Found this gem on a whim, and they are fair and thorough. We took our pontoon in for what we thought was a simple weld to fix a leak, and they went over the boat and fixed many welds that were not properly fixed in the past by the previous owner. They fixed our trailer also, and we have peace of mind for many years to come. The most respectable part of our transaction was they called us prior to doing any of the work and gave us a quote and told us how much it would cost. Hard not to love this place, they will do anything on a boat to repair it... they have redone at least 3 of my props (we're very good at bending them) and they welded our cracked ski tower (excellent job too) and lets see, about a half a dozen other things we needed fixed. Trailer comes to mind. They are honest, good working folks that will do a job over again if you're not happy. I can't imagine taking my boat to any other shop. Last week I hit a stump on the lake and it bent my Volvo Duoprop setup. I'd never used McGill's before but everyone I asked said they were THE place to go. The shop was honest that that might not be able to fix one of the props and talked about the cost for a used replacement if needed in that scenario. However, they were able to fix both and polish them up and they looked great! I appreciated the honesty and the over delivery. Considering a new set of props was $1,200 I'm very happy at the approximately $150/prop to repair them. I used the props over the weekend and they performed perfectly; like new! While I don't want to make a habit of taking props in for repair I will definitely be back to McGill's. They also stock a selection of new/used props. read more

Needed a stand fabricated for a bait tank. Dropped off the tank on a Tuesday and went over the design with a guy who seemed pretty nice. Said he'd call me with a quote on Friday. I call the following Tuesday and speak to the same guy who says their plasma machine is broke and he hasn't had time to work up the quote and he'd call me with it in a couple days. I call the following Tuesday and get the same guy who says he doesn't have a quote because he worked 69 hours last week but he'd get it to me in a couple of days. I call the following Tuesday (3 weeks) and get the same guy who says he's been swamped and worked 73 hours last week. I decided to cut my losses and went to pick up the tank. Same guy brought the tank outside and said "sorry" and walked away. read more

I tried using all of those prop recommendation calculators online, and was a bit nervous that they all recommended significantly different blade/diameter/pitch profiles. I needed someone with some experience. Ron is your guy at McGill. He asked all the right questions, and gave me an option that was significantly less than what I was expecting to spend for pro performance, and a profile that I hadn't even considered. My big under-powered cruiser jumps out of the hole now, planes fast and easy, and stays there at lower RPM's. Top end increased by about 25% as well. I'm not sure about fuel efficiency yet as I only took it out for a quick spin after install, but with that kind of performance boost I am not that worried about spending a little more at the pump if it means not asking my guests to all huddle up in the front of the cabin in order to get the boat to plane out. These guys are Great. I learned about a major problem with my boat trailer at 2PM on a Friday afternoon. After being refused by two auto repair shops and another trailer shop I called McGill. Not only did they know exactly what the problem was but they agreed to help me the same afternoon. When I got my trailer to their shop their crew set upon making the necessary repairs, along with some other sinificant problems they quickly found...problems I had suspected but could not confirm. They corrected issues on all 4 wheels and had me out in short order. A positive, helpful attitude, combined with knowing their trade extremely well, resulted in all repairs made and one VERY satisfied customer!
