that came in after me.

Would give 0 stars if I could could. First and foremost, there have been multiple times I've visited this location and found HAIR in my food. Second off, the staff are rude, immature and unsanitary. They have never gotten my order right, and have forgotten things multiple times Ive visited. There was one time I visited, was ignored and when I verbalized that I wasn't receiving service, I got yelled at and was asked to leave. This really sucks, because I live in west Ames, but I will NEVER again be coming back here for ANY reason. I will make the drive to the other McDonald's across town. Definitely worth the mileage and gas. read more

I'm always surprised at how kind everyone is at this McDonalds. They have a very fast paced, hectic job and yet they are still very friendly. They went out of their way to help my kids find the Happy Meal toys they were missing. Made their day!! Thank You!! read more

So I just moved back to Iowa in June of this year, from the West Coast. I like my fast food. I have been to this establishment 3 times. In all my years I have never had this experience before. Normally Mcdonalds has been on there game as for putting out good food for a great price. But this establishment has shown me there is no more such thing as good food or customer service. All three times I have been extremely disappointed. All three times the food was cold, the buns were old and hard. And they just slap everything together with no attention to how the food is presented to us the customers. I opened my quarter pounder and it looked as if it was a smash burger. It was over cooked and very little else on it. Supposed to have ketchup and mustard and onions and pickles. I might of had a drop of ketchup and little onion. So I dont know how this place stays running. Management needs to be reviewed. I will not be a customer at this establishment again. When I was in Ames a few weeks ago, 7I stopped at the McDonald's for breakfast in between a 7:30 AM haircut at Troy's and picking up my Dad at 9 AM. I usually avoid fast food, with 2 exceptions: In-In-Out and the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit (with OJ or coffee) at McDonald's. After recently flunking self-serve screen ordering at the Minden NV, I tried again here, with the same results. The person at the counter was watching and had been to this rodeo too many times. In other words, the system is not intuitive and most folks quickly go back to manual ordering. After my order came quickly came out, I grabbed a seat by the window and enjoyed my breakfast. The service was average and the food was what I expected. That's certainly enough consistency to keep coming back. read more

Came through at 7:15 to get fries for my step daughter, boyfriend and myself because I'm 29 weeks pregnant and had been craving fries all day just to get them without salt and when I called the store to complain THEY HUNG UP ON ME!!!! When I tried calling again my call wouldn't go through like they disconnected the phone. I was expecting traditional Irish food like: a stew with ingredients like potatoes, onions, carrots, diced lamb chops and Canadian bacon. Come to find out this McDonalds does not serve an Irish menu. I don't know why this McDonald's is so awful and wildly inconsistent. Half the time the fries have NO salt. Half the time they forget the sauces with the nuggets. went to get breakfast this mornin, had an order of 2 bacon egg and cheese McGriddles and one sausage McGriddle. we got 3 bacon McGriddles and when we went back and opened the sandwiches in front of the guy he straight up told us that it was sausage. there's was clearly bacon in it. the guy took one of the sandwiches back from us to switch it with sausage, when he gave it back I opened it and it was another bacon sandwic. at this point the guy was being really rude and I didnt want to deal with it so we just left. read more

Y'all really done messed up. I've been here 3 different times and every damn time y'all expect me to eat chicken nuggets dry af. What monster eats chicken nuggets without sauce?! How hard is it to put the damn sauce in the bag. It defeats the purpose of drive THROUGH when I have to park my car and walk in and ask for my damn sauce. On top of that, one of the times I came the damn chicken nuggets were burnt and shriveled. The "chicken" inside was so dry it wasn't even connected to the outer layer. It was just shriveled. Wow these burgers cost the same as any other burger joint in town but their meat are so thinly sliced that it's more bread than anything. Everything taste artificial such as the pickles, chicken nuggets and even the bread taste like cardboard. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Horrible staff. I noticed that both ketchup dispensers were empty. I mentioned to the lady who just happened to be taking her break. She mentioned it to the manager the manager told her to fill since she was on the clock. She popped off to him and sat down and ate her lunch. The manager did bring some ketchup packets and said he would fill the ketchup. He didnt he just grabbed some food and sat down and started eating. Another worker walked in. Manager says you are late. The employee just flips his boss off. They finally filled them both when we were leaving. I'll never go back to that place again. read more

They were out of large cups, large lids, and didn't fill them up as well. The soda area was completely covered in garbage, wrappers, and puddles of soda that had been spilled. Worse service ever. My mom and I ordered two meals, $6 combo meal and #5, the order taker kept trying to sell us chicken nuggets, #5, and a $6 meal. When my mother politely told her that the order was wrong and their was only two people ordering so we need only two meals not three. The order taker kept asking us what sauces we wanted with the chicken nuggets when we didn't order any chicken nuggets at all, and she kept laughing. Obviously your order wasn't listening at all. The next day when I called and spoke to the manager on duty that day, he had promised that I was going to get "Free Meal coupons", mind this was last week I was supposed to get it in the mail he said he'd mail out to me. Still have not received those "Free Meal Coupons" as promised. I am disappointed how your order taker was acting very unprofessional and very rude. Worst experience I've ever had at any fast food restaurant! I got to the first window where you pay and they had my order wrong. I had to pull to a spot to wait. I waited for 5 minutes and they hadn't brought my food to me. Keep in mind that I'm trying to get to work at 8 in the morning and this is making me late. I go inside and my food is in a bag on the counter. Really!? I go through the drive through so I can walk inside to get my food. I ask for the manager. She placed the blame on me and said I had changed my order. Wrong! The girl took my order wrong. I asked for some kind of compensation considering how long I had waited plus had to come inside to get my food and now am 10 minutes late for work. The manager walked away towards the back, for what reason I have no idea. I waited for a couple of minutes and decided it just wasn't worth the hassle and walked. I will never go there again.
