Honest Review...My family and I were recommended to McKay's from two friends that have used their services in the past - and had positive experiences. Let me tell you, Victoria was the best! She was kind, compassionate, and took time with us to answer all of our questions. This was a very difficult time for us loosing my mother, but I knew we and my mom was in the best hands. Horrible customer service, lack of empathy, compassion, and soulless management from the Meridian parkway office. The encounter my family and I had with this mortuary staff is the most heartbreaking experience once could have in the already tragic times. WISH I COULD LEAVE NEGATIVE STARS ! I WILL NEVER not only use this company again, but I also will NEVER recommend this company to anyone. I have received better customer service from my local McDonald's. The encounter that my family and I had with an employee by the name of "EMILY A. WELTE" was the most horrific and indescribable experience one could ever have while grieving the loss of a loved one. The lack of knowledge, respect, and integrity given to my family from not only Emily but the McKay's staff as a whole has made an already hurtful experience a total nightmare. The process of losing a loved one is never easy as we know .. but in times like this we should be able to ease our mind with knowing our loved one's remains are in the best hands possible. This process has been the total opposite, literally up until we picked up my grandfathers ashes. My family added in our contract a purchase of necklaces with my grandfathers remains for the grandchildren and children. The McKay's never delivered our necklaces- Emily never mentioned what happened with our purchase & couldn't tell us how the remains never made it into our necklaces. After receiving the worst customer service "Emily" also tells us we could "give her some ashes" or "bring back" my grandfather and she'll make sure she puts them in after the necklaces arrive. Emily also had the audacity to state that she "Has done SO MUCH for our family , more than she should have". This is just the TIP OF THE ICEBERG of this situation and it is beyond hurtful because my family has not only given the McKay's business but we've respected each employee with the upmost dignity and respect.. I want to thank Bryan for not getting me the paperwork when he said he would. I also want to thank him for not returning my calls as well. Thank goodness I found out about what type of company I don't want to work with when trying to plan for a future cremation. It was so much easier to use Tulip for cremation versus trying to use McKays. It makes such a difference working with someone who appreciates your business versus trying to work with someone who is non-responsive. FOLLOW-UP: Your response is a lame excuse and had Bryan called me back I could have addressed the problem and had her son sign the paperwork. Instead, he did not call me to let me know. I have to say that I have worked with several mortuaries and being in the business it can be a very difficult time for everyone. I was having a really bad day and I needed to get a document from Mc Kay's and when I called Domonique answered the phone and was pleasant. I was already having a terrible day and when I called her cheerful, professional and helpful attitude made me feel relaxed and that I was going to be taken care of. My husband passed day after Mother's Day and our family has chosen the McKay's to service my husband's funeral. I'm truly blessed for Ms. Claudette Simpson taking real good care of my husband. She did an amazing job of having my husband look so handsome and natural. I am grateful for the wonderful service and to have a beautiful celebration of life for husband. I am writing this review because McKay's did an excellent job by servicing me. My mother, Betty Williams, passed away on March 20, 2018. This was unexpected. A close family friend recommended McKay's because he was known for knowing the community in the Inland Empire. So, I went for it. When I contacted them a friendly employee, Claudette Simpson, and Ana (I forgot her last name) took very well care of me. Mrs. Claudette told me prior to my arrival the steps I would proceed when going through a financial process. It was easy and took a lot of burden off of me. Well, to make a long story short, my mother was cremated and I was approved for a burial expenses plan. The plan was easy monthly payments that I could fit in my budget. Yet, by the grace of God I was able to pay off the bill prior to my departure from the state of California back to Florida. You get what you pay for here,the problem is you don't know what you pay for! A price was agreed upon,within an hour of leaving the premises the owner was calling to say the price has changed it's going to be $1,000.00 more because of a weight issue.Nothing was in the contract.The owner acted like extra charges should not be in the contract and we were nuts for asking! There was a small sign in front of the location that mentions extra charges re weight.So the owner say it doesn't have to be in the contract. The owner was very rude and unprofessional.She made promises that were not kept,in this situation you don't have much of a choice.Never will I use this company again,because unfortunately we will need to use this service in the future and I would never recommend them to ANYONE. We were told to come in at a certain time,we were there and then was told they weren't ready for us,we spoke to them within fifteen minutes of the time,they do not communicate well.Very dissapointed in this company. read more

I am writing this review from the bottom of my heart my wife passed away suddenly from a catastrophic stroke with out warning at the age of 38 she leaves behind a husband and four adolescent boys, with my world abruptly turned upside down I truly felt helpless and completely compromised the last thing in the world I could do was plan a funeral for the mother of my children and the love of my life. A friend recommended I call McKay's family after care mortuaries when I called I spoke with the owner who comforted me right off the back she set a consultation with her receptionist who express the same compassion for me and my family, Claudette who took care of my wife final arrangement was amazing she treaded my wife my self and my family with the highest of dignity. through the viewing the funeral service as well as the repass she was there coordinating and directing everything which in hindsight was exactly what we needed. no one should have to go through the sorrow me and family is going through but unfortunately its the harsh reality of life aim just grateful McKay's mortuary was there for us and I will for ever be thankful... read more

If i could give this business no stars I would. I would not recommend this aftercare funeral service to my worst enemy. My close friend passed away and the family chose this service to carry out her final arrangements. The opportunity of my friends mother to see her daughter before she was cremated was robbed from her due to the unprofessional ism of this establishment. The owner Mrs. Mckay was never in the office and she is the only person in charge of making decisions. There is nobody put in place to make necessary decisions in her absence. You better make sure every single thing you want is done the very first time you meet and make arrangements because after that you miss the opportunity to place important factors missed before. When there are deaths emotions are high people aren't thinking clearly so it takes a certain level of expertise to help deal with people in those situations. Myself and my cousin paid out of our own pocket for a viewing because the family did not have the money for it. In addition since she had passed not one single person in her family identified or viewed her body due to delays with the mortuary. Her memorial service was on a friday so we wanted to view her before the service if possible. The mortuary had her body two weeks prior to all of this. The week of her memorial we paid on a Wednesday for the viewing and were told we could see her the next daywhich was thurday and friday the latest the day of her service. Once we paid the extra money we were told they would start the embalming process asap. When we called back the next day the embalming had never been started and we were then told we would be able to see her that following monday a whole weekend after her funeral service. The mother was very emotional we tried to help her through it as much as possible we asked if there was a way the embalming could be expedited due to the circumstances. We were told yes but the owner Mrs. Mckay was the only one who had the authority to do so. We got the run around for the next two days because she was never available or in the office. Once friday came it was told to us we would have to receive a refund because they could not deliver on the promise. Had they kept their word and started the embalming immediately like they said this would not have happened. The opportunity to say a final goodbye is priceless so although we were refunded our money the mother will never have the chance to see her daughter one last time. No one in her family saw her or has seen her since she has passed and this is unheard of. especially being that the mortuary said she was in perfect condition to be viewed all she needed was embalming.
