Stopped in this morning to grab a coffee, gentlemen at the counter was very nice and helpful (he deserves more than one star). The lady, presumably the owner, was not. My three year old grabbed a children's book that they had for sale, and decided to flip through it. The owner walked over and condescendingly said "can you put that back, that's for sale." And literally went to take it.. FROM MY THREE YEAR OLD. So make sure you don't pick anything up and observe it here, or you'll be expected to purchase it IMMEDIATELY. Located in a beautiful building in the heart of Springfield is Un Mundo Cafe. They proudly serve food with ingredients from local vendors and suppliers which is great! Lots of vegetarian options on the menu as well as vegan! Food is great! Fresh, clean, great flavors. This is an awesome little lunch spot. I'm a bigger guy, and the sandwiches are on the smaller side, so next time I'll order two for sure cuz they are delicious!! Came for lunch while visiting Springfield, walked by and it looked adorable and my friend and I saw on the menu there were vegetarian and gluten free options for both of us. Here was a lot to choose from for me (both vegetarian and gluten free) but went with the vegan dog with gf bun- there were so many hot dog topping options, but I went with ruben dog, and my friend got the pizza dog. We both really liked them a lot. We both got it with a side of coleslaw, but it was pretty bland. We also got gf chocolate cookies that were soft and delicious. Just disappointed with the coleslaw, but everything else was great, great service and atmosphere also. Would be back if I lived closer. read more

I am traveling again this week and I find myself in downtown Springfield, OH. After a disappointing meal at the hotel restaurant (review coming later) I decided that $10.95 for a disappointing breakfast buffet wasn't going to my thing in the morning. My room just happens to overlook a little cafe. in a very cool period architectural building across the street and after a bit of research, I had decided on Un Mundo Cafe for breakfast the next morning. In the morning, the most difficult part was watching their window for the OPEN sign to illuminate! Rest assured I was across the street and their first customer of the day! The architectural details continue inside and then you see that Un Mundo isn't as same as it looks from the outside. I walked up to the counter and ordered a vanilla, carmel latte and a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. Everything was priced fair and was ready before I knew it. I had plenty of time before I needed to be at my customer's for work so I sat down and enjoyed a slow and peaceful time. Latte art is pretty good here and the breakfast sandwich was hand made from all local ingredients Un Mundo Cafe puts where they get their products from local farms and craftspeople. They also have a decent menu and an amazing number of their selections can be made vegan or gluten free. It is also not just a coffee shop. They serve lunch and dinner was well as alcohol. My breakfast sandwich was incredibly good. I can't say enough about it. In a sea of mediocrity of huge chain fast food, this was a very welcomed change. It was also priced competitively. That first sip[ of my latte reminded me of why I fell in love with coffee years and years ago. Dark, flavorful, creamy, and various other adjectives go to say how good the latte was. The owners moved Washington sate which is considered coffee Mecca by many coffee lovers. You might as well stop going the Star place because it can't compare! I am such a big fan of Un Mundo Cafe that I posted some picture and said on Facebook that this was the best breakfast I have in a very long time. I encourage all of you to stop by and try Un Mundo Cafe is you are ever in Springfield, OH. Stop by even if you are drink east or west on I-70. The cafe is only a couple of miles from the interstate. I will be back for breakfast in the morning and probably from dinner tomorrow! The Chinese food urge hit late this afternoon or I'd be at Un Mundo Cafe right now! read more

I hadn't tried this café before, but we decided to stop and have a late lunch. A couple of diners were still there, but overall it was pretty quiet. That was good for us actually! The menu was a little overwhelming with so many choices, but of the same content just mixed around with different ingredients,, and at exuberant prices. It's a small business and I can forgive that because they're trying to come into their own and I'm sure it's cost a lot for them to put out such a big menu and have so many different things to offer. I hate to say it, but the food was pretty mediocre and actually, I'd almost say disappointing. The beverages are very innovative for this area, anyway. I can't say I would probably choose this place again, I just don't see the attraction to wanting to go back for a grilled sandwich I could've made at home. It didn't really look like a Panini to me, it looked & tasted like a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich. Turkey meat tasted similar to what you'd buy at Kroger, not in the deli, in the prepackaged section. All in all, I wish them well, just not my favorite small restaurant so far. read more

