So I was just breezing through some reviews and noticed that I've never reviewed Mckinnon's Market. So here's a quick overview of this fabulous small butchery. I've actually been a customer at McKinnon's going back all the way to the 80s. Back in the day my dad and I used to drive over to Everett and get truckloads full of meats for our barbecues. We roll up with a truck loaded up with ice. We used to purchase about 15 pork roasts 50 to 100 pounds of hamburg, same for chicken wings, sausages etc. as we used to have huge Fourth of July parties with approximately 400 people at our house and we purchased all the meats here. Always a good experience, always good quality never any negativity at this store. Onto the present I still currently stop in a couple times a month to pick up a porterhouse or some of their specialty marinated meats. They also have killer homemade deli roast beef behind the counter for sandwiches. As most markets, they have the miscellaneous, a little vegetable section, some dry goods, etc., etc. but I still consider this a butchery. They have fabulous meats, chickens etc. go by you might get lucky with a special. There's about 8 or 10 offstreet parking spots so hopefully you get lucky and get one. If not, wait about five minutes circle the block and one will open up. FYI, parking on Broadway you do need to pay the meter. The staff here are either seasoned veterans or high school kids all which are very respectful and helpful. Check them out for your next barbecue or if you're just in the market for a protein, you'll probably be a customer for life. read more

The best experience I can provide is I was shopping for a friend and found 4 hamburger patties for $1.19. Miss marked obviously, but my point is you can always get a great find if you know where to look. The packaged fruit, huge portions for the price. My only negative is the take out... Hit or miss. marinated chicken was way over marinated. It was disgusting. The chicken was a grayish color all the way through. Couldn't even taste the chicken when it was cooked. That's all you could taste was the marinated sauce. I mean I never seen anything like this when something old it shouldn't be sold. read more

The store is disgusting, old food outdated on a regular basis on all shelves from gray meat boxed foods. I don't think the chicken is chicken it's striated probaly rooster. Customer service young women at the registers on their phones ignoring 2 huge lines but an abundance of arrogance and obnoxiousness. More the half the times shelves arent stocked only with old food. Prices well over priced everything, more than any supermarket. Deli service, there isnt any at least right away. Management a woman in the way berrading employees in front of customers. Disgusting store. If u like mckinnons i suggest wilmington store. Night and day customer service product and cleanliness. Stay away from everett unless you want to be poisoned.​ read more

This is our go-to for freshly butchered meats. It's not a full on grocery store, so it's a place to go for your full shopping list (paper products, cleaning things, etc) but it's worth it for the variety of proteins. Staff is very friendly and the butchers will take special orders if you call. read more

I am a frequent shopper at McKinnon's in Danvers. Never have I purchased a product that is not fresh. The assortment of meats and deli items are impressive and the quality is exce. The fresh produce center is always clean and the vegetables and fruit are delish. Love thst they carry Richardsons Milk too! read more

While I don't get here as often as I once did in a previous life, McKinnon's is still there when I need it and they never, ever disappoint. Besides opining for wider aisles and maybe another cashier on a busy weekend afternoon, everything about Ye Olde Butcher Shop is what you'd want in a business. Throwing a weekend BBQ and in need of a special cut of beef brisket to feed 25 people? No problem, just talk to one of the friendly butchers who come out of the back and offer up assistance. When I go to McKinnons its usually for one reason, to STOCK UP. Nothing like having 5 lbs of aaaallll of your favorite meats on hand in your freezer for when you're looking to make that next delicious meal. In fact, buying in bulk here tends to be a little cheaper, especially in the ground beef section. Take a gander at the produce on the left as you walk in the door because there is usually some type of deal to be found. Then look to your right and you've got a vast selection of piggy to cater to your every need. Forget the fridge section in the back of the store unless you're doing any sort of shopping beyond the meat here. Turn the corner immediately after the oinker section and you'll discover even more pork and then further down, every cut of beef your little, artery clogged heart could ever dream of. I've seen short ribs here for less than $6/lb which you rarely find in the big box grocers. Make a quick stop to say hello to your neighborhood butcher at the deli counter and pick up some garlic cheese, made on site. Ah hell, pick up a lot more than that.....but don't forget the cheese! Finally, you make your way to the other side and discover the seafood and chicken aisle. I like to stock up on clam strips here, I know it's somewhat sacrilege in New England but Howard Johnson's suckered me in as a little kid and seeing packages for less than $3 for a quick, weeknight meal can't be passed up. I have purchased a few fish fillets but it's tough to find much under the $10 price point in this section so I tend to skip over most of it. Did you save room in your basket or even have the muscles to continue shopping in the chicken area? Wings are your best bet here in bulk, along with chicken thighs which are a superior meat on a summertime grill over breasts. This place is a good neighborhood grocery market. On 5 occasions in 2 years, I had to return meat because it didn't smell right or was slimy. Once I can see, anything more than that means something else is going on. The prices are not cheap either. The staff is always understanding and give me a refund with no problems. read more

