Reading the other reviews, I wonder if I hit them on some off days. Summary - boats on the website do not represent their current inventory - boats on their on-site list do not represent their current inventory - boats on their lot were dirty - I didn't get the feeling that they were interested in selling me a boat Jesse, the owner, was on the phone the first day when I arrived and waved at me but never came onto the lot. There were no other customers. After 30 minutes of looking on my own, I stepped back in the office and when he saw me, he wrapped up his call. I told him my budget and asked about boats I'd seen on their web site. He explained that most of the boats I was interested in had been sold. Those boats are still on the website over a month later! He handed me an inventory list, explained that the numbers corresponded with the numbers on the trailers. He did not offer to walk me around our show me specific boats. As I walked the lot, list in hand it became obvious that many of the boats listed were no longer on the lot. When I went back in to ask, Jesse confirmed that the list was out of date. To top it off, the boats I looked at were very dirty. It may be because of the heavy truck traffic on the road that runs by their lot, but the condition of the boats did not invite climbing in to take a closer look. The one bright spot was their technician, Mike, who seemed very knowledgeable, took time (on my second or third visit) to walk the lot with me, climbed on a couple of boats so he could point out what he saw (positives and negatives). Contrast that experience with another dealer I visited (that sells new & used boats). They had very clean boats, clearly marked with prices and a sales person who met me on the lot and explained in detail the condition of each boat, motor & outdrive. They will not accept a boat on consignment until it has been checked out by their mechanics and any major issues found have been addressed. I did eventually find a boat from an individual that I wanted to buy. Because Mike was so knowledgeable and helpful, I decided to have him check out the boat (through McGoys). He did a thorough job and pointed out the good and the bad about the boat. Interestingly, the seller commented to me that when he brought the boat in for the diagnostic check and when he came to pick it up, the people in the office were rude to him. read more

Went boat shopping along I-35 since there are many boat dealers and McGoy's was one of my stops. They had mostly smaller (under 25') boats, mostly runabouts (ski boats). However, I was in the market for a cabin cruisers. The staff was friendly and it seemed like they periodically clean the boats since they all looked to be in fairly good shape. read more

Purchased a boat in July of 2015, Registration was from California. Jesse told me that it may take a while being that it is an out of state boat and transferring the title can take a while. Paid 26,750 cash, received a bill of sale as well as temp tags etc. September rolls around still no news on why we haven't received title and documents. Jesse was elusive a or non responsive at all. Finally did a title search on the boat and found out the title is still in a banks name in California. Owner is confirmed to be in jail on account of his 3rd DWI. Spoke with a game warden and he says there is an ongoing investigation in regards to McGoy's Toys and Jesse the owner. I dropped my boat off there July or August. Went to pick up boat in September as I didnt know there would be a storage fee. That was my bad for not knowing that. However, when I went to grab the boat in September they said it was sold. Its now March and I have yet to see a dime for the boat. There has been every excuse in the book given. I was literally told it must have been lost in the mail... If you have bought a boat after September from there and are waiting on a title please let me know and we can see about getting this taken care of with McGoys. read more

Bought a boat on 03/28/2015 and paid 40,000 cash for it. Didn't receive proper paperwork for boat originally which I wasn,t real concerned about at first, called and they sent me the temp tag. Now it is July 30 and I still haven't received the title for the boat or the trailer, 4 months later! I have had dozens of conversations with Jesse the owner and every time I have gotten the run around. Most recently " The title is in the mail" I'm not sure what he is trying to pull but I'm pretty sure it's not the way you are supposed to do business! BEWARE! read more

After long over a year deliberation I decided to put OUR experience in with McGoys in 2014. Our experience started in June of 2014. McGoys had exactly what we were looking for, at the time only 2 of the boats we had our eye on were located near Dallas. We lived 4 hours away, and decided to take a little road trip North to check out the boat. I had a little bit of buyers remorse or maybe a skeptical feeling in my gut. But, since everything ended up checking out we went ahead and decided to put a hold on the boat for them to get everything checked out and ready to go for us. A week later we took our 4 hour trip back to Dallas and purchased our boat in CASH for the FULL amount owed June 2014. I should of listened to the skeptical feeling in my gut, especially that day being rushed out of there, and saved myself the headache. The plates expired on the trailer in 2013 so I was anxious to get the new tags to avoid any issues that may arise. Of course I wanted the title too. I mean it was paid off and all. So I thought. July came, no title... I started making calls and sending emails at the end of July. Of course got the run around, basically being blown off and not taken seriously. August came, no title... More calls/emails to McGoy's. More run around. Emails and calls from me started to become more frequent every other day to weekly. Same with September, October, finally I gave up and started to do some digging. The internet is a wonderful tool by the way! I was able to find out the boat was NEVER PAID OFF and some other information. I could go on.... But, I am sure you may get the gist of what ended up happening. After speaking with some lawyers (who pretty much told me it was a waste of time trying) and involving the police when the original owner went up there. I ended up FINALLY getting the title almost exactly one year later and the previous owner was finally able to benefit from the sale. I am not sure if McGoys excuse was exactly true, since it seems there has been other similar incidents that have shown up happening several months after ours, after his so called "secretary" left. Just because everything ended up working out, does not mean the business is running legit or maybe organized. I don't exactly want to speculate. However, save yourself the headache, hassle, and aggravation. read more

