I really don't understand the bad reviews this is the best McDonald's I have been to the food is always good and fresh

What a horribly run business. Every time I have been there, the lines have been long, the ice cream machine has been "broken," (I doubt they even have one), the food has been flavorless, and something has been missing from my order. Today, I wanted to try the new strawberry shortcake McFlurry so I stopped by this place as it was close to the library which I had to visit anyway. But OF COURSE ice cream wasn't on the menu today so I settled on a kids meal hamburger as I only budgeted a few hundred calories. Well, my fries were cold, the burger was soggy after basically being drenched in tasteless ketchup, and they even forgot to include my apple slices, which is what I wanted most of all. I usually go around 8am to get breakfast on the weekend. Usually the service is fast and I get my order in 5 minutes or less. More than a few times the restaurant closed the inside part where you can eat and order. No warning at all until you go and find out. This wastes my time. A tip for McDs at least give a warning that the inside is closed on the website. When it's open no problem and fast service. read more

This is the worst McDonald's I have ever been to in my life. I live near by but have never gotten a meal prepared correctly. Do not order sweet tea here because they are apparently always out (I've live here for two years and have gotten one sweet tea) and I've never not had a rude server. Today they never brought our food out after sitting in the drive through extra parking for 40 minutes even tho the drive through was empty and no one answered the phone. They then argued with us at the drive thru for asking for our food. They also only address people in the drive thru as "bruh". If possibly avoid this McDonald's at all costs. read more

What a difference!!! I had posted a review several years ago after visiting this McDonalds several times over the years. It was so consistently bad in terms of service that I left the only 1 star review I had ever written. Due to available time and my wife's insistence we visited again a recent trip to Cleveland. Not sure if it is new ownership, new management, or both but this experience was one of fastest, most welcoming, and enjoyable I have had in years at a McDonalds. Each of the three employees we interacted with were friendly, welcomed us, and wished us a nice day. The food and drinks were consistent taste and quality you expect from a well run McDonalds. Very bad experience here, they take 40 minutes to bring out 2 burgers and 2 fires I've been waiting here so long that I forgot what I even ordered, I hate coming here because they are so slow and have no since of urgency, I also ordered a drink but they said they don't serve drinks now because the machine was down. I left a bad review a couple years ago after many bad experiences. Things have changed! I finally decided to give it a try again. I have been there twice in the last couple of weeks and my husband went inside just the other day. All experiences were much better and orderly than before. I did notice that some of the workers look super young, like barely legal to work young. However, they were super polite and did a good job. Some people might find that problematic nevertheless. When my husband went in, he said it was remodeled and that they didn't give him any kind of trouble or obstacles to getting a coffee that was only half decaf. He said it looks nice inside. It was clean. Our hash browns were hot. No supplies missing from coffee. Fillet O fishs are put together in a sloppy manner but that's the standard at any McDonald's. Likewise, they have the double drive-through line thing like at many McDonald's that sometimes makes it socially awkward to know where to go. read more

Avg, run-of-the-mill McD's. Was here for the Oct 7, Rick and Morty Szechuan sauce promotion. Managed to get a LE poster and some tasty Buttermilk Crispy Tenders - score. Very nice how it was NOT mayhem (unlike stories of mobs elsewhere chanting, "We. Want. SOWCE!"), ppl lined up in an orderly fashion w/ nobody trying to cut in line. Periodically, up till 2pm, a very patient employee even came around to announce ahead of the releasing time that this location did not have any Szechuan sauces, to the chagrin of us all. However, with the purchase of BCTs, the promotion item, we could snag 1 of 10 limited edition posters (10 different designs, 1 for each of the sauces. 100 of each available country-wide, 1000 LE posters total) OR 1 of 40 miniature Szechuan sauce posters, until they ran out...hyup. Don't blame the employees; blame the corporate bloodsucking, time-wasting MickieDs for this covfefe. read more

I ordered a #9, extra pickle add shredded lettuce. He said is that all. No. Oreo McFlurry. Is that all? Ok yes. I knew gahtdamn well he didn't listen to a word I said. So I asked at the pay window. Umm ok but does it say about the pickles. No. What you want what? GIRL. I know it was him on the drive thru lol. Like how you hear 9 but not another word. Annoyed. So, I get my meal and decide I better just ask for a side of pickles. I was right. Also I think they forgot to salt the fries but my coke was good so I guess two stars it is. Hella disappointed. Like I know it's fast food but unless you're going to only charge me for part of my order then I expect you to listen to more than part of my order. And if you only $9 an hour care about your job performance then I don't feel anything at all about you wanting more dollars an hour for your job. read more