Everyone who lives near here goes to and loves McKinnons .......parking sucks....they have a small lot and the street parking is sparse......The McKinnons in Everett is WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY better than the one in Somerville. I would not give any stars to the Somerville location. McKinnons has very nice pre-cut veggies, potatoes, lettuce, string beans, portabella, onions.........the basics. Yet very cheap..... Skip the packaged groceries, like rice pilaf or shake n bake........those prices are jacked up..... the deli is awesome with a ton of sales and their prices coming in at more than 20% off Supermarkets retail.......they have nice Italian scali bread.everything to make an awesome sandwich... K what is the best thing here. Their meat! Oh my goodness.......awesome pre marinated chicken/pork, there is pork chops, steak, rabbit, duck ,fish, ribs, beef, wings...EVERYTHING......every cut, ready for you ...did I mention the word cheap yet? I love the pre-marinated meats...after I cook them I cut up left overs and they are awesome in salads! The other awesome thing here is their fresh grated cheese, chicken/tuna/egg/potato salad......they have pre-made platters like spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, 5 layer bean dip........ I do think you have to hit up a Shaws/Whole foods in addition...but that is just how regular Everettans do it. They always make the extra stop to the meat shop....and now I know why...........please do yourself a favor....do not go to the Somerville one...I couldn't handle being in there one second...The smell was vile..there were flies everywhere.....I could go on.... I've wasted a lot of money at this place, thinking that meat is sometimes a gamble. Sometimes it's tough and it's no one's fault. Except here. Bought 3-4 pounds of short ribs here. All fat.. Very tough and it wasn't the cooking method (braised over low heat for hours). Prior to that, I spent $70+ on a prime rib and it was awful. I lived across the Stree from McKinnons for about 20 years and for years wouldnt shop there because of "things Ive heard", but then finally gave in & now that I have moved am truly aware of how great McKinnons is.. I miss the convenience of running across the street... and to go there to find parking is a hassle, I know now why it was always soo conveinent... The deals on meats are great, stay away from grocery store ish stuff (too overpriced) and stay far away from all the marinated things (they are the meat that is past expiration & covered in sauce to cover discoloration - heard that from an inside source)... read more

McKinnon's is a cool market to grab some marinated meat for grilling and also a convenient (parking lot notwithstanding) place to grab staples. A nice little neighborhood grocery store. Cons: Small, Parking is super tight, the place smells like death when you walk in (like Roxy's in Quincy but not nearly as bad) but my number one gripe about this place is the cashiers are super rude sixteen year old girls with no customer service skills whatsoever. read more

I have only been to McKinnon's twice over the years but I have been amazed at their prices both times. Recently, I went there because the $8.99 lamb chops at Market Basket were still too much for my wallet to handle. I was having a dinner party for 11 and needed inexpensive chops pronto. Lo and behold, McKinnnon's had them for $3.99 a pound. I saved a fortune and my guests lucked out since I was able to afford more than one lamb chop per person at that price. :) McKinnon's has a small but good selection of prepared and marinated foods too. Their steak tips are delish and the chicken, broccoli, and ziti tasted homemade. They also have basic groceries and produce if you only want to make one stop. The cashier was friendly and I was in and out of there in 3 minutes! Street (metered) parking can be tough on weekends or after work, but I just noticed they have a parking lot on the side! read more

This place looks terrible. You'll drive by and think, "people by food from there?" Step on it and see why. This place not only has the best selection of meats for grilling, cooking or stewing, but also some of the best cuts of those meats as well. Wow, this place has everything. AMAZING deals on chicken. Excellent steak tips. Fresher produce than my local supermarket. Seriously, S&S, you need to step it up. I stocked up here last weekend for a BBQ and I was shocked at how little I spent for the amount (and quality) of food I got. McKinnon's is great for a BBQ or feeding a crowd on a budget. I come here for family sized packs of chicken parts (sometimes on sale for 88 cents a pound; stock me up!), the different flavors of steak and turkey tips, and of course those delicious Chinese sausages! They also have produce, dairy, grocery, and deli areas, but we come just for the meats. Worth a trip for a party or getting your freezer filled! This is a great little meat market, always busy so gotta figure the meat is fresh. Parking sucks, but thats the only drawback. Great deals on some tasty steaks and fixings. The deli guys are always attentive and helpful. The french bread is my favorite, although it is delivered mid-morning so don't get there too early. The in-store mac salad is a bit heavy on the mayo. Parking can be tough, so look around if nothing in the lot is available. The clientele is a bit diverse. A woman was at the deli counter who was still in her pajamas and hadn't brushed her teeth or hair in days. read more

