McGees Bakery has been a staple ground spot for Carrollton, GA. The McGee family has always been great to our family, and we appreciate everything Mike and Cliff do for Carroll County. It's so nice to see how far this business has grown. The bakery items are so good; from the original brownie all the way up to the custom cakes. The cream horns are always a good selection, and you can never go wrong with any of their cookies. The business has grown so much that the ladies handling the front represent the McGee brand so well. They are always so nice! This place holds a special place in our families hearts and we highly recommend checking this cute little bakery shop out. Ordered custom cake sqaures with specific customizations asking for the sunflowers to be oversized on top to cover the whole square. When I came to pick up the cake sqaures the flowers were of course ...not oversized and actually very small in the middle of the cake.. I told the cashier about the discrepancy and she responded that she did not make the cakes and that if I wanted to come in and get it changed out the following day that I could . This info was not useful considering the day of the event was that day of pick up for the cakes . This is a super cute hidden bakery on maple street in carrollton. They had a small lunch menu, but we were just looking for something sweet. They had a large selection of cookies, and other sweet treats. I got a peanut butter cookie, a butter cookie, and one other that looked like a chocolate and oatmeal no bake cookie. So I ordered 100 cake squares for our wedding on 10/10, I had read that the guy was very rude if anything went wrong but I wanted to support a small business for our wedding. They were ordered well in advance, I asked for a cursive F, you know wedding worthy and this is what I got. My brother picked the cakes up for me and FaceTimed my now sister in law while in the bakery, they did confirm it was the right amount of cakes and that the round cake was correct. When the cakes got to me at the venue, I was so embarrassed to even serve these. So I called before anything started and the first man I talked to was extremely rude and basically said he didn't/couldn't do anything about it. He offered to refund me $50, which I wasn't too happy about but agreed anyway. Then I get a different call from a man I believe his name is Mike and he said that since my brother and sister in law confirmed it was the right cakes that nothing would be done. Both men were extremely rude and unprofessional, talking over me, and mansplaining. I wouldn't suggest using this bakery for anything due to how defensive they get when they're in the wrong. Normally I love this place. I love the small square cakes and cookies. I ordered a cake for my youngest sons birthday in September and it was super. I decided Saturday to go by and see what they had because it was my oldest sons birthday. His favorite cake is red velvet. They had two so I got one of them. I'm so excited to surprise him at our lunch with a cake from Mcgees bakery!! We eat and then cut the cake....it's hard and dry. The icing isn't good. My mom says I believe I could've made a better one. My son this isn't that good. Seems like it's been in the freezer. My daughter in law says the icing is not good and cake is dry. I feel so let down and disappointed. I am back and forth about letting them know. I decide today to drop them a message to let them know it was below standards and we were disappointed and they messaged me back a rude sarcastic message! I was feeling bad and now I'm a bit mad. Needless to say I will never give them my business again. Learn to accept a complaint and do not treat your customers like that. You keep it up and you won't have any left! I got a cake here for my daughter's birthday and I will never use this bakery again. I paid sixty dollars for a one layer sheet cake with a Minnie Mouse design. The Minnie Mouse was unrecognizable and the icing was cracked. Many guest commented on our "doggie cake". I hoped that, what it lacked in looks, it would make up for in taste. I was wrong. The icing (which was supposed to be chocolate) tasted like bitter chemicals. The yellow cake was dry as a bone. Most guest left their piece with only one or two bites taken. Even the children wouldn't eat it. I ended up throwing it away. When I called to complain, the woman I spoke to was rude and completely unapologetic. She advised me to "Not insult the baker." Needless to say, I will never use this bakery again. I was very disappointed in the cake and the unsatisfactory service. read more
