I gave this place a chance. Never again. I had been having issues with a shift lock release mechanism not working - couldn't shift to drive, solenoid wasn't activating. I brought my car in and they said they could fix it - left it there for the day. When I got the car back they had replaced a shift position switch and I could hear the solenoid (sweet!) but then I also heard it when I shifted to reverse and I hit the break pedal. This should not have been happening. I got out and told them immediately- both the manager and tech said no that's normal that's how it always is. Hmmm no this is my car I drive it everyday I should now. They brushed me off - 1st red flag. Fast forward 2 months and i can't shift again. Great. I take it in, drop it off and they take a look. I got a call mid day that it's a ground wire and it will be $120. I'm like wtf you guys didn't fix it right the first time. But fine do it. When I pick up the car, as soon as I get in I see there's a cosmetic plastic cover missing in the shift assembly. I can see all the white plastic and interior parts. Not ok. I got out to tell them and show them and both the tech and the manager say we'll that's how we got the car. UNBELIEVABLE! I push back and they proceed to look AND find the piece. They they "fix" it an as the pictures show they half assed it. At this point I'm done. I drive away and just take the loss. That was two weeks ago. The shifter again doesn't work and I can't shift from park unless I push the shift lock release w a screwdriver. Never going back. Avoid this place. And will tell every single person I know to avoid this place. read more

Fast reliable honest service at about 1/3 the cost of the dealership. They even gave me a ride home and was willing to come pick me up but I had a friend do it. They even threw in a few items/labor for free because it wasn't on my quote but wanted to take care of it for me. Myself and a few friends use McKay's and we all love it- and if something isn't right with your work they bring it back in for free and take care of you immediately. So no complaints. I think I saw a gripe about racist.....blah blah. Kinda hard to claim that when the manager there is black, some of the repair guys are Hispanic. I'm white and I didn't get that vibe at all. This place is a complete sham. Took my Chevy Tahoe in for brakes and was told that all 4 brake pads AND rotors needed to be replaced for a quoted price of $1300 that included some faux "discount" of $300. Thankfully, my uncle is mechanically savvy and told me not let them touch my truck and just bring it to him. Turns out that only ONE brake pad and ONE rotor needed to be replaced and the total bill was less than $200!! Makes me sick to think about what I almost got conned into. read more

I brought my Toyota Tacoma with 140k miles in for service. I had been to the dealership and gotten a written estimate for needed repairs and maintenance. Their total was close to $4,000. McKay's estaminet was for just under $1,700. The work was done on-time and actually less than quoted. Now there is an unusual surprise! I was going to wait a month before writing this review to be sure the work held up. Last week I noticed my belts were starting to squeal. This morning I came back and told them about the belts. They took the truck right back and in 30 minutes it was back. "New belts are tight out of the box and can stretch a little after they are on. That's all." I asked what I owed him and he said, "Nothing. I want satisfied customers." Well he has one. I have not had a mechanic that I trust in over 10 years. Now I do. Recently finished putting together a project truck. New engine, new carb, new distributer. 1975 IH Scout II. After struggling for days to tube it, I gave up and Took it by for them to do the fine tuning. Took them no time to identify an issue with the carb. This was my suspicion also. After the carb rebuild, the truck is running like a top. Rate was fair, communication excellent. Joined the McKay's distribution list and got a nice coupon which they honored without issue. I recently visited there and got an oil change. I don't know what to say at this point except for the fact that I was very un-happy. But it all came afterwards when I called back to question the validity of the fluid checks & things of that nature. It was met by a rude person who ended the call by hanging up on me , no courtesies changed, wow. If anything, he needs to take a course in Ethnic diversities, or deal with an ass whoopin by someone, someday? You don't take someone's money one minute, then act like their bothering you when they call to inquire about services that should have been done, or to seemingly be a bit perturbed because he was questioned. I have yet to know if there's even oil in my car, and having that said, I would not recommend this facility to any Minorities. I saw Jason's tone, (the front desk person) which probably stems from something else rooted inside. Maybe not, but then again I feel as though I could have went to Walmart and got the same oil change that they did , which was $19.95 , on the sign, but ended up being $30.00. ***I went in this morning for a synthetic oil change. Service was a little slow. Paid $67.44. I always review my receipt when I get maintenance done. The receipt stated that 5w 30 was added to my vehicle. I know that my 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 takes 0w20. I went back inside and told the front desk guy what oil they put in my vehicle and said 5w30. I told him that my vehicle takes 0w20. The front desk guy asked the technician who worked on my car and said that he replaced my oil with 5w30. The front desk guy said that they will change the oil. When I asked if the oil filter would be changed as well he said no. The filter only catches particles in the oil. I know that when you turn off the vehicle, some oil remains inside the oil filter (there is a valve inside the oil filter that closes when the car is turned off). I asked the technician if they will change the oil filter and stated they will do their best to clean it. The technician ended up installing a new oil filter, but it was wrapped in plastic. It looked like one of those cheap oil filters they use for basic oil changes. The whole oil change took about 10 minutes. I observed the technician during the whole service and I did not witness the technician empty the 5w30 oil.. When it was time to add the new oil (0w 20), the technician grabbed a cut out container and went to the back to grab oil. (The first oil change I witnessed the tech use a hose pump to dispense the 5w30. I was thinking they would have a hose for synthetic oil available within reach. There were other hoses but did not use them for the second oil change.) Not sure if new oil was poured in since the container was white. I received my keys and the technician reassured me that oil and Oil filter was changed. 1. Wrong oil weight was used. 2. Oil filter was not going to be changed but cleaned the best they could. (I paid $67.44 for an oil change that was done and you can't replace the oil filter)..eventually it was changed but was wrapped in plastic. It looked like one of those cheap oil filters you get with a basic oil change. Synthetic oil filters should be changed every 5k miles. Maybe 6k. A lot of shop use cheap oil filters for basic oil changes (conventional oil) that are changed ever 3k miles. read more

I took my daughter's Jeep there because it was vibrating under acceleration and making a chirping noise. I told them I thought it was a u-joint, they said they would "check it out" and call me. They did call me that afternoon and said it was the front control arms, track bar, and a tie rod end: $3,100.00! I asked him if he checked the u-joints, he said yes an they were fine. I decided to get a second opinion and paid them for putting 1 bolt in the rear suspension: $91.00... Turns out the jeep had a bad u-joint, $12.00 part fixed the problem. These guys had to know the problem but thought they would make a little off me! Do not take your car there unless you want to be ripped-off. read more

The fastest oil change ever. While I was waiting (about 25-30), I remembered I also needed an alignment. Or so I thought I did. The mechanic kindly explained what the real problem was. Awesome customer service! I went to Firestone first but they were extremely busy. I then called McKay's at 4:45pm and was about 13 minutes away, knowing that they closed at 5:00pm. The gentleman advised that he would wait for me. I arrived at 5:05pm due to traffic being terrible. He greeted me in a friendly manner and started on my inspection right away. Jason who is the manager or something quoted me a price when i towed my car he later told it was 200.00 more. I told him I wasn't going to pay his overcharge price he he ask me what price I told him 285.00. When I picked up the car not seeing what price he put in he charged me 385.00 and placed extra things he didn"t do on invoice. I'm am fighting the 100.00 with my bank don't ever go to these people. they are crooks liars and thieves. read more
