First experience ever at this hospital. Our two year old slammed his hand in the door and fractured his finger, staff was amazing with him! The doctor, X-ray tech, nurses all handled him with such care and compassion, he remained calm through the whole experience which is something for such a little guy. I was so thankful for the staff, this was our first ER go with a kid and I was already freaking out and hurting for my baby and they were so great. I hope we never have to go back but if we do I hope our experience is this wonderful again. read more

Average wait time 2hours+ I was here Monday morning from 10am until 2:48pm in the lobby. 28 weeks pregnant when I'm sure you're supposed to go straight to baby delivery floor when that far in pregnancy. Never seen a doctor. Never again will I come here. read more

Sadly, this is one of the most poorly managed hospitals I have encountered. Our experience with the Sleep Center was horrendous. There is no way I would come here for any other care. Beaumont is hands down the facility to go to in the area for any health care needs. read more

What a horrible den of chaos. Walked in at 4:40pm per instructions from my dr that if my pain worsened to go straight there. I check in to be seen and they laugh when I ask what is the wait looking like cos I am hurting quite a bit. The girl actually counted on her fingers, said I would be taken back around 11pm maybe 11:30 and hopefully home "by 4am". Next to me a man vomited in a bag, a homeless woman was moaning, the room was FULL and the intake folks are online shopping on target.com - since McLaren took over the ALREADY rundown hell hole of Mt Clemens General it has become even worse. I hope no one, including myself, is badly injured and taken to McLaren (you see, they wheeled an old man from the ambulance and just parked the gurney OUTSIDE OF THE WAITING ROOM DOORS and he looked 100% worse than most of us) read more

Recently visited ER for a ruptured ovarian cyst. Every team member went above and beyond my expectations and was very pleasant, respectful and informative. The department was very thorough and I was confident when I was discharged to go home, I received exceptional health care. Also, I visited same ER 7 years ago, (after another local ER treated me for a sinus infection when I clearly told them I was short of breath) I was diagnosed by Mclaren Macomb with a pulmonary embolism and not only did Mclaren save my life but also my unborn child's life! I am forever thankful for the entire team of ER doctors, nurses and entire staff at this hospital. Yes, it's a little dated but that does not matter to me because I received quality care, today, my son and I are living a beautiful life. Thank You Mclaren Macomb! read more

A friend of mine came here many times in the past and she was satisfied with the care. I don't think anyone wants to come to the hospital, obviously and I also think people are much more likely to complain in general than write glowing reviews. I recently took my Aunt here and we were seen immediately at the ER and the staff was reasonably attentive and careful. My only complaint is that when she asked for a bed pan, it took a while, but I do understand other situations with other patients can be more pressing. Overall, I think they give pretty good care. The doctor was very cordial, explained things very clearly and ordered pain meds as soon as the tests results returned. I sat in ER for five hours and I didn't see anything but good attention to patients, I wouldn't hesitate to come here anytime myself if needed. read more

I was not impressed with my first time experience at this hospital. First of all, I needed to come a couple days early for blood work. The girl that drew my blood DID NOT wear gloves--which is a big no no. The day of surgery, the nurse did not use lidocaine to numb my hand before putting IV in. I asked about this and was told "we don't do that!" I was poked and jammed 3 times to get the IV in, and it would have been nice to be numbed ahead of time. Just not impressed! read more

Had a procedure at McLaren last week. I was very pleasantly surprised with my experience. From the initial contact from the pre-surgical nurse, to the pre-surgical EKG, to checking in on the day of surgery and every step in between, the staff at McLaren proved to be courteous, professional, compassionate, and very patient oriented. The facility itself is very clean and modern. Great parking, pharmacy and cafeteria. This place is miles ahead of Beaumont (both Troy and Royal Oak are too big and impersonal), Henry Ford Macomb (was better as St. Joe's). I would not hesitate to recommend McLaren to friends or family members who needed a good local hospital. Kudos to the McLaren team! read more

Terrible ER staff Five hours no pain meds. Spoke with Dr. once and he didn't know was going on. I will just go to Henry Ford from now on