Love McKinnon's meats! I order meat from McKinnon's every Christmas and I know it'll be fresh and first quality, because they slaughter the day you need it. What a great experience.I went there for the first time today after hearing about it since I moved here in Sept. It brought me back to growing up in NYC where the meat markets are mostly run by Italians,me being half.It's a great store with good band for the buck.not too crowded and a wide selection of Meats and fish.they also have those odds and ends you need in the house,toilet paper and other goods.It was like going back to my childhood.listening to the staff talk. Definatly try the tremendous selection of Pre-Seasoned Meats and Fish.Good for when you don' want to spend time to prep a dinner or any meal for that matter. My boyfriend lives around the corner from here so we frequent McKinnon's for our cold cuts as well as dinner meats. The prices are amazing! Check out their marinated meats...they have all kinds of yummy marinades to choose from (the Honey BBQ pork tips are DELICIOUS). Worth checking out for the sales alone. One time we got snow crab leg clusters for under $3 per pound! I just wish there was one of these in my neighborhood! read more

I have visited the store on broadway Everett ma many times. In the last few years things have changed. I have been telling them for a long time that their chicken taste like turkey. My friends and relatives have said the same. The hamburger use to taste good but even the 80% taste like a filler has been added. Actually taste crunchy things in it. McKinnons in Everett is by far the best McKinnons out there.. Originally I went to the Somerville McKinnons, bought some steak tips, and brought them home to discover that they smelled DISGUSTING.. so I bring the package to the Everett store to return them, only to find out that the Somerville McKinnons and Everett McKinnons are two DIFFERENT companies. After learning this, I tried the Everett location and not only was the meat MUCH better, the whole store in general is much CLEANER and the staff is much more friendly and willing to help you find something and tell you exactly how to cook anything. I highly recommend this store to anyone having a cookout and needing to buy a large amount of quality meat at a great deal. Also, I've heard that the McKinnons in Everett recently opened another location in Salem NH which is supposedly 10 times the size of Everett, so I will have to make a trip North soon to check it out! read more

McKinnon's is the BEST butcher shop in the whole USA! Their steak tips are sooooo good!!! (and very reasonably priced). I'm a flight attendant and was based in Boston for 5yrs. Now that I live in NYC, every time I get a Boston layover I hire a cab to take me there with an empty cooler and fill it up with those scrumptious little morsels and bring them back to NYC. They are packaged really tight too for transporting or storing in the freezer. I'm the hit of every BBQ in NYC now because of McKinnon's Steak Tips! read more

This market is not connected to the one in Davis Square. It is very clean and well organized. They have a huge selection of different kinds and cuts of meat. This market is the best one in my neighborhood, otherwise it's takes a trip down Revere Beach Parkway to find a decent place to buy meat. If you need meat go here. read more

Now that I get my meat from McKinnon's, I refuse to buy meat anywhere else. There is NO WAY that major meat markets will be getting my money again! McKinnon's has a wonderful family staff that are always willing to go above and beyond to speak with you about their selections. They buy seasonally, and so you need to know what you're looking for and you can't always expect them to be in stock. I drive by every morning and see the deliveries of fresh goods and you can taste the difference. Meat prices are fantastic but stay away from their other 'essential' goods which are overpriced, such as their bell peppers and mixin's. Both my parents and myself are fans of Mckinnons in Everett. HOWEVER, we (well my parents who are elderly) had a problem recently with the Marinated Turkey Tips. My mom who was raving about them as they had eaten them before, convinced me to try one as i was picking up my little boy at their house after school. Well, i bit into it and it had like a funny taste. So at first i thought maybe it was just me or my taste buds. But, after my Mother and Father started to eat them, they started making faces and saying they tasted bad or SOUR? Couldn't put our finger on whether it was the turkey and it was BAD OR the marinated juices were Sour or Bad? They ended up throwing the whole Pan away. What a shame and waste of their Money. They had another bag of them in the Freezer which i promptly told them to Return to the Everett Market where they bought them and GET A REFUND. A few days later I asked them about the frozen bag of Tips and if they returned them, they said NO, we just THREW THEM OUT! I told them, the people who work there and own it are pretty nice and would of refunded their money for Both bags, or the very least the one Frozen Bag they still had, but they are elderly and did not feel like driving back to Everett. What a waste of their MONEY. $16.00 and change down the drain for the two bags. What a shame. I told her I would of brought the one bag back, but they declined? So, just to let you know, UNFORTUNATELY YOU CAN OCCASIONALLY get a bad piece of meat there. MOST OF IT IS WONDERFUL, BUT IT DOES HAPPEN SOMETIMES. We stop in here once a week to stock up on great deals on Chicken, fish, and amazing streaks. Everything is always super fresh. The store is well laid out and each item is very easy to find. They also have an amazing deli counter with good deals on cold cuts. They also do a yummy stuffed haddock, already prepared chicken and beef as well. Also they often have great deals on mussels and clams. Service is always very nice too. read more

McKinnons's has always had quality meats at unbeatable prices. The last couple of years I think the quality and freshness of the meat hasn't been consistent. Sometimes the chicken I buy spoils within a couple days before the sell by date. And the marinated steak tips tend to be a little more fatty.