When my husband and I decided to buy a boat, we werent quite sure where to start. So natrually I turned to Google and Boat Trader. On boat Trader we found a boat for sale at McGoys and went to go look at it. From the minute we stepped in teh door, we had a fantastic experience. We were greeted by Jesse and Paul, told them our budget and what we were looking for. They made us some recommendations on boats that were actually under budget and didnt show us anything over budget and try to negotiate down- which was much appreciated. After they showed us our options, they left us alone to sort of wander and evaluate all the boats on the lot. They were not pushy, which is what I would have expected based on my car buying experiences, etc. Being first time boat owners, we had a lot of questions and they were able to answer all of them honestly. They told us which boats we were considering that we should stay away from and which woudl be good solid decisions. After we made a decision, we decided to purchase a bayliner. We put down a deposit and scheduled a test drive- man, was that helpful. We have both driven other peoples boats before, but getting a feeling for your own boat makes a huge difference. Paul gave us a lot of helpful hints, showed us how to back it off the trailer, dock the boat, turn correctly, impact waves, etc. They were paitent and didnt rush the process at all. After we purchased the boat, they even met us out at Lake Ray Hubbard to deliver the boat, help us put it in the water, etc. They made the whole experience so easy, and so pleasent. I would recommend them to anyone and would absolutely go back for repeat business! read more

Numerous text messages, emails and phone calls to Jesse all went unanswered and on the rare occasion he did respond he lied about having the title processed. I took my boat to McGoys in October to sell through their consignment service. They sold the boat in October and I still haven't seen a dime 3 1/2 months later. I contacted my attorney and she is currently putting together a lawsuit. We've contacted the owner Jesse and he hasn't replied or cooperated through this process. These guys are crooks, stay away. read more

This company is operating a ponzi scheme. They sold our boat 6 months ago and we still haven't been paid for it. The person that bought the boat hasn't received title. If you see, Bill J (another review) has the same experience. We have attorneys and the police involved. We are alerting news outlets also so don't be surprised when this all comes out. read more

We consigned our boat with McGoy's in 2014 and in August 2015 went to pick it up because they had not sold it. When we arrived, they told us they had just sold it on July 15. We owed more than what they sold the boat for, so I paid the difference to my bank and McGoy's said they would send the check for the remainder to my bank that day. Now, a year later, my bank has called me because the amount that I paid last year they were using as a prepay and the money has run out. This is the first that I have found out that McGoy's did not pay off my loan. I now find out that the owner is in jail and that there are lots of folks out there in the same situation. I can't warn you enough to not purchase anything from this place!! Take a look at the better business bureau reports on this business and google the owner, Jesse Keene's name. He is known to falsely advertise boats, not deliver titles, not give money back to consignment owners, and doesn't refund deposits as promised. I put down a deposit on a boat, and was told by McGoy's Toys that it was the cleanest boat he'd ever seen. I was told if I drove to Texas and didn't like the boat that he would fully refund my deposit. When I arrived, I realized the pictures he posted online were old pictures of the boat. The boat was disgusting, faded, full of water, not able to run, and the trailer had been wrecked. I have been fighting for months to get my deposit money back, with no avail. Even though the owner put it in writing that I would get my deposit back, all I've received is a bunch of excuses. Let me state this was not an isolated occurrence. While I was there looking at the boat, 2 other families were screaming at Jesse Keene about false advertising. One couple put $10,000 deposit down on a boat and drove down from Illinois. They stated they had to take the messed up boat at that point, because they knew they weren't going to get their money back at that point. (They said they googled him when they had gone there the day before and encountered several other people screaming at the owner) read more

Do not consign your boat with them. They had mine for months and I never heard a peep - no offer, no phone calls, nothing! Finally, I took the boat from them and sold it within 2 weeks myself. They also did not keep it clean. I had to pay several hundred dollars to them for basically doing nothing. read more

The owner is nothing but a crook! We drove from Illinois for over 11 hours only to meet an angry customer who was waiting on him to show up or the police. Police showed and was helpful but we had stupidly wired the 18000 to the business. Jesse finally called us and agreed to meet us the next day. Didn't sleep as we just knew we had been scammed. Called our bank and his to report fraud. The next day Jesse finally met us at the business. My husband let him know that we just wanted our money returned and that the boat was not in same condition as we were promised. Told him if we take the boat we were not leaving without title. After lying and trying to weasel out of the deal, he finally got the sellers to meet us and sign over the title. He was supposed to wire $2000 back but we never received it. Found out in May that he was being charged with fraud and that our boat was listed as stolen. The sellers never received their payment for the boat but had signed over the title. Detective from LPD told me that we were better off than many others since we had title. Hope this man rots in prison. Was told he had over 25 counts of fraud against him. read more