My father was in Mt Clemens General for a Stroke years ago and died there. The one physician was rude and screaming at me, because I asked her to tell me how he was doing because my mother who was 81 at the time couldn't understand and relay what was being told to her. She yelled at me and told me my mother did so understand and wasn't senile. But I never said my mother was senile, just that she couldn't remember what to tell me. So in front of this doctor I had my mother tell me back what she had heard from the doctor, but my mother couldn't. The doctor never admitted she was wrong. Also a nurse hung a bag of potassium that I questioned and later came in to take the bag away after some went into my father. Then not long after my father had peaked T waves on his ekg. I questioned as to whether my day was going septic after his trach surgery but the attending doctor said no he's ready to be transferred to Select Care. He was jaundiced looking but when I questioned it, they denied anything was wrong. Then his blood pressure was dropping and they couldn't keep it up with dopamine or levo. They wanted to know if at the last minute we wanted to try dialysis. At that point, his pressure would have bottomed out. He never would have made it. They waited too long. I asked them days before if he was septic. I know he probably didn't clear the anesthesia after trach surgery. He was on a vent. I tell you, I wouldn't send a dog to this hospital, let alone a human being. Lots of denials, dishonest and rude doctors. My brother in law happened to bring his cell phone into the hospital to make a call in an area there were no patients and this doctor started screaming at him to put it away, doesn't he know he can't use a cell phone in a hospital. Please do not go to this hospital if you can go anywhere else. It is absolutely horrible!!!!! I rate it a big fat zero!!!! read more

I was brought into the hospital and two blood pressure cuffs were placed on each arm, tight enough to inflict pain... After that I was stuck with 2 needles simultaneously to get an IV and was then shot up with unknown medication that almost made me go into a seizure. I was absolutely terrified. I was held in the mental health waiting zone when I had no mental health things that needed to be addressed at the time. I heard someone there laughing at the whole situation as it went down. It was my younger brother who had tried to kill me. He was shooting over a gram of Meth a day and somehow the hospital was working with him to punish or try to hurt me. I was not tripping and am 100% sure this happened. I am going to lose my life at one of these hospitals. Probably the one I'm at now... Detroit Receiving in the waiting room doing these reviews. Cardiology Testing Department ~ Love all these people in this department. Kathy and the Indian & Polish ladies, Brandon and the other gentlemen. These doctors and nurses are just amazing and I can't say enough about them. It was though they were old friends the interest they all had about the care I received . . . I walked in there nervous and walked out of there on a Cloud-9. Vicki (intake) is a little work horse and Sarah answering the phone is sooo on the ball. She even remembered speaking with me, 2 weeks prior! I'd went for a different test 2 months prior .... and Sharon was the kick-off to this amazing team. The doctors incorrectly diagnosed me which led to permanent injury and on top of it they couldn't even bill correctly

This is the worst hospital ive ever been to. Had an MRI at 1030am. Was told everything was normal at 1pm and was going to be discharged. It is now 530 and I am still waiting to be discharged. The staff is so disrespectful and completely ignored us and forgot about us. There is only so much patience. read more

Mother went in after a stroke and nurses were very rude when asked questions. When need to help they were hard to find. When she needed help to use the bathroom we were told to tell her to just go in the bed. And when she did. It would take them 15-20 minutes to come clean her up. If you want to wait 4-5 hours in the waiting room then another 3-4 hours in the ER room be my guest. For one my husband and I came here after an accident that was caused by a man feeling from the police at 85+ mph and they let us leave within an hour or two without an pain meds to get us through the Labor Day weekend before we could go to our family doctor. Now I brought my husband in for a second time because he's in so much pain and we've been waiting 4-5 hours and still going to just get into the ER and get him some help. Totally don't agree with the 15 minute ER wait. Was there on February 20, 2017 waited over three hours and still didn't get to see a doctor - finally me and my pneumonia left. Also witnessed another patient becoming very irate do to his wait time. Before leaving the ER I notified an attendant that I've been waiting over three hours and I just can't wait any longer, she told me that there were some people waiting over five hours. My brother has been in this hospital since December 16th and just keeps getting worst. I have left numerous messages for the case manager to call and they say she is busy and will call me back. They never want to give you an update of their care and treat you like a nobody even though I have medical power of attorney. I am looking into transferring him and I asked to talk to a patient advocate and no one can tell me how to file a grievance against this hospital. I will be calling Medicare and BCBS to please investigate. Also trying to find out how to file charges with the state. Maybe they can get answers that the hospital seems to be hiding. I would not take my dog here and told my husband even if it is life or death never take me to this place. Also asked numerous times to talk to someone in administration and the reply is they won't talk to you. They just don't care about their patients. read more

