It's been about a year since I last patronized this restaurant because they always forget something in my order. Well they stayed true to their standards and I made the mistake of trying them again and of course they messed my order up after waiting for 20 minutes to get my food. I suppose its my fault because I didn't empty my bag and itemize my order. Well they got me for a couple bucks but more importantly, it's not rocket science. Know what helps fuel a road trip? Big Macs. This McDonald's is conveniently located between Dodge City and Colorado Springs. It is a good spot to stop for road trip fuel and a good place to pee. But it is also super weird. It is a little hard to describe the vibe of this place other than to say it is a tad odd. I am not sure if it is the area, or the transient population of travelers who stop here. But stepping inside made me feel like I was in some sort of alternate universe. I kept telling my kids "I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore", which we weren't, and which they hated. But that is the vibe I got, if that makes sense. Plus they had a McDonald's caboose which was super strange. But guess what, the bathroom was reasonably clean, and the Big Mac was a Big Mac. So all in all, I'd stop in again. The end. read more

Pulled into this severely outdated McDonald's- like no cars in the parking lot. Walked in and immediately saw a dime-sized bug crawling on the floor. Standing in line waiting to order and notice the overflowing trash can and ridiculous amount of flies swarming around the kitchen and register area. I literally have to pick a fly out of my hair, and none of the other people in the McDonald's was swatting at them or even seemed to notice. After we order, I head into the bathroom and see a bunch of flies around the sink and on the toilets. The girl who took our order is getting our Fanta but accidentally fills it with root beer. We are watching as she dumps it out and uses the same cup. She comes to hand it to us and we asked for a new cup. She hands the old cup to a non-employee who has been standing beside the register area almost in the kitchen and she drinks out of it. We are looking for a place to sit on the west side of the building as we ordered our food "for here". We notice there is literally 2+ flies on every single table. There is no way to explain how many flies were in this building (and the parking lot). The employees are beginning to get our tray ready and the friend that was handed our old drink sits it behind the counter. The employee putting things on the tray had no idea what items were ours. He put an extra burger on our tray at first and then sat the old drink on our tray!!!!!! We realized we could not eat in here and took our individual items to eat in our car and were not offered a bag. We don't know how many flies landed on our food and probably shouldn't have eaten it but the food ended up tasting fine. The pictures do not come close to painting an accurate picture. Well, what could I possibly contribute to this locations two star overall rating....If you're traveling through this region and think this particular chain is a safe bet, you should consider fasting. The restaurant is typically busy, but look closer and the clientele are rubes from out of the area (myself included) that are thinking, "How bad could it be?" It's worse, trust me. Pack a sandwich, eat a Snickers bar, die of hunger. Any of these options are preferable to the order mismanagement, hostile customer service and lukewarm "food". Ruthless Ronnie Mr. Ronald McDonald himself would "SMH" @ this establishment. I've been twice by cheap brand name default and the service was laughable. The first time I went into the place to grab a few sweet teas since their just a dollar. Total score since we could always use a little cool refreshment in this crazy hot weather. The interior is just like any other micky dees. The only difference was the sluggish service (then again I've encountered a lot worse in Cali) and the cute little freebies for kids that you can grab at the counter. Usually you need to purchase a happy meal to get a toy but here they invest in a big box of colorful tops and little cardboard die cuts that turn into little cubes when you assemble them. My kids were stoked! Now, I came by again today but this time we used the drive-thru. I liked that they had a whimsical looking train with "Ronald's Caboose" written on the side. Adorable and super colorful. A nice touch especially since this area sees trains all the time. We ordered our food and then the wait began. There were about 4 more cars behind us and they weren't cranking out our order as fast as they should. Why wouldI mention that, you ask?? Because the manager peaked out of the drive-thru window and even laughed. I'm assuming because it was HILARIOUS that they were so backed up on orders. After about 10 minutes of waiting another employee opened the window and said "sorry about the wait" and shoved the bag in our faces. First off, I need some ketchup & pepper and second, we still need our small black coffee. Of course (like clockwork) there were ZERO napkins in the