We came off the interstate for a lunch break, and it was well worth the drive into town. Great menu selection and decent prices, and the owners were very welcoming. The smoothies were delicious and in good sizes, and my reuben was the platonic ideal of a sandwich. I know of several customers who were treated very disrespectfully by the staff. I someone happens to bring outside food in, they are told that no outside food is allowed. That's fine, and Un Mundo's right. However, they should have it posted on the outside door or window. Also, if they want groups of over 10 or whatever number to make reservations, that should also be posted outside. Don't repeatedly tell them that they should have made a reservation after it's been said. read more

Overall, I think the interior could be amped up but otherwise this place has everything I need from a chill coffee shop. The coffee is fresh with many options for customization. I didn't get a chance to try any of the food items, but the menu is expansive and most items sound delicious. Oh, and the prices are very reasonable! A 12oz coffee starts at $1.70.... not bad. I wasn't coming in with super high expectations, being in Springfield OH, but I will definitely come back to try so food next time I'm in the area. read more

I've had an incredibly rough several weeks of traveling. I was supposed to go home this morning and couldn't get an Uber early enough to make my 6AM flight. I rescheduled my flight and was sad to see I'd be home much later today, so I went to get some food! The staff here seem to know everyone who comes in, they are friendly and attentive, the ambiance is cute and small-town, but very clean and nicely decorated. Had a little time this morning to relax in downtown Springfield where I enjoyed friendly conversation with other patrons, bottomless coffee and a bagel breakfast sandwich made by the attentive gentleman working there. The coffee was smooth and hot and served in a ceramic mug. The ingredients in the breakfast sandwich were fresh. They had an interesting list of hotdog options if it had been a little later in the day. That was different for a coffee shop! The atmosphere had a quaint historic industrial vibe and was clean. Last year Un Mundo Cafe established a location in the gorgeous Heritage center in downtown Springfield. Ever since I have been a regular customer and buy all my beans there. Their coffee, baked goods and sandwiches are excellent. I would argue this is the best coffee in Springfield. The hummus sandwich is very good, but as the only vegetarian option I really can't attest to any of the other choices. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff are friendly and there is free wi-fi. Moreover, (although they don't emphasize it as much as they could) this is a non-profit business. All the proceeds go towards children's charities. You can feel good about spending your money locally and knowing that its going to a good cause--and awesome food/coffee obviously. (also: Darren is the best barista in Clark County) read more

My wife and I stopped in one day while driving around the area, knowing nothing about Springfield and doing a little exploring. The cafe is very cute, clean, centrally located, and has a nice variety of coffee and tea. We didn't eat there, but we did notice that they have sandwiches and sweets. They also sell products aimed at those interested in the environment, fair trade, etc. I ordered a double cappuccino, and my wife ordered a normal decaf coffee. I have to say that the cappuccino was really very tasty, though much smaller than double cappuccini that I have had at other cafes. Since we were exploring, we decided to take our coffees to go, though the space was very nice and looked very comfortable. The only reason that I deduct a star from my rating is that the two guys working behind the counter never smiled, never really acknowledged our existence outside of saying, "What would you like?" They seemed rather unhappy. They were quick to get our orders, which was great, but they didn't seem otherwise very happy to be there. For what that's worth. read more

I am officially making this place my new remote workspace. Absolutely love the atmosphere, the customer service is friendly, they have it all. I especially love sitting toward the back with cute little table lamps on each table, close to the bathroom. It gets cold when others open the side door right there but they keep this place nice and warm which is another reason it's so appealing in this cold weather. I've been here a few other times just quickly to grab a salad for my gluten free friend or a coffee. They make all salads fresh and had no problem removing the onion.