Went to the ER for extreme lower back pain (prior herniated disk surgery). I called the local urgent care facility and was told that they don't have anesthesiologist's on staff, prior to going to the ER @ McClaren Macomb. I saw the nurse who checks you in and provided her my insurance & personal information. Waited about an hour and was seen by a resident physician who said they didn't have an anesthesiologist on staff to administer an epidural shot, which was my sole purpose for visiting the ER (at a so-called hospital). The resident physician gave me a steroid shot & muscle relaxing shot that both had zero effect for the pain. I then saw an ER physician for about 30 seconds, so I basically received little to no help for my pain/injury. Then I received bills from the ER physician and Macomb McClaren. I contacted Cigna and they said wait for an updated invoice as they had not processed the EOB yet. I received the EOB and updated invoice from McClaren Macomb and paid it, but kept receiving invoices from the physician. I called Cigna and they said to ignore it as the correct invoice was paid. Know I am receiving calls & invoices in the mail from a 3rd party collections company. What a Joke this hospital is from top to bottom. read more

If I could do negative stars I would. My mother was rerouted to this hospital. They refused to keep her primary care physician informed, after I made I clear I wanted all results sent to him. Changed her meds, took her off her antidepressants cold turkey. Now she is emotionally unstable. Then three different doctors proscribed 3 different heart meds, after the Heart Dr. Said her heart was fine. Now I'm having to take her to her Dr. To try to fix this mess. But wait there's more. I filled out paperwork to have all test results sent to her Dr. And they never turned it in. Oh but it there is the last but not least moment... They lied and told her that if she transfered to Henry Ford, the insurance WOULD NOT cover any of her hospital stay, which would be over 50 grand. After I contacted the insurance company, I was told that was not the case. Milking the insurance.. is more like it. I wouldn't put my dog in this hospital let alone my mother. Nurses were nice all in all. But the mighty dollar, has really changed patient care. I hope they make changes to improve patient care, and give the primary care physicians the respect they deserve, regardless to what network they are in. read more

I am disgusted with this hospital . I have never wrote a review but I had to after this experience. I took my 4 year old to ER at midnight with an extremely high temperate. The second I walked in it was as if I was ruining the 2 lady's at the check in desks night. They told me there were 5 people ahead of me as I was standing there for a while looking lost. After getting a couple eye rolls for asking how long before someone looks at her , They took my daughters vitals and handed over a small cup on Tylenol. My daughter asked for water and the lady ignored her and I had to repeat it. My daughter was in the chair less than 1 minute and Then as I was helping trying to get her to take the Tylenol the lady starts getting another girls blood pressure than looks at me and says " can you go wait in the waiting room because as you can see I have other people that need to sit there." Her attitude was disgusting. I grabbed my daughter and left and rushed out . From now on only St. John and Beaumont! Don't take your children there and if you can avoid don't go there! read more

I had my daughter there 20 years ago. I was treated very very poorly. Nurse was down right mean and my doctor at the time did not even make it to deliver her. 10 years later my father was diagnosed with cancer. At the time he had no medical insurance and they would not move forward with treating him. They continually sent him home knowing his condition. The tumors were growing at such a rapid rate by the time he was insured Mclaren did not even have a surgeon qualified to perform what was needed to help him. He had to be transfered to U of M where he received life saving treatment. Thank you to god an the experts at U of M! read more

Felt like I was being treated by interns all the way around in the ER. In compassionate staff, wait times were extremely long, bled for hours before someone took my condition seriously when I ended up passing out. Horrible traumatic experience. Will never go to this hospital again. read more

On Sunday night arived with my boyfriend who had post op complications from a femoral bypass in his right leg. Procedure was done at this hospital. His leg had been tender and swollen and suddenly his scar opened and blood poured out. They checked his vitals in triage and put us in room 12. After 2.5 hours I approached the nursing station because we had not seen a nurse or doctor since we were put in the room, his leg was still bleeding and he said he was feeling woozy. I found approximately 10 nurses sitting there doing nothing except chatting with each other and laughing. When I inquired about the doctor I was told there was a pediatric emergency. When i asked if there was only one dr in the whole er I was scolded with "ma'am. Its a child!!!!" "All the doctors are working on it. It's a child!!!" After another hour a nurse came in to tell us she was taking over for Melissa. Interesting since we have never seen Melissa. She said let me update your vitals. Last time anyone had bothered to check was 3.5 hours ago in triage!!! About 30 minutes later a doctor came in felt his foot and told us they would start an IV take blood and call the vascular doctor. She was there for 5 minutes. About 20 minutes later someone came to take blood. Nice lady who was very good at her job. About 40 minutes later a vascular surgeon came in looked at the wound and cleaned his leg since no one else had!!! They never started an IV. Long and short of it we were sent home with instructions to follow up with surgeon. Saw him today about 36 hours later and wound is infected and requires in patient care and surgery. This ER is a death trap. Lazy uncaring nursing staff and understaffed with Drs. read more

