My special education basketball team was in the area for a game. We stopped by for lunch on the way home since we had a long drive back. We literally had 29 kids and staff swarm their establishment (sorry!)... but they did amazing despite the humongous order. Since I started working nearby, this is the third time I come to this McDonald's. It is absolutely the worst by far. The drive-through people are rude. They take too long and the food is either cold taste old or something else today it was all of the above in addition to a soap taste to it. It's not even worth me going back to complain. The drive thru was not working when we first pulled in. There was a sign or anything to let patrons know. I proceeded to come in to place an order the kiosk did not accept cards or cash at the time of placing the order why have these available if you can't use them? Awful service! When I arrived just before 8am, there were four cars in the drive through. Seven minutes later we had not moved. I left the line, parked and went inside of the store. There was no one at the counter, so to place my order I used the machine. The machine was complicated and I had to ask another customer how to proceed to the payment screen. My machine was out of paper, so I did not obtain a receipt- and thus did not know my order number. Then I waited another 15 minutes. While I waited, I observed utter chaos. They seem to be well staffed but there was a problem with their process. It was disorganized. Anyone could collect any order. I had to literally beg the employee for my food. The sad thing about this entire review is the fact that this McDonald's is actually conveniently located off the highway and it's also one of the only locations in the area. I've been here approximately 10 times over the last couple years and to sum up all the experiences something has always been wrong every single visit. Just today I sat in the drive-through for approximately 20 minutes, hoping to pick up my order that I placed ahead of time in the app. Once at the drive-through window, nobody talks to you until about five minutes later. The Diet Coke I ordered today was a slush of basically soda water that had zero carbonation and a bad mix of the Diet Coke syrup. There is a reason this place has an average of just one star, literally the only redeeming thing about this place is that the BP gas station that it is attached to has some of the nicest people at their registers. read more

On April 24, 2026, I went to the Gordonsville McDonalds. I ordered a Big Mac and a McChicken to go. I had to wait for someone to take my order. Finally, what looked like the manager took my order. He seemed to be running around doing lot of things at that time. Maybe they were understaffed. After waiting about 10 minutes for my order, I picked it up and ate the Big Mac in my car. The buns were dry and the Mac fixin's were on one side of the middle bun, dripping over the edge. Buns were dry and lettuce was old. Gave the McChicken to my wife--the bottom bun was burned to a crisp. I had asked for an extra mayo packet--it was already open! Worst McD's ever! I posted a pic of the bun. BTW, I use the app--no more! Staffing, training, and quality of ingredients are the key issues. read more

I went through the drive-thru here recently and had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. After waiting about 20 minutes in line just to order, I was told at the pickup window that their latte machine was down and I'd have to wait another 20 minutes. I politely declined and asked for a refund. Instead of simply processing it, the cashier kept insisting I trade it for something else and argued with me while I had a crying baby in the back seat. When the manager finally took my card to do the refund, the cashier and another employee repeatedly and aggressively told me to pull forward even though my card was still inside the store. I refused because I have a legal right to remain at the window until my transaction is complete and my card is safely returned. They became hostile toward me for standing my ground, but I was well within my rights as a paying customer. Customers are legally entitled to a refund when a business cannot provide what was purchased. Pressuring someone to accept something else, or to leave the window while they still have your payment card, is not acceptable and creates a serious trust and security issue. I remained polite but firm, and the treatment I received in return was hostile and unprofessional. This location needs serious retraining on customer service and on respecting consumer rights. read more

This has to be the worst McDonald's location I have ever been to. No matter how many people are in the drive-through line you are going to wait 25+ minutes to even order then another 10 to 15 waiting on your food. I got in the drive-through line today & Placed an order on the app. The line did not move for 25 minutes so I canceled my order and left. I have been to the window to get my food before and they have forgotten items, and when I ask for the items they act irritated with an attitude. Well, excuse me for asking for the fucking food I paid for. This place is a complete joke. If you go into order, it's just as bad of a wait. It's been like this for years. Plenty of workers, but we had to wait over 40 minutes for two orders of cookies and 4 drinks. Ten minutes in a standstill line in the drive thru, so one of us decided o go inside. Only to spend an additional twenty five minutes inside. People who ordered after us, received their cookies with their nuggets, burgers, etc. very disorganized and very slow! The one worker who took the trash out, was observed texting and talking in his phone for a while, before coming back in to help at the counter. When he did come in, he was not observed to wash his hands and helped with the food orders while also working the register. I can see why it only received 1 1/5. Other customer ordered a shake and the worker looked at the machine, tried to adjust it and told him the machine wasn't working. She said you'll have to get another drink. The customer's wife said, no, we want our money back. Slowest fast food restaurant ever! Not to mention serve safe concerns. I ordered an iced caramel macchiato today. It was sour. I'm not one to go back and ask for a remake but the cream in it was discolored, sour, and smelled bad, so I went back and asked for a new one. They got angry with me and were very rude, and then finally made me a new one. This new one was the same sour drink. This is disgusting. read more

After waiting 45 minutes in line I watched the workers give the vehicle in front of me 3 different people's bags to go through. It's unacceptable that none of the bags were correct AND UNSANITARY. None of those bags belonged to that vehicle so they ended up passing all the bags back through to the worker. Then, when it was my turn they hadn't even made my food yet! I requested a refund since it had already been 45+ minutes. They said that only the manager could give refunds. I sat another 20 min in line waiting for my money to be refunded. I then parked and went inside to get my money back where I had to sign a piece of paper to get my refund. Meanwhile, the workers are just chatting and having a great time while the line is backed up, the manager is outside just hanging out and customers are irate. We sat in the drive-thru for 20 minutes, because we were chatting and lost track of time before we realized how long it had been. My husband stayed in the drive-thru lane while I went in to see if I could order inside- Nope! We really wanted those Mickey D's fries, so we waited another 10 minutes just to see, and we didn't move an inch. Waited 25 minutes in line just to place the order which was ridiculous because there was only six vehicles in front of me . I got in line at 9:29 a.m. and place my order at 9:54. Figure it out why the line was so long though because the young cash register girl was telling everybody that payment was at the first window . The lobby area is dirty and from what I could see of the kitchen...it was pretty dirty too. The employees uniforms were in need of a washing. If you are stopping at Zion Crossroads to get something to eat, don't bother to go to this McDonalds, you will waste your time. The staff tend to be lackadaisical, service is slow, and often the product you get is incorrect. Sweet tea in the Unsweet container, repeatedly. Or drive through is the only option, and the wait is horrendous. It is easy to blame and get mad at the staff, but ultimately it's a management issue. I suspect the management has calculated that most of their business [that waits, doesn't leave, and finally completes the drive-thru] are travelers, whose return business they could care less about.