I've given this McDonald's enough opportunities, now it's time for a review. Sometimes the employees here can't count, sometimes they forget items, sometimes they have attitudes, sometimes they argue. The only nice thing I can say is that there are some nice employees here you get sometimes, and they don't take an insane amount of time to get you your food. Whether it's correct or not is another story though. The latest, they didn't give us sauce. I directly asked the kid handing us food if he put sauce in the bag, he said yes, slammed the window in my face while I was still talking to him. I had to get his attention to get him to open the door while I asked for ketchup. He had an attitude the whole time. Yea, it's fast food, yea, they get busy, but when I look at you directly and you lie to my face instead of just putting sauce in the bag, maybe you're not built for food service? I'll make sure to utilize the Woodmere location in the future. read more

Have been here several times and never had any complaint about our experience. Granted, no extraordinarily positive experience to write home about, either. Today, I took the kids for a bike ride here for some treats. It's not all that far of a ride, so we didn't think about bringing any water. But it turned out to be a pretty hot afternoon! We placed our orders then asked for a couple of cups of water. Here's the shocker... they said it would be $1 for each cup of water!!! I clarified and said I'm asking for tap water, NOT bottled water. They said tap water is $1. WHAT?!?!? Ridiculous! I came to this drive thru this morning to order nuggets and fries, and not only were the fries cold, but they also were not salted (at ALL it seems). Instead of salt on my fries, I got a BUNCH of blue hairs! I just wish I would've noticed the abundance of hairs before eating a fourth of the bag of fries. This McDonald's location may literally be the worst McDonald's location in the entire nation. I go here more often than I'd like, I've practically been going here for all 20 years of my life, because it's just so darn close to my house it wouldn't make sense to go to another one, and not one time has this McDonald's done its job well. Every experience here was been a pick 2/3: Get your correct order, get your order in a timely manner, or get your order and it tastes good. I've never gotten all three. It's to the point where I go to other locations and am surprised by how much better tasting the food is and how much better the service is....and again, this is McDonald's we're talking about. If a location is so bad that other locations can leave me pleasantly surprised by the most notorious corporate fast food chain in the world, you know it's bad. read more

Went through the drive through, the clerks that took our order and money and gave our food were wearing their masks below their noses and no gloves. The workers that were in the area had their masks under their nose. We ordered 2 number 9 ( should have been 4 cheeseburgers). They gave us an order with 3 burgers, they did give us the 4th. When we got home, 2 cheeseburgers didn't have meat, only cheese and the bun. They are the worst. read more

This is the 2nd time we've been inside since they renovated the building. Previously this was the ABSOLUTE WORST location and I would drive out of my way to go to the Mayfield Heights location where Tony the owner visits every table and asks how everything is. Their food is always fresh and good (for McDonald's). Today, we were pleasantly surprised by the fast and friendly service at the University Heights location. We even overheard a manager instructing the other employees "People pay good money for our food, let's make it look good!". The store definitely looks so much better now that they redid it. We were wondering if the ownership changed here as the staff seems to be completely different than the uninterested, rude and inept staff before and actually on top of getting orders done fast and correct. The food was still McDonald's but overall way better than usual. The recent times we've gone through the drive through the service has also been much better than previous times. I hope this is a permanent change. EDIT: As we were leaving my mom attempted to get a refill on her tea since it seems that they took out the soft drink machines during the renovation. She was told that they no longer do refills and that she would have to purchase a new drink altogether. A manager was standing nearby and told her that she could of course have a refill (the employee that told her she couldn't didn't look too happy) but they said that she needed to have a whole new cup not just take the lid off the old one. She filled the new cup up to the top with ice so there was actually very little tea in it. A somewhat annoying spot in an otherwise good visit. I hope this no refills thing isn't true or that's really disappointing and cheap. read more