BEWARE, once your child turns 18, there is no needed parental permission for ANYTHING. Recommend parents having a long talk with their children once they turn 18. Have your child get THEIR COST in writing from the hospital before doing the test. Otherwise, in a split second, your child can be in financial ruin. read more

Worse experience ever. So I went by EMS because I was having chest pains and my heart rate got to 289 I was in A-fib the doctor kept telling me it was very important to say there/ at the hospital because it takes 12 hours for the medicine to fully work I had no problem saying there until I had to pee it took 3 hours for them to un hook me from the IV so I could go to the bathroom then after it took 4 hours for them too hook me back up to the IV I was very upset because the doctor kept telling me I had to stay on the medicine for 12 hours or I could have a stroke or die and some other things well 4 hours later the nurse finally hooks it back up. I could of died they wouldn't of known tell someone came to clean the room probably because they were not checking on me I was un hooked from everything for 4 hours after I was finely hooked back up and my heart rate was 310 I was blacking out so I signed my self out as soon as I was able to because they were not doing there job at all I ended up going to a different hospital and seeing my doctor oh and it took them 6 hours to get me a drink even though the doctor told them to get me one two hours after me being there. I was in the ER for 11 and 1/2 hours oh most made it to 12 hours and I was not hooked up to the IV for 4 hours because they forgot to hook me back up. I'm very very upset about this. I was scared of if i stayed I would of died because they apparently didn't know how to do there job or how serious this was. read more

After being sent home from ER I returned 24 hours later with same symptoms. Severe diarrhea with vomiting. This time I waited FIVE hours in waiting room to be seen in the ER. If someone told me this happened to them I would find it hard to believe. Then was finally admitted after being seen. Although I was admitted I remained in ER all night on a gurney. I was moved into a small room in the ER and the door was closed. I had a call light but a lot of good it did me. I requested help four times during the night. My light would be answered, turned off and ignored. Once a CNA came into the room and walked out without giving any aide. The ER nurse I had prior to admission ( a male) was the only compassionate professional and caring one. In the morning I was moved to a room upstairs. I was in the hospital for five days total. Not once was I offered a basin of water or assistance to bathe. Pitiful my bed was changed once when I was having tests. I only got to change gowns if I ask for one. The floor was littered with Kleenex from my roommate and housekeeping did not sweep/mop the floor once in five days. Housekeeping never gave me anything to throw trash in and not once wiped my tray down. Housekeeping never came in except when my roommate moved and then two girls talked and giggled about their private lives and complained about their jobs while they changed/cleaned the bed next to me. Being a nurse myself I was appalled at the care. During my stay I had one exceptional night nurse and one wonderful day nurse. Other than that I felt uncared about. I never want to be there again! read more

On July 16, 2015, we brought our 94 year old mother, to McLaren Hospital because of extremely high blood pressure and because she had fallen three times in one week. Prior to this time she was in good condition for a 94 year old. She lives by herself in a senior living facility, prepares her own breakfast, plays cards three times a week and was able to walk with a walker to the dining room or wherever else in the facility she chose to go. She attended five parties/luncheons outside the facility the previous week. She was released from McLaren on July 18, 2015. We took her home, and she could not even get out of a chair, let alone walk to the bathroom. She needed assistance to even go to the bathroom. We immediately returned to McLaren, spent another 2 and one half hours in the waiting room, and advised that this was an UNSAFE DISCHARGE.. She was readmitted. On Monday, July 20, we were notified that she was being discharged. During the four days she was in the hospital, she was using a bed pan and as far as I know was never out of bed. We tried everything to either keep her in the hospital or have her transferred to a rehab facility. We kept getting the same answer, no, no, no. The "administrator" would not budge on her decision. Had this been a case where she was a typical 94 year old who could not walk, we would not have objected, and possibly looked for a nursing home; but as I stated above, one week earlier, she was able to take care of herself and attend five parties in one week. There was definitely something wrong. I signed the discharge papers, and noted "AGAINST FAMILY WISHES, UNSAFE DISCHARGE." As she was being prepared to go home, a doctor came in (I believe it was because I wrote unsafe discharge), and advised that she was not going home, she should have never been discharged and that she needed a pacemaker. The next day, Tuesday, July 21, she had surgery to give her a pacemaker. On Thursday, July 23, she was discharged from McLaren to a Rehabilitation Center, where she remains for at least another week. She is in OT and PT twice a day each. She is getting stronger every day and will be able to return to her home next week. read more

