Sparkling McDonald's in McKownville, dining room clean
    Christian L.

Some quip posted fake photos. Ignore those! This McDonald's is simply pristine. The dining room is fastidiously and cleanly taken care of. All the trash bins were, clean. The staff go out of their way to make customers happy. One member wipes down tables. The McD manager came and inspected the dining room. The counter girls were very courteous and polite. My burger was made well, hot and wrapped neatly. The coffee I ordered was strong and flavorful. Way to go McDonald's near the Mall! Five star McDonald's! Review: 5

    Quarter Pounder with Cheese

This McDonalds on Western Ave between Crossgates Mall and Stuyvesant Plaza had been torn down to the ground and built back up. I went through the drive thru on Friday April 8 at 1:00 pm. I ordered a large Quarter Pounder meal and a Filet-O-Fish. I also asked for a McFlurry. They said "the machine is out of order ". One o'clock is lunch time. A Manager should be on top of that. When I got home the meal was a small instead of a large. When I big into the Quarter pounder it tasted funny. Second bite I happen to look at the burger and it was raw! Their burgers are frozen before cooked on aluminum. A plethora of bacteria. I've been sick all day. Never again!

    Mc Cafe

So, besides an interior play space and wifi access, this suburban location also has a McCafe. McCafe? You ask. Well, they have a machine that cranks out cappuccinos, lattes, mochas, and the like. Surprised? Disgusted? Amazed? Well, my expectations were low. Very very very low. And maybe that helped. Because the cappuccino was a bit better than I expected, in that it more resembled a cappuccino than a latte. Now let me tell you, this is already better than a lot of the hack jobs at real espresso bars. Actually, maybe you don't get me started. Look. I'm not going to seek this out. But if I find myself in a McDonald's with a McCafe. And I am with people who are ordering something that resembles food, to eat. Instead of just sitting there, twiddling my thumbs, I may very well order one of those cappuccinos again.

What a horrible place. The drive thru staff was rude and disrespectful. It's a shame McDonalds hires people like that.

McDonald's sent me some coupons in the mail, but this location would not accept them. No explanation why nor were they very apologetic.

When you order fries they provide an abundance of them. They come in a cup - which varies in size based on the portion size you order. However, regardless of what amount of fries the cup is supposed to hold they overload the cup with these tasty devils so you can count on receiving at least 1/3 - 1/2 portion more than you ordered. The cost of fries is relatively small to them so they have chosen to make a great impression on the customer by giving you so many. I love the taste of the fries and they cook them with skins still on - which I personally always enjoy. They have many, many bags of potatoes on display from their suppliers and as a nice touch they post the name of the farm that provided the potatoes. They provide free peanuts (in the shell) to munch on while waiting for your order which is also a nice customer oriented touch. The only reason I have rated 4 stars vs 5 is the amount of grease involved. The burgers are quite greasy and the fries are loaded with oil. They use peanut oil which is one of the healthier oils but they don't drain them well so even the bags they come in are loaded with oil. So, if you are looking for tasty food Five Guys won't disappoint. However avoid this place if you are in search of healthy meals. I would say going here now and then would be fun but I would not recommend a frequent visit- unless you want to make your cardiologist rich. :)

I was in line when the customer ordered lettuce and the cashier asked if he was joking? He even asked why? The cashier laughed and he changed his order. I was next and asked for extra lettuce than stated, "what you said was inappropriate ". The cashier then stated, ""I can't " and walked away. The next person "don't recall her name" berating me and made me feel really uncomfortable. This is not what I'm use to at Five Guys! They all need retraining to Five Guys customer service protocols! Highly embarrassed!

So, the "open" sign is finally turned on, and my mom and I come up. I ordered first, but then my mom tried to order cajun rice, and the employee said they didn't have it. What? This is Popeyes right? This is what I'd been waiting for to try my first Popeyes chicken sandwich that everyone has raved about. Since I couldn't decide whether to try the Classic or the Spicy, I ordered both ($3.99 each). I had just finished over 2 miles of mall walking, it was 5 o'clock, dinner time, so I figured I could handle two sandwiches. I was definitely stuffed when I was done. I watched the chicken sandwich Meister at his own station building each sandwich. The rolls are separated in half and toasted, then each half is spread with either their regular mayonnaise or spicy mayonnaise depending on whether the order is Classic or Spicy. A couple of pickle slices are placed on the roll's bottom half, the fried chicken portion is then added and topped with the other roll half. The sandwiches are then individually packed into insulated bags. It's interesting that by the time I finished eating the first sandwich, which was nice and hot when removed from its insulated bag, at one of the food court tables, the second had cooled considerably. It was only slightly warm, its coating still very crispy, but slightly less moist than the first sandwich. Because of this, it seemed like the portion of the breast meat was too thick. Yet, I didn't notice this phenomenon while eating the first sandwich even though that breast piece was of similar size and thickness. The level of spiciness in the Spicy sandwich was acceptable, but it didn't seem to add any additional flavor like jalapeños do. I'm obviously not a fried chicken sandwich aficionado. It was tasty and a good value, but I don't see myself rushing to have another anytime soon. I'm thinking, however, that a fried chicken thigh sandwich could be very interesting!
