I thought that moving to a local pharmacy vs a large pharmacy like CVS would support local business and customer service would be better . But I was really wrong . I will be changing my pharmacy . Love these folks! They're so helpful and friendly, stock lots of things we need, and are super accommodating when we've come for Covid tests or boosters (thank you for being willing to mask for that!) They also have great ventilation which makes it a much safer place to go if you'd rather not catch anyone else's bugs while you're at the pharmacy! Worst customer service ever, I asked the woman pharmacist behind the counter a question and she was so MEAN and condescending. I asked a question about my insurance coverage and she gave me a disdainful, scornful response. Unbelievable! Also, they hide behind the counter and act annoyed when customers come in. There used to be an older gentleman pharmacist that was so nice! I guess he no longer works there. I would not recommend going to this pharmacy except as a last resort and don't expect to be treated with any level of respect. But if you're really desperate - sometimes they can get meds that CVS can't. read more

Wonderful place. The pharmacist is very kind and attentive. One time we mentioned that we ran out of a prescription medication (pink eye eye drops) and he checked and told us that we had a refill available on the prior prescription. No need for a time-consuming doctor visit to get a new prescription, no need to pay a pointless copay. Plus their prices are sometimes cheaper than CVS. Support local businesses. read more

Horrible customer service. A prescription didn't get called in, my doctor then verified and resent, and the pharmacist and techs wouldn't even make eye contact or speak to me so I would know what's going on. Pro tip - don't sneer or roll your eyes at customers. Update: Perhaps you have me confused with other dissatisfied patients. I know this has happened to friends of mine who use the same doctor for the same prescription and they always get treated rudely if the prescription wasn't accepted electronically. The text notification system works at best half the time so don't blame your patients for not knowing a prescription isn't ready. And interesting that you don't deny sneering and eye rolling. When you're only looking at a face above a mask, it's really obvious when this happens. Maybe don't discriminate against patients based on their prescriptions, and don't take out frustration with or dislike of a doctor onto patients. Look at people in the eye, don't make them go down a line of staff members to find you (most retail SOPs would indicate that the tech would call you over), and just simply state the facts about when something will be ready. Don't assume the patient is lying about a prescription being called in. Give the benefit of the doubt and simply say that once the doctor calls in it will be X amount of time before it's ready. But no, go ahead and roll your eyes and sneer and treat patients like drug seekers. read more

Went to McClean pharmacy and paid $250 for a rapid Covid test, which supposedly was to give me results back in 24 hours. Not only did they not get back to me - it's been 3 days now - I called to complain and they 'said' they'd call me back and let me know what they could do after the pharmacy manager reviewed it, but again, no follow through and no communication. Mostly I go here because​ they are nice as compared to the harried staff at CVS and Giant. This pharmacy made an unforgivable mistake by providing the incorrect dosage information that would have caused the patient to overdose on antibiotics had I not called the doctor back to reconfirm the dosage. The prescription called for 0.5ml once every 24 hours yet the pharmacist put 5ml once every 12 hours on the medicine's label. This is beyond disturbing. And since the pharmacy is closed on Sunday, there's no way for me to ask them what's the correct dosage. I am putting this review up as a warning to everyone picking up medicine from this pharmacy to double-check with your doctor the correct dosage and don't just rely on the pharmacist's label. Update: (1) The pharmacist admitted that she filled the prescription as once every 12 hours and claimed that the doctor told her so. However, I have the actual prescription which clearly states once every 24 hours. The prescription was never changed. It is absolutely inexcusable for a pharmacist to not implement a system where such mistakes and miscommunication do not occur. If I had followed the pharmacy's erroneous label, the patient would have been overdosed. (2) The thickness claim is invalid. Another compounding pharmacy is able to fill the prescription as was prescribed by decreasing the thickening agent. The patient has been able to ingest the correct amount as was prescribed by the doctor. (3) I never received the correct medication from your pharmacy because have lost my trust so claiming I received it is a false statement. (4) Trying to cover up your mistakes and negligence by blatantly making false claims is also inexcusable. I have been in contact with the office of the prescribing doctor and at no point was the prescription changed. The fact that McLean pharmacist was not able to make the medicine as prescribed is not the mistake. The mistake is to not inform the customer of deviating from the prescription, thinking that it is reasonable to give a cat 5 syringe full of 5ml liquid each dose every 12 hours. The mistake is to not follow an error-proof process of confirming the prescription and not only sell me double the amount of the antibiotic but also cause me to almost overdose the patient. I strongly urge your pharmacy to implement a safer process of filling all your customers' prescription before someone suffers an accidental overdose due to negligence. read more

Further the process to get results is extremely cumbersome and requires each person to set up an account with the lab. This is an excellent non-chain pharmacy. Everyone in the store is helpful and pleasant. However, the main reason I like them is because they can order hard to find medications and have them in stock the next day. I began taking a new medicine in 2014. When I went to the chain pharmacies, none of them had it and they would not even order it for me. I was given all sorts of excuses by the large chain pharmacies--'That is a med that is not prescribed much'; 'no profit margin to us in ordering it for you', and my all time favorite 'the store manager would have to approve the order' HUH? Who is in charge of the pharmacy--the store manager or the head pharmacist? After getting these responses from the chains, I saw McLean Pharmacy while driving thru McLean. I stopped in, told the pharmacist the problems I had been having and she told me they could order it for me and it would be there the next day. Additionally they had another hard to find med IN STOCK! They have been filling my prescription ever since. I always call a week in advance of when I need the medicine filled and they have it in stock and can fill the prescription in 5 to 10 minutes, If you are into alternative medicine they have a whole area of the store with herbal and alternative items. A little while ago in the dead of the winter, our little Sophia was diagnosed with early stages of the flu. The doctor prescribed Tamiflu in its liquid form to keep the virus from spreading. We could not fill the prescription in any of the area pharmacies - they were all sold out. That's when McLean Pharmacy staff came to the rescue. Not only did they have it in stock, but they also stayed a little past their closing time to ensure that I get there the same night to pick it up - as time was of the essence. I am extremely please with McLean Pharmacy. I take several herbal supplements that are only available from physicians or pharmacists. My physician stopped carrying the product for a while and now they have it irregularly, which does not work for me. McLean Pharmacy advertises herbal products so I thought they might be able to order it for me. They carried the brand but not the specific products I wanted. They immediately offered to order the products so I took them up on the offer. I've been buying the products from them ever since. I had another supplement that was very difficult to find but they found it and I now buy that from them as well. I also discovered that they compound medications, and as another reviewer noted, they will compound medications for pets. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend them and would give them 6 stars if that was an option. read more
