These people scammed me into paying a $150 co-pay that was not permitted by their contract with my insurer and have resisted paying it back after multiple attempts on my part. They are rude and dismissive in person, don't pick up the phone, and have hung up on my insurance carrier. They made a dunning call for $100 to my neighbor a year after her Medicare paid her claim entirely. Skirting or even over the line for fraud. Both incidents were for COVID tests. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. Dr's Gupta are awful. I went to them for a check up, they did an exam and blood work and I waited for the results. After a few days, I received a call from the practice telling me that my test results are in and I need to come in asap to discuss. I asked what is the concern and I was told, 'the doctor will have to speak with you about the results' My first thought was, omg, am I going to die? I was concerned so I took off from work and went immediately. After arriving and waiting for about 45 minutes, they took me back and explained that I have a vitamin D deficiency. This was in January and with the lack of sunshine, vitamin D is low in everyone. I was furious! I used PTO to take the afternoon off and for what? A doctors visit cost hundreds to my insurance and almost $200 in PTO. Too add insult to injury, they tried to sell me a $35 bottle of vitamin D supplements among other unnecessary items. PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE ATTENDING. When I came to this clinic I checked with my insurance Tricare(active duty) if this was a clinic I could attend before getting a covid test I was given a good to go, well apparently their billing department doesn't know how to send claims and Rachel(asian accent woman) not sure how to properly say it but was very rude and decided to tell me a veteran would send me to collects because they didn't know how to handle a claim through my insurance. I had to call my own insurance and three way call because she didn't know how to do her job but very easily threatening me, yes threatening to send me to collections but very easily said or you can give me your money and you can get reimbursed through your insurance and you can handle it. I'm not sure who trained her or why anyone would want someone like that in their billing department. The worst customer service and making threatens to a veteran doesn't sit well with me and I will take legal actions. I didn't disregard her I told her I called my insurance and every time I've called they told me the same thing, have them resend it and we will handle it. "Rachel then again thought it would be okay to again claim that I wasn't taking it serious until she threatened to send me to collections". I'd like to give zero stars. Among the worst experiences I've ever had at a business, incredulous that any people who work in "healthcare" could be so awful and uncaring. They were so bad to my aged mother - vulnerable because she has dementia - that at one point I was in tears. Disorganized, rude and deceitful. Receptionists who hope patients will leave - one said my mom didn't have an appointment rather than look her up (she had an appointment) and another said the x-Ray tech had not come in (she was in). I had a pretty disappointing experience at this center. I will say the front desk and PA's were very friendly. After coping with flu-like symptons for almost 10 days, I finally decided to go into a doctor to make sure it wasn't something more serious. The PA's weighed me, took my blood pressure, did some mouth swabs, and then I waited for doctor Gupta. She eventually came in, put some breathing apparatus on my mouth, and 10 minutes later commented on how much better my cough sounded and then she prescribed me Tamiflu, azithro, and two inhalers. Dr. Gupta did no blood/urine work, didn't even break out her stetho to listen to my ticker and lungs, and asked 0 questions about symptoms. She just churned out generic scripts which weren't applicable to my situation. Grade C lazy medical attention, I will do better research before I pick a doctor next time. read more

Physician assistant Shalini Jain is inconsiderate and rude not only in her tone but her attitude towards patients. The front desk receptionists made an appointment with my mother for 4:30 and yet as soon as Shalini walks in she questions my mother asking when her appointment was and doubting the fact that the office would ever make an appointment that late. Well you know what Shalini? They did. Maybe you should take the time to check with your receptionists first before unprofessionally questioning a patient. Second, the manner in which she spoke to my mother was incredibly rude regarding her medical condition. Instead of offering tips and providing medical insight, she would tell my mother: "you shouldn't be eating any salt at all. The rest of your family can eat salt but you can't eat salt. You can't go out and eat at all. That's why." [my mother has high blood pressure.] Why don't you follow up with that Shalini? What kind of medical professional throws that sort of blanket comment at a patient without any follow up or guidance or at least a referral to a third party specialist. We get it. My mother has high blood pressure but we came to this office for GUIDANCE and follow up to her diagnosis- I mean isn't that what typical medical professional does at a medical center? If she wanted to just be told to stop eating out and take out salt entirely out of her diet without any guidance I could've told her that and my mother could've paid me instead. Look at the other reviews at this place and you'll get a general pattern of the type of establishment this place is. It's a shame since the front desk receptionists are kind but the medical professionals I can't say the same for. This place is horrible. Waited for a long time for the doctor to see me for approximately 30 seconds. He said there was nothing wrong even though I knew I had a sinus infection. Didn't not give me any medicine except the advice to "take Advil". Oh, and the bill I was given was for 130 dollars!!!! For what?!?! This dr is a crook and fraud. I finally went back to a different urgent care 2 weeks later today and was told my sinus infection has now spread to a double ear infection. I was given a steroid shot, antibiotics, and was in and out of the office within 30 minutes. I will never return and will make sure to tell everyone I know in McLean to avoid this place! read more

