McDonald's is a great place overall. I've never had any issues with the service or the personnel, everyone has always been polite and efficient. Honestly I only come to this location in the morning. The food comes out quickly, and the restaurant is usually clean and well-maintained. The only concern I have is regarding professionalism. Since it's a food establishment, I think employees with long hair should have it properly tied back. A few times I've noticed girls with their hair falling in their face while working, and it comes across as unprofessional in a food-service environment. So ran by last night to get a quick dinner for two of the grandchildren after seeing the Lake Myra light show in downtown. Was really disappointed that after we ordered the young lady running the first window told us they could not accept cash only cards to pay for the food because they had no change. Not sure but I believe this is an illegal action as paper money has a notation that says legal tender. I understand the idea that there is a coin shortage, but this is just crazy to no accept cash for a sale. Next time I will order and pay with all coins to help them out. Arguably the worst McDonald's in the United States. I was in town from Ohio. The restaurant shorted me a Quarter Pounder meal after assuring me it was in the bag. The bag was full of napkins. I should have slowed down the line and checked everything. If you do make the mistake of going here you should double check your order. The person taking the money for the order was very confused when it came to a certain amount and I gave him enough money to get a whole dollar back instead of a bunch of change. I had to tell him to enter it in the register and it will figure it out. This restaurant is very mismanaged on the business end. Every time I go to the McDonald's in Wendell NC I regret it! I order french fries & chicken nugget happy meals. . Not anything weird like a mcgriddle at 9 o'clock at night! They are always forgetting Something. Usually it is the sauce that I pay an extra $0.35 for. In fact I've never had them NOT forget something. But tonight I had to drive my nephews home later than normal and thought I would treat them to a happy meal. Why do the kids order happy meals at all? Not for the gogurt (which they always remember) NOPE. It's for the TOY McDonald's. The Toy in both of the happy meals = Not there! when do I find out about it? After I drop them off and am already home. So fed up I decided to call to speak to the manager. Yeah, the online # automatically goes to a voicemail that doesn't mention McDonald's at all. Making people pull up to wait for French fries for at least 5 minutes is aggravating.. #justsayin Forgetting anything on a simple order that is repeated back to you twice is aggravating!! Forgetting the toy in both of the happy meals after waiting 5 minutes for a simple order AND after forgetting the sauce that I reminded you about twice.. then not picking up the phone.. I'm done. Apparently they close whenever they feel like it. Multiple times I have shown up an hour before close and been told that "we closed early tonight" or there won't even be anyone there. They are good at something though. They are very good at consistently getting my order wrong when they do decide to open the restaurant. Don't waste your time. read more

