Let's talk about the culinary marvel that is McDonald's hot cakes. They're not too fluffy, they are the correct thickness, they're golden, and they're practically begging for a nice slather of butter. But here's the kicker: the butter is frozen harder than a brick in a winter storm! I mean, come on, McDonald's! By the time I manage to wrestle that icy cube onto my hot cakes, they've turned colder than my ex's heart. Seriously, it's like the butter is playing hard to get. I half expect it to start charging me rent for the space it occupies on my pancakes. These pancakes are some of the best quick-serve delights out there, but if I wanted my breakfast to resemble a science experiment, I would've ordered a side of ice cubes instead. If I can't melt that butter before my hot cakes become cold cakes, I might as well just switch to biscuits. At least they come with some warm, spreadable love! So, here's a tip for the McDonald's team: maybe consider serving the butter at a temperature above absolute zero? Until then, I'll be over here in pancake purgatory, trying to figure out how to melt a brick with the power of sheer will. The Pollys Island McDonald's can be highly recommended for cleaning this and for service I had no problems a few times I visited there. The lady at the drive thru window is so welcoming, sweet, and the epitome of southern hospitality. She wished us a safe drive and to keep warm from the cold. I felt her kindness radiate from the simple, caring interaction. Appreciated the extra napkins and just the right amount of sauces. Highly recommend using the app to order food just about ahead of time plus it has some great deals and coupons for extra savings. I have visited the McDonald's in Pawleys Island several times either the food is cold. The buns are hard. Service is horrible. It's usually the evening shift. They're not polite. They don't thank you. They just hand you your money in a wad. These kids want more money I don't even know how to treat their customers. I will not be back. I just left there and I didn't get all my food last week I stopped by for a big Mac and the bone was so hard. I had to take it back in to get another one just too much trouble. read more

Quick and accurate. We got everything we ordered in the drive through within 5 minutes. (4 happy meals and 3 other burgers, so quite a lot). Everything was correct and hot. Coke was refreshing and super fizzy. read more

This McDonalds used to be good but has gone to crap. Do whatever you did 2 years ago. Recently we have been given cheeseburgers with no burger in the middle, old soggy gross fries, and generally terrible food. Also, the hygiene isn't very good. People with long hair flying around in every direction should wear hair nets or not handle food. Employees who put hands in their pockets should wash their hands. When you're refilling the ice cream machine I'd prefer not to see your butt crack. Last night the fountain machine was down and the girl on the drive through wanted to be a turd. We are out of state trying to get our kids some food and we had to come back because they left out a 20 piece nugget, we asked for a discount or something for the inconvenience. We had to driven back 15 minutes and was rudely spoken to by the "manager". She talked down to us and kept saying " you can return it, if you want a refund". Shortly after, we called to speak to a manager then the same person responded saying that she was not rude and that she could've gave us something small which was not mentioned while we were there. Drive thru review only. Quick lunch service on a Friday. Double order stations which keeps the line moving. Nice seasonal offering like sweet potato pie and pumpkin spice latte. I just ordered off the dollar/value menu. They've added several new items like BBQ Ranch Burger for $1. Crunchy tortilla strips & habanero ranch sauce is nice for a buck. The fries are 1.49 and up. Stopped off at this McDs, and was greeted by Jada (asked for her name later). I didn't know what to try, and asked her what she recommends, and she said to try the strips with signature & ranch sauce mix. Just WOW! Not only was she friendly, but knew the Menu and made my flavor sensors pleased. It was nice to try something different! I always complain if I get a bad service, but need to make sure, I praise when I get good service. Mad respect McDs! As we pulled up we noticed that the supply truck was blocking the drive thru. Once they saw us instead of moving, they continued to unload the truck. So we drove around the building and backed into the drive through instead. Once we got to the window, the worker acted like we were an inconvenience. She handed us coffee and the cup was half full. Slowest service ever for this all American fast food location. It's Friday about 2:15pm, the drive thru was backed up all the way to turn in, so I thought going in would be faster. Wrong! The line to order went quick, it was the line waiting to pick up your order that was so slow. It took at least 15 min to get your order. Everyone had the gloomy look of waiting. Then after the longest wait I had to ask for my drink cup. So I then filled it up, returned to my car and got back on hwy17 to drive back to charleston. As I started to eat, then I realized my burger order was wrong. Great job McDonald's! Poor service, long waits, don't bother. Would be no stars if possible. We went thru the Pawleys Island drive thru on 5/31/20 and noticed NO ONE was wearing gloves or a mask. Not the person taking our money, not the person at the window or the person putting our order together. I imagine the person cooking our order was not wearing gloves or a mask either. I am a longtime Pawleys Island resident and after my experience at this location on Sunday December 13th have decided to never go back. The service has been on the decline for years, but on my counter visit this day, 4 different employees refused to acknowledge my presence, including the register operator! No "hello, we will be with you in a moment". He had no problem chatting with the other employees, asking what they were doing later. I walked out, then went to one of the many competing fast food places down the road. I then called to speak with the manager, but was told she could not come to the phone. The person who answered called out "I think it's that guy that left". Pathetic! read more
