My daughter encouraged me to download the McDonald's app and give it a try. As someone over 60 and not very familiar with this kind of technology, I was a bit nervous using it for the first time while traveling. On March 30, 2026, around 5 PM, I placed an order through the app and drove to the Tawas City, Michigan location. When I reached the drive-thru, I gave the employee my order number, but he didn't recognize it. He asked whether I had selected drive-thru or in-store pickup. Since it was my first time using the app, I told him I wasn't sure. He then asked several questions and eventually had me pull forward. I handed him my phone, and he spent a few minutes going through it before saying he needed to get a manager. After another delay, the manager came over, looked through my phone, and told me, "You selected pickup, not drive-thru." Then she simply stared at me without offering a solution. At that point, my order--already prepared and sitting inside--was getting cold. The order number I provided matched exactly with the food waiting in the pickup area. It's frustrating that neither the employee nor the manager could simply retrieve the order once the issue was clear. Instead, I was required to park, go inside, and pick up cold food. This experience felt unnecessarily complicated and unhelpful, especially for a first-time user of the app. A little patience and basic customer service could have made a big difference. Nate and I stopped here on our way out of town in a rainstorm after packing up our campsite at Tawas Point State Park in record time. We were cold and wanted a hot breakfast, but something fast. We ordered on the kiosk inside and only waited 5 minutes for our food. The employee gave us our drinks in a carrier, which was really handy. She was also very friendly. All the food was super hot and fresh, which is not always a standard at McDonald's, so that was a nice surprise. The dining area was clean and everything was well-stocked. Honestly, this was one of the best McDonald's experiences I've had in awhile, so I give it 5 stars and 2 thumbs up. read more

if I could give us any lower than a one star review, I have been to this McDonald's quite a few times and multiple times it takes way too long to get my food or even get my order taken and I have gotten raw burgers and no good fries. I have been sitting hours on and it's just really gross and I will not be coming again. I waited in their drive-through for 15 minutes today and then went inside. Had people look at me and ignore me for another 10 minutes just for me to order one thing because I wanted it out of there, but I needed something to drink. So I will no longer be going to this McDonald's because they suck and they are completely rude. read more

We stopped here yesterday morning and the girl at the drive thru literally just handed us the order and said nothing; no smile, thank you, no have a nice day, NOTHING! When we went to eat our food they had not included any syrup for my daughters pancakes and no straw for my husbands diet coke. SMH read more

Located in the parking lot of a Walmart in the resort town of Tawas. It is a McDonalds. Standard Menu. Pretty clean. Those are the positives. The employees tell you to wait while they finish tasks. They don't have the self order kisoks, so they made their own hard lettered cardboard table markers to deliver the food to you (slowly). They don't seem to like customers very much. There is usually always an issue when I go to this McDonald's. Now being a fast food establishment things like this happen. However it is too often. Something needs to be done training wise in order to stop this from being such a frequent thing. Constantly getting orders wrong. It seems the employees are in too big of a hurry to make sure everything is right with the orders. I was given a medium fry in a large fry container. Though it was a bigger container for the medium fry that I had ordered , it looked to be maybe a small fry in the container. compared to the other medium fry that I had purchased it was most definitely not a "medium fry". I addressed the manager about this and she very rudely told me that was the size of an actual medium fry, but was placed in a large fry container. Been a long time since I've had a drive thru attendant be so rude, and argumentative with me! I pulled up to the mic to make my order when blatantly the attendant said "What do you want" ! Not even a good afternoon or a welcome to Micky D's. But even after I ordered a quarter pounder with cheese meal. The attendant had put in an order for a chicken and biscuit meal. I said the screen shows something different than I had ordered. She then proceeded to argue with me that I was wrong , and that I had ordered the wrong meal! And McDonalds in Tawas City even care that they only have 1 star for reviews? Im a out of town contractor that was going every morning for 3 weeks for coffee and a Mc Griddle. With a couple more weeks still being in the area. It's not a lot , but McDonalds of Tawas City. You just lost $300 worth of sales! read more

As a former employee of this establishment I can't tell you how many times I heard F them they just have to wait, the regular beef party's could spend up to 4 hours in the UHC trays when standard time is 15 minutes and one time a manager was laughing as she served a order of bacon fry's with a mayfly in it and said well there getting some good protein. ALL employees are clearly racist due to the fact the only African American people who worked there where married to white employees and you couldn't go one day without hearing the N word. I went and bought my old man a number 3 for dinner the other night...When I gave him his meal he started to eat he pulled out a hair...A long hair so he thought somehow my hair got in it (that was not the case)...He kept eating and he bit into a mouth full of hair like someone took the hair out of their hair brush and put it on his food...My old man called the store to tell them what happened and they yelled and cussed him out, said no one in the store would do anything like that...Well little do they know we have been in touch with general management of the store and am trying to reach the owner...With the virus going on and my man is a kidney transplant patient what kind of illness could they be giving him ??? #Mcdonalds watch your workers better before you get sued a hell of a lot more!!!To top it all off this McDonald's doesn't have espresso and they charge you for it and you don't get it...The only McDonald's I'll ever go to again is Oscoda...You lost a very big family of McDonald's fans I even have a daughter in law that works for a McDonald's... read more

I do a lot of traveling for work and pleasure. Unfortunately for my diet, McDonalds restaurants ate often on the menu as a quick lunch/dinner on my way from place to another. Usually, they are pretty consistent from one location to the next. Ironically, this location in my home town is the exception. The Tawas location is quite possibly the worst I have run across. I keep trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the only consistent thing is their inconsistency. Want a Shake or McFlurry to go with your burger and fries? You may want to consult your Magic Eight Ball first. More often than not it seems their "shake machine is down". In a hurry? It is inevitable they will have one of the drive thru lanes closed or you will be asked to pull forward, after paying of course, leaving you no recourse other than to wait until they are good and ready to bring your food out. You would think the extra time would at least mean the food would be hot and made correctly. If you did think that, you would be wrong again as you end up feeding the cold fries to the ever present Seagulls, and carefully try to rebuild your sandwich stuffing onions and pickles back between the buns and/or scraping the cheese off the wrapper. This place makes "fast food" into 2 lies for the price of 1. It is rarely fast and what they serve can only be called food by using a very loose interpretation of the word.
