They came out to service and told us the sooting was caused by misplacement of logs over burner (they did the install), though the tech put on the work order it was caused by "log placement shifting". I ignored him at firstbecause I was intimidated just by looking at their website. It shows pictures of them repairing old style chimnies. Mine is a modern insert type. However, I decided to text a picture and ask if he repaired this type. Of course he does!! We scheduled appt. in the same week. The problem with ours was the pilot kept going off & on for several months then completely went off. Asher immediately found the problem. I think it took more time to unscrew the face plate. There was a loose wire causing all these problems. Asher explained why this happens. He only charged me for the service fee. Asher is honest & professional.