bag while we drove off. Came here while visiting LaJunta Colorado. Went in to get something to eat ordered the fish sandwich....it was cold and hard as a rock. Asked politely for a new sandwich and watched two guys play with my next sandwich and I couldn't eat it knowing he did something to my food. This place is the rudest place I have been. Drive an Eighteen wheeler and had my 5 y/o grandson with us and they would not let him use the restroom. Their meals are either ALWAYS burnt, old, or just plain cold and disgusting! Decided to eat in the restaurant today to see, for the last time, if we could still enjoy a burger in this town; only to find all of the tables filthy, trays greasy, and a staff (with the exception of the cashier who was pleasant) who had scowls on their faces. Been going every morning around 7am for about 4 weeks now and everytime they mess up my order. Its always the same chick at the window and she never puts sugar in my coffee. So i ask for more and more sugar everytime I go, like today for example i asked for 6 creams and 10 sugar because they never put any and i still didnt get none and the lady looks at me everytime like haha i didnt put no sugar! This place is horrible they never have anything that you want, they run out of french fries they run out of ice cream they run out of hot sauce they're always out of something that you want. Since this is not a corporate store anytime you see an advertisement they will not carry it. They are getting more and more and more expensive and the drive-thru is really really bad they never get your order right, they are always short of what you order so make sure you check your order before you leave. So I make my order and go to get a free coke and the drive thru cashier says "I've had 4 people come through today using the mobile app and no one has used a free coke we're not doing it" so I ask the girl at the next window who says she would be more than happy to help. I come to this McDonald's because I live in Hewitt now and it's the worst place ever. When I first moved here 2 years ago.. A kid wanted to talk smack while she forgot to turn off the speaker for no reason at all but disrespect and showing off. Being older now with my grand kids I had to refrain and the ice cream machine is always broke. I keep forgetting about how bad this McDonald's is. This is the last time. No more chances. This McDonald's in La Junta is horrible for getting orders correct. Time after time you leave and get to destination and something is either missing or not prepared as ordered. If we had another McDonald's in town I would never come back. This specific trip, a fish sandwich was ordered with extra fish patty. (Paid for on receipt) I looked in bag before pulling away and of course no extra patty. I told the girl at drive through window about shortage and she said, well it should be in there! If I could give less then one star I would. I have went to this McDonalds FIVE times now. Each time the french fries are cold...however this last time..It was worse then ever.. first, as usual the fries were cold and stiff. I ordered five meals as we had five in our group. All five burgers had what seemed like old bread on them as it was very hard. One of the burgers meat was burned (or tasted like it).. one had lettuce on it that was blackened already from being so old. So, I decided to have an icecream afterwards to get the taste out of my mouth. Bad mistake... firstly, the person who took my order did not even know HOW to make one with chocolate on top...and then the next person who did, did a VERY messy job of it, and it fell to the floor right as I got to my seat. I used to go there a lot but I got irritated that the owners yelled at the employees so much. I asked them if they could stop yelling at the employees so we could enjoy our food and they said no. I did not go back for a few years. They recently sold the place. I returned, the service got kind of bad . I waited around fifteen minutes for my food. Then when it was all ready someone from the drive through took my stuff and said, "You should have been faster." I had a hissy fit over this. They gave me all my money back but I did not care because what I wanted was my chocolate chip cookies. So after they bought me warm cookies I decided I could forgive them. I have not been back since but that is mostly because i am on a diet now and french fries and cookies are not a part of it. There are so few restaurant choices in La Junta that McDonald's can not easily be ignored. Overall I would skip them if you have the choice and go to Carl's Junior. read more

I was just shortchanged by the drive through for ten dollars, I immediately backed up--still had my "ninety" dollars in my hand except it was four twenties. The employee was beligerent about it too. They counted the drawer out while my food got cold and a manager came out to tell me it wasn't over so he could not help me. Clearly she put the money in her pocket. I'm done. Not the first time it happened but the first time she apologized and gave me my fiver, like oops honest mistake. The food is awful anyway--seriously avoid this franchise.