I wish I had seen these Yelp reviews before I went. STAY AWAY. RECOMMEND GOING TO ANOTHER URGENT CARE CENTER IN THE AREA. Some lab screenings......you just want an answer as soon as possible. You don't want to have to anxiously wait any longer than necessary for the results. I don't think they have any sensitivity to that here. I got simple blood lab testing done and a urine culture. A week and a half later (more than enough time), still no phone call with the results. So I stop by to get the results, only to find that: 1. My urine sample was "lost" by the lab. I know lab mistakes occur, but I've rarely had that happen in all my extensive experience with screenings. Given the other issues below, I think it is more likely they never even sent it to the lab. But they said they've had numerous problems with this lab losing things. To which I responded "if you know it's a problem, why are you still using this lab?" They should not be shirking their responsibility at the patients' expense. 2. One of the tests were never run by the lab. They said the lab ran out of blood (why no phone call then?). I think they made this up and never ordered the lab because I saw a carbon copy of the lab order and the missing lab looked like it was marked after the fact in pen on top of the carbon copy. I think they forgot to order the lab and checked off the box after the fact in an attempt to cover up their oversight. 3. They couldn't even understand (much less answer) the questions I was asking. 4. When I asked why it has been so long and nobody has called me about the results that had come back and to tell me more samples were needed, I was told "the folder has been sitting on her desk waiting to call you". Well, I don't know who "her" is, but that is UNACCEPTABLE for my file to sit there for a week without action, especially when I needed to be notified more blood and urine samples were needed. From the check-in staff to the assistants and techs, they are all absolutely clueless. I am not at all surprised these mix ups occurred and I would not be surprised to find out the errors were their fault and not the fault of the lab (as I said, there was even evidence leading to that conclusion). The doctor or PA (not even sure what she was), was at least knowledgable and apologized for the problems (which she wasn't fully aware of until I told her. It appeared to me the staff only told her part if the story in an attempt to cover up their errors). So, now I wait anxiously for results I should have had almost two weeks ago. read more

Always willing to listen, never pre-judges and isn't quick to prescribe. Isn't that the basis of good medical care. I would recommend this practice to anyone. read more

First things first. No wait! How was I so lucky to go to a doctor as a first time patient and get moved thru paperwork, vitals and then to the exam room. Dr. Jain listened w professionalism and empathy about my concerns as a woman in my mid forties watching closely the health issues that are genetically in my line of fire. Her report built an immediate trust with me and I felt I had just made a lifelong commitment w my new primary physician. The supporting staff made the entire experience fluid, enjoyable and time efficient. I had an exam, EKG and took a quiz for some health markers. I was finished in 1:15 from start to finish. Dr. Shalini Jain, Is one of the most caring and compasionte doctors I have ever had. She listens to your concers and always asks if I have had any new issues since my last visit. Her staff is very good, the nurses and reciptionists. Dr. Shalini does not rush the visit, but is thorough in her exam. I would recommend her highly, as i have had wonderful care with her. Anyone who has negative things to say, must have other issues and not with Dr. Shalini. I know several people that also go to this Medical Center and love the care they get. Dr. Ambrish Gupta is a terrible physician, from all encounters I have had with him. He doesn't listen to what you tell him, he offers antibiotics like candy and is clearly only in this for the money. He has a dismissive, immature behavior and writes off the things you tell him in a very ignorant way. When I was there a few days ago, the office manager was berating and criticizing the nurses in front of clients at the front desk. The poor nurses look like they are treated like slaves. I have only seen this happen when it is Dr. Ambrish Gupta (male) at the office. In general, this place is an all around terribly unprofessional office when he is there. The lady nurse practitioner/doctor is better and has a great personality and relationship with her patients (not sure her name). If you have to go here, make sure she will be the one to see you. Also, they let other patients leave their urine samples on a table in the only public restroom, which is absolutely disgusting. This cannot be sanitary. I had to look at three disgusting yellow/brown ish urine samples while I used the restroom. Good grief. It's not surprising to see that they lost some of the lab samples for their patients if they take care of them like that. read more