This place is one of the worst McDonald's chains I've been to. We came in at 9:48 pm to order quickly since the drive thru looked a little busy. Unfortunately doors were locked even though the sign on the door said dining room closes at 11pm. Then came home to a mcchicken with a piece of lettucE that was more than likely spoiled. All the food seems like it's been sitting a while and the warmer is broken. Dry, tasteless burgers. I worked at McDonald's for a significant amount of time. It's not very hard to keep food fresh or make it properly. Even during a rush. Mind you, I always go when there's 2-3 people ordering food. I get working fast food sucks, but so does me spending money on food that sucks. Get it together and hire people who want to work. $7 for a sandwich to get this travesty pictured. This place stinks. People working act as if your doing them a favor. I don't think the employees handling food or by food should not have their long hair hanging down their back HAIRNETS would be nice. Also they are so busy they can't keep up with the orders yet some how we ended up with very dry burgers and cold fries. So predictably bad it should be treated as radioactive and as an added bonus the food is now nearly as bad as the service, too! Never underestimate the ability of someone to ignore what is written on a brightly-lit screen, as even if you order what you want and pay for it, and is written clearly on both the receipt and brightly-lit screen in front of the worker at the window, they will still discover new and innovative ways to not only mess up your meal, but ruin dinner and even create a stigma against McDonald's in general. So, I stop by and order a #3 (double quarter pounder with cheese meal) and after a few minutes--because the worker at the window did not know what my order was even with the screen--was given a quarter pounder with cheese meal (#1, I think). Try working all day and grabbing a fast meal on the way home for some calories only to pay for a double and get a single. Add to that that the cheese looks like a bad cornhole player was trying to throw the slices onto the burger from the other side of the room, the fries would have been that sort of slimy that exists when they have not been cooked thoroughly but heated and pulled from the fryer at least 90 seconds too early, and having an overall food temperature of the meal that would have been considered "lukewarm" at best when picked up fresh at the drive through window...well, I have learned that there is a reason to boycott this McDonald's. Never again.... As the old saying goes, "perhaps if we annoy customers enough they will stop bugging us!" I guess their plan is working... well, at least with this customer. I would consider calling to complain to a manager but having attempted this potential remedy several times in the past to no avail, one learns that it is a waste of time. Try calling and tell them the problem, they say "we will put your name in the book and you can stop in and get your correct order" except that one stops in and they pretend to know nothing of the previous problem. I am sure on some level that this is quite amusing.... For me, however, this is the end of my patronage at the University Heights McDonald's. read more

Standards are never high for a McDonald's. But this one manages to fall short of every standard of food service. You'll wait forever. The staff plays games in the drive thru. Asking stupid irrelevant questions. On one occasion I placed my order and they gave me a number. Ten minutes passed and I went up to the counter. There an employee told me she called my number and no one came up. Which is untrue since I had been waiting in front of her the entire time. On another occasion The worker in the drive thru asked me to pull over to wait for my order. 20 minutes later no one came out. When I went inside they just flat out forgot about me. No apology. No compensation for bad service. They callously handed me a bag without saying aIt's the worst fucking McDonald's I've ever been to. I wish I could give this place negative five stars read more

This McDonald's is terrible. I have held off on giving a review because today is not the first time my order was not up to par. From cold fries that tasted like they were cooked the day before to fish sandwiches with cheese hanging out of the bread. TODAY, the Sprite was nothing but carbonated water; absolutely NO flavor at all and the sweet tea, was totally watered down and not sweet at all. I had such high hopes when I found out there would be a McDonald's in the neighborhood. What a joke! And a waste of too much money. read more

This McDonald's used to always look so clean. We went in for diner last night after taking a hiatus from this location due to horrible customer service and decline in food quality. I absolutely love the touch screen ordering. I only wish you could type in all special requests without having to go to the cashier to do it and they need to provide sanitizing wipes for the screens since everyone is touching them. They had an awesome guy as a manager at one point , who made sure all the food was up to par and the staff was decent . I knew they would not be able to keep him there, but it was good while it lasted. Any who, our meal was ok. I asked for a well done Big Mac, but they did not fulfill the request to my liking. The drink station was filthy with a lot of gnats flying around it, never seen that before . Paper, used cups and trash everywhere on surfaces in the restaurant and in the parking lot. The lights were not working properly in the parking lot, ominously blinking like there was going to be Aliens descending upon the place. This was a great clean location at one time, McDonald's please restore it back to its glory, our neighborhood deserves nothing less. read more

Ordered two sanwhiches in the drive through on 8/17/2021 at 8:19 pm. I was told to pull up and wait. After 20 minutes, I went in and requested a refund or my food. The manager JJ refused to give me a refund and told me that my food wasn't ready. She refused to give me a the district manager number or name and stated she was the only manager. A very skinny worker with a neck tattoo came out the back, removed his name tag and started to get irate, hostile, and combative to the point several employees restrained him, while the manager JJ laughed, made rude comments, and refused to supply me the name of the skinny employee who got threatening. I was denied a refund or the food I paid for and then the staff attempted to intimidate me. read more

The restaurant is very clean and inviting - unfortunately the staff is not only inept but also rude. Our order was on the board as done 10 minutes before they were actually done, and then it was wrong. They were angry when I asked them to correct it.
