Orders incorrect and employees have a poor attitude, especially one young woman who works the drive through. There was a mistake with our order and she didn't want to fix it. I also overheard her say something not so nice about me to another employee in Spanish-I guess she didn't realize I speak Spanish (I'm not Spanish but am fluent). I notice the same theme on all these ratings for the Dover Plains McDonalds with incorrect orders and attitude. My feeling is that there is a major language barrier (many of the employees have limited English skills-even at the drive through) creating at least the incorrect orders and I have to wonder about their hiring process around verifying people have the right to work in the US. To be clear, you need to speak English for the citizenship test. Not about bias but you need to speak English to understand an order. There is always at least one thing that's wrong. I had surgery today and me nor my mom felt like cooking so I suggested McDonalds. I asked for a Spicy Delux McChicken something that I usually get. My mom called me when she was there because I couldn't go. She came back and I told her this isn't the sandwich that either of us asked for. It was a regular McChicken, with lettuce mayo on it. Which i didn't order. My mom went back and instead of just remaking, the manager told her to just it put spicy sauce on it and gave it back. My wife and I go to this location to get food and the only thing they do right is take your order and get it 1000 percent wrong. My wife consistently asks for just egg and cheese on her English muffin and constantly gets meat. I've gotten burgers that were made wrong and weren't much thought into it. This McDonald's needs new staff and more training to take orders correctly and reinstall training for cooks to follow the orders. Highly disappointed and distasteful meals. read more

With McDonald's prices being sky-high lately, the only thing I ever go there for now is the $5 meal deal. This comes with either the McChicken or McDouble as the sandwich. Today at the Dover Plains McDonalds I ordered the deal with the McDouble, plus 1 extra small fries. The price was $8.64. I explained that I ordered the $5 deal, and they said it was "The McDouble Special". At this location if you order the $5 deal with a McDouble, they charge $6. I walked out because I dislike being played. McDonald's just cannot stop themselves from gouging their customers. I've never had a perfect order here. Somethings always wrong or missing. I even try the mobile orders so everything is written and it's still wrong! I was missing cheese on my order and they handed me a slice of cheese to put on myself instead of replacing the burger. Managers are nice tho. read more

This location consistently messes up an order every time I have stopped in. every single person in this location always has an attitude and seemingly does not care about their job or about providing appropriate customer service in the food industry. more than half the time their food is cold or soggy. this is the absolute worst and most unprofessional McDonald's location. highly recommend that they hire a brand new team and start completely from scratch because this place is the worst. I can't even count the number of times that they have gotten my order incorrect. There have been times that I ordered on the app, paid for it and then they have told me they don't have the item and offer me something at a cheaper price then I paid. This McDonald's is a hit or miss. Usually the food is always hot and fresh but their sodas are flat tasting sometimes and depending on who's working, the customer service can be really bad as well. They'd get four stars from me if it wasn't for the fact that when the customer service is bad, it's straight up awful. The other day I took my son here and got him a happy meal. That's all I ordered. The guy at the window tried giving me an apple juice when I ordered milk, and they completely forgot to put the fries into the happy meal. Needless to say my son was not happy when we got home. I expected him to check his happy meal before he got home but he wanted to wait or else I would have caught the fact that there were no fries before we left but anyway. I drove back up there and told them they forgot his fries. The guy had an attitude about it even though it was his fault. Maybe he should be angry at himself at how bad he is at his job instead of taking it out on customers who paid for the food there and expect to receive what they pay for. Other times the service is great and the workers are very friendly and do a great job at not forgetting things. That one guy though needs to be replaced. This isn't the first time he's messed up our order. I think next time I come here, if I hear him in the drive through I'm just going to leave and eat somewhere else. Having stopped to take in a famous private Christmas light display on Route 22 (3678 Route 22, Wassaic which is very close to here), we stopped in here yesterday. Although I ordered in two separate orders, I had two separate experiences that were completely different of each other. At first when I ordered a McFlurry during the first order and a small soda (something I made a mistake over), the stuff came out ahead of what my brother ordered (my one brothers' order was placed before mine). They never reminded me when I ordered that all sizes of soda's are just $1.00 here - something I remembered much later, even after my mother mentioned it to me after she realized my mistake when they brought the stuff to me at the counter. Later on, while eating my McFlurry I listened to some of the comments about the products my mother ordered. It came out wrong. Although one of the fries was undercooked, that was a mistake. The fry was found in a tiny Happy-Meal box which she had eaten from and although those new tiny fry boxes are cute- this was a mistake. I don't know too much about her experiences at the register. After my brother bought a large fry, I went up and bought a Medium fry. Still unsure why I did, maybe the man above (He) was trying to tell me to not go up to place the order. Although I asked them to go easy on the salt, it took them forever to make the special order, and although with much any other McDonalds where for special orders the customer can stand around to collect their goods, when the employee got snippy to me and told me to sit down and they'd bring it to me when I realized and was waiting there instead (the customer is always right), I was rather annoyed at their response. They brought me my fries, and having gone back to my seat after a minute or so of waiting, I met the employee half way to claim my fries. He was nice but you could tell things weren't going very well. This McDonalds seems to be a little outdated. Unlike most of my other McDonalds near me going to the new exterior theming and upgraded interior furnishings, no self-service kiosks were here - something I've come to like at others near me. The self-service kiosks could have prevented some of the bad encounter of the employees. For a small McDonalds, I was surprised that some of their common menu items don't display on the boards. If I hadn't seen the McFlurry makers out, I would have assumed they didn't have McFlurries in their store - it wasn't listed on their electronic menu boards. I expect a lot of a McDonalds upon a first appearance, but this place is still underrated in my opinion and I really need to wait for this place to improve if they want to continue to have me for one of their customers - even if I come in maybe once or twice a year. read more

Their food has consistently made me feel weird and almost ill since my mid 20s (now 56). As a pre teen I'd crave their basic meals on a weekly basis, my family would, every couple of weeks pick up a large order of their fries but go to Big D's for burgers... Living in Budapest in my late 20s I had a craving for McDonald's, went to a local franchise, ordered a 1/4 pounder meal, ate it and promptly fell ill. That was 1990 and I have not been back since. This place appears to have illegal immigrants working here. They stop waiting on customers to talk, laugh and joke among themselves, they never thank you for your patronage. They have too many flies that'll lite on the food, you spend more time swatting flies trying to land on your food than eating. The person assigned to cleaning and sweeping will stop cleaning and wait on customers, handling food without washing their hands first. I called the hotline number to complain, the district manager never bothered to call back. Off-Duty employees will go behind the counter to feed themselves in street clothes without washing their hands. read more

Why is it every time I go to this McDonald's, they never have anything that I order ready? I usually order two double quarter pounders and a large french fries. I am always told that I have to pull into a parking spot and wait. Last trip took twenty minutes to have the food brought out to my car. I was just about to go inside and get my money back. This McDonalds is a decent and typical McDonalds. It is sometimes a hit or miss with this Dover location....once in a while you will get a stale bun or browning veggies on your sandwich, but I guess it's the price you pay for fast food. Did I say fast? There is nothing "fast" about this place...I've waited 10-15 minutes for food, and one time they asked me to move up a few feet, park my car in a reserved spot, and to wait as someone was going to bring my food out to me. After 15 minutes I got out of my car and to my surprise they totally forgot about my order!? Totally defeats the purpose of a drive thru window. My order wasn't complicated, the only special request was fries with no salt. No money taken off my $25 bill, no coupon, nothing. Just a quick apology with no eye contact. Thanks so much.
