I forgot what my other half had but the cashier recommended a peach and mango with black tea. I get it every time now. I hate mango and peach but weirdly the black tea was just perfect. It does get extremely busy a lot bc they are just so good and pricing is awesome ! I do like to grab their cereal treats every so often too. But we do notice that some workers make the drinks better can recall which ones but we had a few that just was not it. So in a way a hit or miss depending on who's working. So I was really happy when I saw that this was going to open right around the corner from the school at which I teach. I was in on the Grand Opening day (Friday, Mar 3) and the place was hopping at 645 am. The service was quick and my peanut butter latte (nonfat) was served quickly and it was HOT. The expresso machine can be a tricky machine and shots can go wrong right away, it was great. The café was full, there were students dressed like they just woke up (who I would see later dressed better at school) in line behind me. Students were coming in to school with Scout's cups and drinks in hand. They all said the same thing, they were happy with the product and the price. I failed to mention the biscotti that I purchased. It was outsourced somewhere locally and it was really good too. They have paired well with a local baker. The dude in charge (I think he was the manager) was running bagels from the back while his staff was cranking out the drinks. It was great. I went back this morning (Mon) and it was quiet. I got the same service and got to talk to the dude (Tony). He is very proud of the café that he, his sister, and other partners have created. It was clear that he was excited about the business venture. They have some flavors at the bar that they must be experimenting with , they were not on the menu and will probably not be around long. I had a Toasted Marshmallow latte this morning and it was even better than the PB one. It was really good. Service was quick and friendly. Everyone seemed awake, not grumpy. Many times morning employees can be very unfriendly, but that was not the case here. It was a great experience. I am used to coffee house type experiences in Columbus, and the SHort North. Scout's has a great opportunity to be the neighborhood place. I hope the locals all stop in on their way to work. It was clean, it was inexpensive (cheaper than Columbus prices) and delicious. Since it's located downtown, parking can be a little more challenging, but that's to be expected and was well worth it. The staff was one of the highlights of our visit. The girls working were friendly, personable, and very knowledgeable about the menu. They took the time to answer questions and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walked in. As two moms meeting for coffee with young children, we especially appreciated that they offered smoothies for the kids. While the flexible/ inclusive seating options at this location were somewhat limited, the space was so warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed that it didn't matter. The atmosphere felt comfortable and welcoming, making it easy to settle in and enjoy our time together. Great drinks, great service, and a cozy environment that encourages you to stay awhile. I knew I didn't want to transport a 2 tier cake but needed a cake large enough for 30-40 people. The sample she showed me (below w/ cutting instructions) looked like it was a good choice. One large cake with "Happy 60th Anniversary" written on it. What I got was "Happy 60 Anniversar" Also not very elegant looking writing. I think even I could've possibly done a better job. Our get together was on a Sunday, but the owner of the shop had a bridal shower so I'd have to pick it up Friday, 2 days prior. That was fine so I brought my son so he could carry and hold the cake until I got it home. Luckily we have an extra fridge and it wasn't a problem. He noticed it immediately as well, I really was kind of surprised it looked this way. I hoped it wouldn't be noticeable but it definitely was. Every one immediately noticed the "y" missing and commented "where's the 'y'?" - actually it was covered up with flowers and noticed it also sounded odd, Happy 60 anniversary instead of 60th. The owner didn't point out the covered up "y" and actually when I said 'where's the y'? She made no apology or offered to fix the issue. If this was a $50 Walmart cake I think they would've offered to correct it in some way but $145 cake ( plus 4% service charge-not sure what that's about), I just felt it could've looked more professional. The cake itself was pretty good. It fed the party but in hindsight I probably should've asked for some correction.