I received primary medical care from Mclean Medical Center on Old Dominion Drive for more than 2 years. From day one, when making appointments I was always told that Dr. Gupta wasn't available, but I would be able to see the PA named Ahn. After meeting Ahn and having a positive visit with her, I was comfortable with having her address my medical needs. Recently, Ahn left the Medical Center for reasons unknown, and Shalini Jain is the PA that they assign everyone to see. I find it weird that every time I went in for an appointment, no MD's were seeing patients, only PA's. When I would get a prescription or a visit summary from my insurance company, only Dr. Gupta's name would appear and nothing about the actual person who treated me. It seems like there is something going on at this location that shouldn't be happening. My last visit I went in for nothing but blood work and ended up seeing Shalini Jain even though I did not request to see a physician or PA. When I called, the lady at the front desk said I could walk in to have the blood drawn by a clinical assistant with no appointment and it would be quick. When I got there, none of that was true, and they made me talk to a physician assistant (PA), which turns simple blood work into a whole visit and charges you a co-pay. This was the second time I had see Ms Jain, even though I requested to not work with her anymore because of how rude she was my last appointment with her. On this occasion, as soon as she walked in the room she was rude. I asked what I needed to discuss with her and she proceeded to get into things that I had not come in for. I was randomly clicking a pen while she read through my records and she yelled out "STOP IT!!! You are annoying me". At this point, I asked what she needed to see me for, and she couldn't give me a reason. She said I came in for my sore throat, but I told her that I was seeing an ENT as well as a Gastroenterologist and already had that under control. She tried to guess and tell me what was wrong with my throat, but I already knew what the issue was from seeing the two specialist and having an endoscopy. Then she said I came in with flu-like symptoms, but that wasn't true at all because I had already gotten over the illness. She continued to guess what I could have been there for and I told her it was simply for blood-work which I try to do on a 6 month basis. She was very loud and rude with me, didn't allow me to talk, and told me to leave because she couldn't help me unless she could put some diagnosis in my file so they could bill the insurance company for my visit. I previously worked in healthcare, and from my knowledge a doctor or PA does not need to see you in order to draw blood, and you do not need a diagnosis for blood work to be done. I paid my co-pay just so I could get out of there and Shalini Jain had to call someone on the phone to find out she was wrong the entire time. At the end of this visit I informed the person at the front desk that I will no longer seek medical care from Mclean Medical Center because of the horrible customer service. They push you into scheduling appointments with physician assistants and I literally never heard from Dr. J .Gupta or Dr. A. Gupta. I could go on and on about how she talks down to patients, cuts you off, gets loud, walks away when you are trying to explain things to her, and gets mad when you tell her that she is wrong. The front desk does not keep track of paperwork and they have files clearly laying around in piles everywhere. I filled out a change of address form at least 3 times, and they still didn't have my correct address on file. They even emailed me once asking for my address and I called back to give it to them. If they cannot keep track of correct addresses, I wonder what other issues are happening behind the scenes. I DO NOT recommend being treated by the PA Shalini Jain because it is a waste of time and money. She is not very knowledgeable and gives diagnoses that do not make sense. They want you to come in and pay for a visit to get simple refills on medicines that you have been on for years and no office visit is needed. I DO NOT recommend being seen at this medical center in general at all. In my opinion, they only care about making money with the cheapest resources possible. read more

