I'm not a fan of mobile orders or kiosks. I like ordering from people. I tried the kiosk. It didn't apply the 2 for $6 McMuffin special. So I tried the mobile order, with 30% off, and we ordered the steak bagel and egg McMuffin with bacon, not ham. It worked, and the woman who handed me my order after 10 min. had a great smile. This place was crowded, and the employees were hustling. One gentleman was at the counter when he wasn't helping with orders. But he wasn't at the counter when we walked in and stood waiting behind three other patrons. That's why we tried the kiosk, and then mobile. Nearly every time I go here my order is incorrect!!! Today I was waiting for my order in drive thru for 10+ minutes. Finally got the order and was wrong again. The first person was asking me what I ordered and she couldn't speak English, she got someone else and she also was confused and couldn't speak English also. You can also push 2 for Spanish here because for some reason, there have always been a lot of Hispanic ladies working here. I finally went inside myself to ask for the plain cheeseburger. The guy in the blue shirt (assume one of the manager's) disappeared after I requested my food (from him). Idiot! The girl taking the order's needs to be (re)trained and take lessons on how customer service works from the guy handing out the food. He was friendly and nice. This review is not going to address the menu items so much. You're going to McDonald's. You know what to expect, food wise. If you're unfamiliar with the quality of their food, I would like to know how you've managed that. No, no, this review is about THIS particular McDonald's and how it compares to other McDonald's. Let's start with breakfast. I work very close to this location, and every single time I have thought, you know what, I'm going to pop in there and grab breakfast, I've regretted it. The food is cooked exactly like you'd expect, but the issue here is time. The drive through is notoriously backed up to Timbuktu and slow (even with outside order taker). If, by some miracle, you can weave through the line to get to a parking space, going inside wont please you either. I like to play a game in these instances. I look at which car I would be behind before I go in, and check as I leave to see how much I beat them by. I always lose at this location. There could be only one person in front of me, and without fail, it takes me longer than if I'd stayed in that horrible (10 minute usually) line. Lunch and dinner - I've been to this McD's quite a few times, since it's close to my house and work, and I'm not sure what's going on in there, but the fries always suck. Admittedly, I am picky about fries. But damn, why are they limp and soggy and lukewarm, every time I go there? I don't know much about cooking fries, but this is consistently an issue, for several years now. The inside is nice and spacious, and there is a Playland attached, where you will see very few children. The non-playland area is guaranteed to have at least one of the following: two teens having a snack and talking about someone they dislike, a large man with a laptop and bluetooth ear piece speaking VERY loudly about real estate and/or a toddler (or two) climbing the furniture and pretending the bench seats are a gangplank. Since I started Yelping my desire to eat fast food has thankfully dropped into the black hole of oblivion. I don't care how much Ronald dances and sings across my TV screen on Saturday mornings -- McDonald's is no longer one of my Top 5 places to eat in town. I will occasionally hit a drive-through late in the day for a Diet Coke or unsweetened ice tea, but the Quarter Pounder with Cheese is no longer my best friend. That being said, when I met up with Mark & Gigi in Westchase for a Thursday evening Surf Shack taco feast, I didn't balk when they proposed walking across the parking lot to Mickey D's for some dessert. Their weekly tradition was to grab a mini strawberry sundae with chopped nuts following the soft tacos, chips and salsa at Surf Shack. I stood for a few minutes and looked at the menu board. I read about the latest 1100 calorie Triple Cheeseburger Deluxe Meal and nearly gagged at the thought of choking down that massive amount of grilled cow parts. Ugggghs! Thankfully McDonald's now has a Hot Peaches & Cream turnover on their menu, and that sounded pretty good for a little dessert. Picture one of the clown's hot apple or cherry turnovers filled with sliced peaches and a shot of cream, and you've got the basic idea. Not too awful, but not something that I'm jonesing about as I sit here typing this review. McDonald's AKA Mickey D's AKA The Golden Arches AKA The Rainbow Room will always be a place that is popular with kids, commuters, working parents, and people who don't know any better. The food product is cranked out with consistent precision all around the world -- it looks the same, smells the same, has the same exact squirt of mustard and ketchup in the exact same spot on the patty, and tastes the same. Besides the structure and service. Mcdonald's is terribly ranked on the charts. They are struggling to get sales up but are failing pretty bad due to poor food savings cost choices made over the years, and were late to follow the healthier trend. It is time fast food companies start using real ingredients. They are doing the hugs campaigns, the cheese sticks now. WOW, this place overall (MCDONALDS) needs to revamp their entire menu and start using 1 ingredient in their BURGER MEAT and that is just BEEF! no hormones, no wax, no plastics, no biofuels, no chemicals, ..European news released information on Mcdonalds and how they use 24 ingredients in their Cheese Burger meat. WOW! wth. Get with the program mcd's..we wont mind paying $1 more for real meat no chemicals. Post renovation they now have 2 drive through lanes. And now it's twice as long to wait. We've been in line for 8 mins. There's are 4 cars still in front of us. Very slow line movement. I asked for a chicken biscuit. She told me there was an 8 min wait for 24 hour breakfast item, did I really want that. Well I don't want to wait 8 mins but here I am in line with more than 8 mins and plenty of time post a review. Staff was polite and was trying to move fast so thats not the problem . Management needs to revamp this 24 hr bfast and double line process. ... 11 mins total. Asking for ketchup = extra min. Shouldn't that be near the window? They have the regular menu and an indoor kids play area just realize that it gets real busy with everyone getting coffee in the morning and then look out for all of the soccer moms in the afternoon who have forgotten how to cook. Ever once in a while I like to get a fix on some McDonalds French fries and when I do order than I like them right out of the oil nice and hot. I order my fries in the drive thru and they were cold after my taste test and request for new ones. I even told them I would park away from the drive thru window and wait for the new fries but less than 2 mins I got a new batch of COLD fries. Very disappointed my fries fixed could not be met and this store could not be helpful enough to give me something as simple as hot fries :-( I give it 2 stars because maybe it was bad timing for me, most of the time in other McDonalds stores I get my hot fries. Because I didn't want to be a pain so I drove off and had a few cold fries and throw away the rest...what a waste of my money. read more
