Just before entering Charleston, West Virginia to check into our reserved motel room, Diane and I were famished, and I realized that the night was closing in on us, and we were running out of available food options for dinner. So, it was time to improvise and eat wherever we could on the fly. I pulled off the highway where I saw a lit McDonald's sign, and pulled into the drive-thru. After ordering, paying for, and receiving a Quarter Pounder with Cheese and two large French Fries at 11:55 p.m., I headed for a parking spot in the vast parking lot, and turned off the ignition. We then prepared to eat in our laps when at midnight exactly all outside lights switched off at the restaurant--including the Golden Arches, as the car after ours received its occupants' order and drove out of the drive-thru lane. I went to here to get a McFlurry and I ordered the regular one, not the mini. The McFlurry I got wasn't even halfway full. I even double checked and asked the lady at the window and she confirmed that I ordered a regular size McFlurry. It was maybe 4 bites worth of ice cream. Been to this McDonald's many times and here recently they've been horrible. I've sat at the window for over 10 minutes saying "is anyone there?" And usually never get an answer so I just eventually leave, I've done this 4 or 5 times so far, and there's been a couple times where I place a mobile order for drive thru and I sit at the drive thru and they just never answer me, thankfully they have a fast refund process. Usually I only have this problem if I go after 9pm so I'd advise just to not go after that time. read more

This place sucks plain and simple. I mobile order from my work then walk 10 mins down to the restaurant, and 4/5 days out of the week. My food is still not done and I have to tell them to start making my mobile order. The dining room staff here are some of the most uncaring individuals I've seen. Headphones in, not listening to anything customers say. Actively laughing and avoiding customers who come up to the counter. Elderly customers are outright ignored. The bathrooms are gross and have old dirty food and drug paraphernalia strewn about. The only silver lining this place has is the drive thru staff in the morning. Ladies are almost always very nice, wish me a good morning and a good day, quick and responsive, etc. This place needs corporate to step in and whip them into shape. OKAY, what part of extra pickles on the side don't you understand!! I ordered 2 plain cheeseburgers with extra pickle last week and I got 3 pickles on each burger. On December 10th we got there at 11:30 pm, and there was a car ahead of us in the drive-thru. We waited 10 minutes and the car ahead of us didn't move. I got out and asked the driver if there was a problem. She said they hadn't taken her order yet. In a few minutes she drove off and we took her place at the ordering station. We said "hello" to the order box and the McDonald's lady said, "I am by myself and have to take the orders and prepare the food." We waited 5 more minutes and then we left after being there for 20 minutes. We went to Cookout and were served immediately. I understand you need to interview employees, but when you have three customers at the register, waiting to be waited on by the ONE person working, and she, while sweet, is the slowed person there (this visit, watched her try to put a tea bag in a cup, and it literally took her FOUR attempts because her hands shake), apologized to us three times, realizing she wasn't able to wait on us timely. I had been there for 5 minutes, and the guy in front of me looking at his watch said he had been standing there for 10 minutes. All while the lady in front of us said the lady working at the register had to go in the back to make food. There appeared to be three cooks, and one guy apparently occupied with stocking pies. The two people at the drive thru waiting on ONE car appeared to be not even remotely interested in checking on the lady working the counter, and all this while one manager sat 10 feet from me apparently interviewing someone, while another worker or shift manager sat next to her, on break, and another employee waited with us, apparently on break too. They had more employees on break than they had working it seems. One would assume it's only common sense for a manager interviewing an employee in the dining area would at least keep an eye on the front of the house to make sure customers weren't being ignored. It appears many of these locations, probably another Ebert location, really don't care about individual customers that much. I didn't even see the woman running the register for 3-4 minutes after I got there, until I asked another customer and that lady said she was in the back making food. Then she came back up from a bit later carrying three large fries. Then to top it all off, when I did get to order after complaining about being there 10 minutes without the slightest hint I was going to get timely waited on, they prepared my food quickly, but failed to give me a receipt. So I can't really get online and complain to McDonald's about it either. I'm not really sure they are slick and smart enough to do that intentionally, try to silence critics. I think it was likely just another failure in today's comedy of errors at this location. It really is a shame that McDonald's sold out all of it's corporate WV stores to owners who don't care about the customers, nor appear willing to keep up with their franchise agreements to provide consistent quality of food and service. I'm not sure if this was one of the stores recently sold by the company, or just another long term franchise that's poorly run, but at some point corporate should step in and take the reins of these folks, because this company is going down the toilet in my opinion. And dude, they don't need to make sure there are 20 pies on the front line, they need to make sure the three customers trying to get food can get their orders made and fulfilled!!! It's painful and annoying to see the line of cars out of the parking lot every morning on the way to work. I just drive around it when I can, I would never participate in that nonsense. I wait to walk over later, as I did today, or make my own oatmeal at work. In addition to it being a safety problem on the street, it means people are giving this location business, so the owners really won't care about the problems there, because they're making money anyway. The service & employees are terrible, & the managers are worser. Please check your order before you leave, most of the time its wrong. This McDonald's has provided me with the worst dining experience I have ever had with this franchise. I came in with a party of 8, all to be charged on one ticket. As the first person in our party explained that we would be on one ticket, the cashier threw a visible fit. So our first customer service experience was negative. She ended up missing one persons order in our party altogether. Received orders of iced coffee were unsatisfactory as well. The restaurant itself was unsanitary and had flies everywhere. There were crumbs all over the counters behind the cashiers and the presentation of meals took no care at all. Lastly, I ordered a dipped cone and it was hardly a cone when I received it. My friend took it up to the counter to get a better one and it was even worse than before. The manager was terrible and was visibly overwhelmed due to being understaffed. This adds to a negative dining experience because everyone else was getting stressed. Don't go to this McDonald's unless you want to leave with a bad taste in your mouth...literally. read more

Drive-In service is getting slower. At one time I could expect to go thru the drive fairly quick. The longest time was spent paying for the food. Now It has progressively gotten worse. I have to wait a long time before I can pay and even longer after payment. I use the drive-in for convenience. I wont continue to use a slow service. read more