My 38 yr. old son, Scott was seen on 10-13-13 for extreme pain. He was given a shot of dilaudid and told if the pain did not decrease in 6 hrs. to return to the E.R. Today, 10-14-13 at approximately 6 P.M. he could not stand the pain anymore so my wife and I took him back to the E.R. All Dr.Reidy did was to engage and raise his voice at my wife. He accused my son of shopping for narcotics and went on to PREACH about the "narcs" coming down. At NO TIME did my son ask for ANY prescription! All he wanted was some relief from his pain. Might I add that his BP, after 2 readings was 158/100. Dr. Reidy disregarded this and said to my son, "Oh, I see you have insurance. You could go anywhere" WHO would be stupid enough to go to the SAME hospital 24 hrs. later for drugs? Oh, and who brings their 62 yr. old mother with them when drug shopping, as was the implied comment. I do NOT appreciate my wife being hollered at by an INCONSIDERATE D.O. nor do I like my son being referred to as a drug shopper. He was following the orders of the D.O. he was seen by on Sunday. Dr. Reidy proceeded to tell my son he would give him a shot of Dilaudid and that he should NOT return. Might I add Dr. Reidy also was told my son HAS a pain management Dr. that he has signed a contract with. Now for the best part, the nurse told my wife that my son did NOT get a shot of Dilaudid, but something milder. What ever happened to the Hippocratic oath? All Dr. Reidy seemed to want to do was PREACH to my son and wife and raise his voice. Social Security has my son, Scott, on permanent disability because of his chronic pain. So he was lied to about his shot for his pain and then as a back handed slap given a script for Motrin, and even THAT was for 600 mg. which I might add he did NOT ask for. So after what took about an hour on Sunday took nearly 2 1/2 hrs and my wife was told as she and my son entered that it was a good time as they had an empty room. I don't know if Dr. Reidy made my son wait longer on purpose or not. Either way I picked up my son and my weeping wife, thank you Dr. Reidy NOT, and we went home. I asked up front the charges and was not told they bill for doctor and then for the hospital. AND they make you come back for test results and double bill you again!!!! So round two of stitches for Tyler tonight, after he fell riding his bike and split his chin open. As if it's not hard enough rushing your kid to the ER covered in blood, our experience at McLaren Macomb emergency was horrific. As I sit here in tears writing this... I should have followed my mommy gut and taken him elsewhere. I've had plenty of experiences in ER's and clinics, but this was the worst and most questionable regarding proper care. The people registering us didn't offer a towel to catch blood flying from his chin or to wipe his arms & neck covered in blood. Couldn't make eye contact to ask if he was ok, barely took his vitals as if we were disrupting their evening. Get into a room and the ER nurse slapped numbing cream on his chin with gauze, then thew him some baby wipes for him to clean up his own bloody body. Never checked for other wounds, cuts or even clean his scrapped up hands for him. As he shook in being wet, cold and upset she couldn't be bothered to offer him a blanket. He was left for an hour and forty five minutes before I had to ask for a doctor to see him. In comes a newbie resident (it's July after all) who doesn't introduce himself, does a basic half ass exam and goes to get the attending. Twenty minutes later the attending comes in as I am helping Tyler get dressed to leave for another hospital. We stay as she looks at the wound, says he needs 3 stitches and then leaves. The resident comes back in to clean the wound ( which is now two hours after we've been there) does a half ass job since I just got home and still had to clean gravel from around his chin & mouth. The resident then "attempts" to stitch, after his third failed attempt to stitch my kids chin I ask for the attending. What a joke, for it being a quiet ER night why wouldn't the attending supervise this resident stitching my kids face, why would it take 1.45 minutes to see a dr or 2 hours to clean a wound. They didn't clean his other wounds and scraps or even remove all the gravel from the area surrounding the cut. NEVER AGAIN. Should have trusted my mom gut and taken him elsewhere. Oh and to the final nurse that couldn't be bothered to take 2 minutes to clean the blood away from the stitches, thanks for just slapping some gel and a bandaid on my kids face to end on an even worse note! read more

I had to take my husband to the e.r. back in November 2013. He was having chest pains and was in and out it. Since McLaren was the closest hospital, I had to take him there. I did get help when I first took him to the e.r. I had to park in the overflow lot. By the time I got to him, he was still waiting at the triage area. Then we finally go to the back and they took their time. They wanted to keep him over night but do to the insurance we had, we could not stay and had to be transported to DMC Harper Hospital. They were not happy about that. When we arrived at DMC Harper Hospital, the Dr. who took their call even said how rude they were. I am sorry but when someone comes in with chest pains and going in and out of it, you don't keep them at triage. You take them straight to the back, you gather the information on who the patient is from who took them there. I will never go back to McLaren Macomb again. Then to top it off we recieved a dr bill stating our ins. denied the claim. I called our insurance company and they said they did not deny the claim and they are in the process of paying the claim.