Came to this location to satisfy my pregnancy cravings. I ordered a MADE TO ORDER 10 piece chicken nugget meal. The person who took my order repeated back to me "so you want it fresh?" To which I replied "yes". Well, when I ordered, it was right as they were starting lunch. Obviously everything should be piping hot because they JUST started making lunch. My chicken nuggets were not hot at all when I pulled them out of the bag. Any pregnant women will tell you that when you are craving something, you really want it the right way. I was furious when the box was not hot then when I opened it, the chicken nuggets looked like they had been sitting out for a while. I took a bite and remained calm. They weren't cold, they were warm, but definitely not hot or fresh. I asked my husband to taste them to confirm that I wasn't crazy, considering what time we ordered the food. His exact words were "How are these things half cold". I remained calm and called the restaurant, I told them the situation, that I went through drive thru and specifically ordered them to be made fresh. I just asked if I could come back and have them remade. The lady I spoke to on the phone said "They cannot not be fresh. We just started making lunch. I guess you can come back and get them remade." Well, as pissed off as I was about the whole situation in general (and anyone knows a pregnant hungry woman is not a happy woman), we went back. I didn't say a word. I let my husband talk to them. When we pulled up to the speaker, they told us to pull up to the second window. When we got there, we received more attitude from a young lady at the window regarding how there is no way they aren't fresh, and that she wanted to see them. We gave them back and upon them INSPECTING THE CHICKEN NUGGETS, after they confirmed they were for sure not fresh, they silently gave us a fresh 10 piece. Definitely not going to this McDonalds ever again. Unfortunately, my husband works in landscaping in the area and they eat there frequently on lunch. 30 minutes thought the drive thru, how would you have handled it? I come here almost every morning, always through the drive they, i have had no problem, longest it has taken 4 min tops, and always friendly. But tonight was the worse, I ordered a my husband a meal and two sausage burritos, the lady in the speaker was coughing after ever word and then some, she still adding and taking away on the digital screen and asks me to move, I figured with coughing she couldn't hear what was saying, I go up to first window and it's a guy, he takes my card and doesn't verify, just asks for the amount, so if to the second window, he reaches out to give me two drinks as he does, asks if I need a drink tray, I got them in my hands now so "no", he is being tickle by a CO-worker, he then hands me my bag says chicken sandwich and two sausage biscuits, I said I ordered sausage burritos , he replied back we don't sell those still playing with the girl, I said yes you do they are on the all day menu, he "oh yea that's right, if you move forward, I'll have someone bring them out to you" said ok fine and moved my car forward, after sitting there for awhile cars are rolling through I realize there is no one coming, I have been forgotten, so in order to avoid becoming emotionally angry and show my but I call the place from inside my, tell them I'm still waiting for my burritos, the put the guy on the phone and he says "oh I thought you said everything was find" they said another kid to come and get my receipt and the cold biscuits and in that order. I try to hand the biscuits to him first and he wouldn't take them, then time goes by again and another come out with the burrito and no receipt, I ask her for the receipt, she has a blank stare and says they just told me to bring this out, I'll get the manager. Now by the time the manager comes out I believe I have seen everyone on staff that is working, she ask me "what seems to be the problem", I try to calm down and speak in a soft spoken voice of the whole event. She narrates through the story, she was unaware of what was going on until now because they were speaking Spanish to each other back and forth and she doesn't speak the language(I didn't see nor speak to any Spanish speaking employee), she also commented that she commented her boss that they have to many children on the second shift in her opinion, she did offer to take my burritos back and refund my money, I told not after I burned a gallon of gas and had to work to get she won't, needless to say I didn't get any free meal, no discount, and the free advice on them better training their employee regardless of age, I still left steaming, just in closing it will a long time, a very long before I go McDonalds at night again, after all was said and 39 minutes in drive thru and other 15 talking back and forth total time 45 min, 6 people for 2 burritos read more

It's so unfortunate that this is the only McDonald's in the area. I'm going to start by saying my kids eat here 3x a week. Due to practice with the Wendell rams football team. I spend 10 to 20.00 a week here. Every time I come here it's the same. So I'm going to take my money elsewhere. The employees are rude. If you have a issue they talk In spanish and burst out laughing to each other. I paid a extra 1.00 for bacon and it was so burnt that it crumbled in my hands. You have to ask multiple times for a straw and napkins. There is never any sweet tea in the front. Management is little to none. There was vomit on the children's play room floor for over 30 minutes. I was told by another parent that they told management over 30 minutes ago.Fire them all this is ridiculous. I actually updated this review hoping the owners of this location would contact me. I just went through the drive thru and ordered a bacon McDouble, xtra pickle and onion, no ketchup. They make these every day, right? Seems like a simple sandwich, right? Apparently not for the Wendell McDonald's. It's almost a guarantee that they're going to get something about your order wrong, every time you come here, to the point of actual concern for the mental health of the people working here. How do you actually type into the Point of Sale that I ordered xtra pickle and onion, and then proceed to make a sandwich with NO pickle and onions on it? And then when I come back to ask you to correct it, you give me a new sandwich with NO BACON on it!!! Bacon is in the name of the sandwich!! I almost never write reviews but this pissed me off so much I had to ask for my money back. I'm literally sitting in my car in the parking lot writing this because I couldn't wait to vent about it. This place is ridiculous and they need competition, because I'm sure this incompetence is due to the fact that they're basically the fast food monopoly of Wendell. Please update your hours! Your door says you're open until midnight on Saturday nights however when I came by after a sports event and it was 11:40 pm the door was already locked and people inside were cleaning and waved me away. If you're not going to stay open then change your hours to correctly reflect the hours you plan on being open and serving paying customers. read more

Has anyone else noticed how this location tries to upsell you? If you order a value meal, they will add a larger drink without asking you. This has happened more than once. When I said something about it today, the young girl at the window taking money was too busy asking someone on the other end of the phone if they would go on a date with someone else. Then they gave me unsweetened tea when I asked for sweet tea. My purpose for going to the drive-thru was to avoid going in.