I recently needed a full physical /check-up and I had a issue involving a painful joint. I have not used a primary care physician since my former doc went concierge. I read the reviews here,but gave these physicians a chance, as the location was convenievt. They made a good impression on me. Both doctors with whom I interacted did a fine job. If it was possible to give negative stars I would. At first greeting Mrs. Shalini Jain asked out loud if I had called in for "hives" and if that was me. There was no sense of decorum. I sheepishly replied yes and I was given forms to fill out. The front desk/nurse asked me for the first page of the forms then proceeded to call my insurance on speaker phone for all my information to sound out over the lobby, my birthday, my insurance information, the spelling of my name all rang out over the lobby. There was no sense of professionalism or confidentiality. Next the front desk/nurse asked me to pay a hefty $150.00 fee and yelled at me across the lobby to do so. I thought this was strange as the office is in network with my insurance. I was then taken to the back where she addressed me by my last name only barking my last name at me like an inmate in a prison. She weighed me without giving me a room to set my things down in first. I had to find a chair to put my things down in then pick them up again to take them to the room she was taking me to. She asked for the reason for my visit, she was unfriendly and cold. I did not feel welcomed. I told the PA that I had suffered from an allergic reaction to an antibiotic. That I was given methlyprednisolone and the hives I had experienced previously had returned I tried to tell her that my doctor did give me a prednisone shot but not prednisone pills because of the extreme stomach pain it had caused me in the past. Prednisone does not work well with my stomach I took it a few years ago for migraines and it was the worst stomach pain of my life, however, as I was trying to explain this to Mrs. Shalini she cut me off and said that she wanted to be focused on the situation at hand. She didn't let me tell my story. She then said she needed to get a new pen and left the room for about 15 minutes. When she came back I joked that, that was some pen she needed to find and she said she needed to write prescriptions for me and help someone else. She then prescribed me 4 pills of prednisone per day and an antacid called prilosec. I asked her if there is any other course or treatment available, if I can get the prednisone in a shot form or if i can do anything else. ​When I went to the pharmacist I told him about what prednisone had done to my stomach and he said not to take the prednisone. I thought the prilosec would line my stomach and he said it was simply an antacid and would not do that. I was so grateful that the pharmacist told me this and gave me a refund otherwise I would be in excruciating pain right now from the prednisone. Mrs. Shalini Jain cut me off when I tried to talk to her about my past medical history, prescribed me something that could hurt me, she ordered an EKG which I still don't understand because I do not have heart problems and she gave me a nebulizer when I do not have asthma. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU WHEN YOU ARE IN NETWORK AND NOT HELP YOU AT ALL! I have emailed them several times about my experience and about reimbursing my $150.00 and explain why they charged it as I am in network. I have not heard from them in weeks. read more

I have had the pleasure of being treated by Ms. Shalini Jain for two years at the McLean Medical Center, and give her my highest recommendation. As a middle-aged woman with a few health issues, she has been kind, sensitive, and highly knowledgeable in her treatment and recommendations, and incredibly patient service focused. In addition, she has been so responsive and available, even on an emergency basis. When my prior physician closed her McLean practice and sold it to the Guptas, I didn't know what to expect. Shalini Jain's excellent care has allowed me to be comfortable and relieved that I continue to have a neighborhood practice I can trust without reservation. If you need a full-service practice staffed by excellent doctors and a PA, Shalini Jain, whom I can personally recommend, go to McLean Medical Center. While brief "emergency" consultation I had there recently was adequate (hence , the one star), I found the staff unreceptive to my legitimate request for full billing information -- and failed to return promised phone callback when I called to follow up on my billing information request. My sense is they had reason to be unreceptive, considering the hugely inflated billing rates for the simplest and shortest of examinations -- upwards of $700-$900 hourly rate equivalent. I would stay away from this outfit -- unless of course you have no problem being subject to the proverbial "fleecing." read more

Love, love, love this place. I am a third-generation native of this area but our primary doctor retired 5 years ago. As a result, for years, we have been looking for a primary care doctor that we really connected with. I visited this office as an urgent care patient once and when I learned that they also see patients as a primary care facility, I registered my husband and I on the spot! We had also been looking to transition out our two older college kids from the pediatrician and have since taken them there as well. We have all seen the PA, Shalini Jan, and she is AWESOME!! Great personality, energetic and they all have such a happy, welcoming demeanor.. A great combination when you aren't feeling well and we are thrilled to have found them. My boys love them/her and look forward to when our other two kids are old enough to join the practice as well. I will say, it is very surprising to see the small handful of comments down below, but they absolutely could not represent the overwhelming majority of those that walk in the door. Every time we have been there, the patients are happy, the staff is happy..it is has a very open, small-town feel to it and very comforting. It is understandable when people don't feel well, they aren't necessarily as happy or satisfied, but do not let those below deter you.
