They have overcharged me and when I contacted them to question their charges, all they could respond with is that their vehicle gps log shows that their vehicle was parked outside my house for 2.5 hours. Now they are threatening to sue me over less than $600. What a joke. Don't use them! read more

Their support services are among the worst I've ever experienced. They initially accused us of improper use, and after several service calls discovered a faulty sensor. On our next routine service, the elevator stopped working entirely and they charged me to return to fix it! I've since discovered that the battery backup had failed, but our McKinley service technician didn't figure that out. When I've asked for help from the company they have been rude and accusatory. I wish the owner was aware of his company's poor customer service. I'm so excited that I've found a new company to service our McKinley elevator. read more

I am so impressed with this company! They went out of their way to make sure the elevator was up and running for a visit from a friend of mine from out of town who is disabled. The delays we had were from the contractors not completing items the correct way and then they had to be redone, Travis went out of his way to make sure his men were there and the elevator was operational before her visit. The technicians showed up on time, were very knowledgeable and efficient in conducting their work and were very pleasant to work with. Before leaving, they spent several minutes reminding me of the safety features and emergency release procedures for the elevator. All in all it was a worthwhile maintenance visit. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! We had the first pneumatic elevator installed in Scottsdale, AZ and they dropped it during installation due to a new piece of equipment THEY were trying to use. It has never worked more than a month at a time. They replaced the door and have a tried a couple of things with nothing that seems to fix our issue. These elevators are known to be maintenance free yet ours has never worked more than a few weeks at a time which is 100% a McKinley issue. We have called and called and called trying to get help with little to no repsonse. 6 months later they sent someone out and the elevator was so slow and then, as usual, stopped working again. We are now going on two years with with a continued battle. The story continues with no resolve and now have a $90K elevator that doesn't work and a company that doesn't care. We are looking for anyone else that can fix our issue because I do not want anyone this dishonest in my house. DO NOT USE THEM. read more

Elevator not working. They came and said that because the company who made the elevator is out of business. They can't get parts. So we need to replace the elevator for $6k. The next repair company said that it's obviously just safety switch because the error code tells him that. No parts necessary. Just a reset the safety switch and it worked. read more

I just phoned the office in Irvine to discuss the possibility of putting in a Pneumatic Elevator at a home in Irvine. We are representing an elderly couple that is looking to purchase a home in Lake Forest but before they do they need to make sure that an elevator can be installed. I spoke with Mike and was informed that "to be completely honest, we are so busy right now I can't go out to a home that "may" need an elevator installed". This is absolutely ridiculous. So your "Sales" person expects people to buy a 900k home and then find out if the elevator can be installed. This is awful customer service. McKinley elevator has been servicing the porch lift at our clubhouse for over 5 years. Phone calls are answered promptly and service is scheduled appropriately. Their technicians arrive on time or early for appointments. Mostly we only need preventative maintenance. But when repairs are needed, necessary parts are ordered and arrive in a reasonable amount of time. Repairs are thorough. Highly recommend their services. read more

We chose Mckinley over other elevator companies to install a new elevator in a residential unit about 2 years ago based on our general contractor's recommendation. Since the installation, there have been multiple equipment issues, replacements of outdated parts (yes in a brand new elevator!), and very expensive service calls to fix a) excessive noise, b) adjustments to interior sliding doors, c) complete operational failures. For a brand new elevator in brand new construction, I expected a lot better reliability, service, and warranty. read more

Rip off artists. My mother, who is elderly had a chair installed by McKinley that had -0- issues for 8 years. 18 months ago, it died. They replaced the batteries, charging her over $400 in the process ($295 is the service call alone). Then, less than 18 months later, it died again. This time, they charged her over $700 to replace both the batteries and charger. Praying the on the elderly to take advantage of them is NO way to run a business. Terrible! I highly recommend you go elsewhere. If not, you can expect to be taken FULL advantage of. NO WAY will we be making another service call 18 months from now to McKinley. read more

I used McKinley to service my home elevator for 20 years. Early on, there were no other choices. There are other options now and I wish I had known sooner. At this point I would recommend McKinley only as a last resort. McKinley's technicians are knowledgeable and they did show up when ever they said they would. That is the good news. The bad news is that the company is crooked all the way up to senior management and they will try to oversell you. Many years ago a couple of technicians confided in me that McKinley senior management pushes them to up-sell customers. Thus, a few years ago when a capacitor failed on my elevator, McKinley attempted to sell me an entire new motor for several thousand dollars. I pushed back and they replaced the capacitor for a couple hundred. I once asked a rep over the phone how often I should get preventative maintenance done. His first answer was once every 6-12 months but then he just kept talking all the way down to once every month. Throw a blanket over the poor guy! About 3 years ago I had a tech come out to do basic preventive maintenance on a functioning elevator. He spent 4 hours on what should have been a one hour job and the elevator broke within minutes of him leaving. The elevator broke earlier this year with my house in Escrow to sell. The McKinley tech fixed a very simple problem in minutes but then proceeded to do a general inspection. At the end of the inspection he turned off the elevator as unsafe and McKinley sent me a bid for $22k to rebuild all the mechanical. The tech knew I was in Escrow because my realtor let him into the house. This was too obvious and too much! I brought out a tech from another company. He turned on the elevator, checked it out and said it was fine. I had my realtor play a voicemail from the McKinley tech where he explained why he shut down the elevator. The other tech specifically checked those items and still concluded that the elevator was safe to use. Years ago McKinley had a monopoly on home elevator repair in South Orange County. I lived with their dishonesty because I had no choice. You definitely have other choices now and you definitely should try them first. read more

I purchased 2 elevators at the same time from McKinley; one for my home and one for my guesthouse, and believe me it was a disaster. I told them, at the time, that my wife had cancer and we needed for them to keep their installation timeline for completion of the elevator at the main house. The delays were continuous and the communication with Mark at McKinley Elevator Corporation was nonexistent most of the time. The delays stretched into weeks because of some job they were on in Las Vegas and my wife went to the hospital for three weeks while we waited. Finally, we got a belated date for the McKinley people to install the elevator only to be told a few days later that it would be several more weeks due to a delay on another job. Mark was never talking to my contractor, and did not answer his many emails and calls. Please believe me when I say that communication between this company and your contractor will be non-existant. You can also be sure, however, that McKinley wants to be paid in advance for the work that never seems to get completed. Finally, the City Elevator Inspector came for the inspection, many weeks after the McKinley scheduled completion time, but the McKinley field inspector was a no-show. When I finally got Mark on the phone that day he told me it would be another week of delays because he did not have the workers to assign to the inspection. Finally, the elevator was inspected and worked.....for 24 hours before it quit. I called to have maintenance only to be told that, again, a worker would only be available after a 2 day delay. The elevator was "fixed" two days later and worked for about 10 days. When I called for maintenance, I was told that the cost would be $675 per hour since it was a Saturday. The Warranty is NO GOOD on weekends. Now I am waiting for the 3rd fix on this elevator. Either it is the product that they recommended (wonder why that product?) or they just don't know how to install elevators. Time to write to the Contracting and Licensing Board and register my story with the hope that they will be investigated. Please believe me when I caution you against using this company for any elevator you might be thinking of installing. They don't have a clue how to install it or what the words ethics and responsibility mean. In case you are wondering, the elevator was a Waupaca. Robert Nichols read more

They took the time to do not only the requested repair, but did a full safety check and maintenance.
