Grace in Motion is highly recommended if you need virtually any type of medical assistance equipment. My wife injured her foot and after multiple x rays and finally an MRI fracture was identified in her heel. She was given a cast boot and instructed to remain off of it for 6-8 weeks. With one call and an immediate visit to " Grace in Motion" I left with the required wheelchair...total time less than 30 minutes, with instructions for use and a very flexible rental agreement. Grace in Motion was the only place in the DMV area that went above and beyond in terms of customer service. I called them last minute, and was feeling frazzled as my Dad was coming home from the hospital. They understood that a same-day delivery would really make a huge difference, even though I figured it was a long shot. My husband took a fall that left him unable to walk unassisted 10 days before Christmas and totally unable to mount 2 flights of stairs in our split-level house. On virtually one day's notice, in the week before Christmas, Rick and his team installed two stair lifts, which made it possible for my husband to remain in the house for what turned out to be the last 10 months of his life. What a God send! I rented a mobility scooter for a family weekend in DC. Grace in Motion delivered the scooter to the hotel on the day of my arrival. After a small learning curve, the scooter worked phenomenally! I was pleasantly surprised at how long the charge lasted-even over the cold weekend! We only recharged on the day it was in the 30's! The unit I received was well past point of either retirement or complete overhaul. Key switch was failing, unit stopped and refused to move with a complete charge three times in DC. Found the switches and knobs were all worn so unit had to have power to wheels released and reset and motor reset multiple times. Unit also didn't arrive to me until 9pm on day due so wound up paying for a day of no availability and company refused to reimburse me. Never again! read more

Awful. Their website is straight out of 1995. They don't answer the phone. They don't return calls. They don't honor the prices advertised on their website (wanted me to pay for a week rental when I only needed it for about 4 hours). And they're only open during the business day (M-F 9-5). All the other reviews raved about how helpful they were and how easy they were to work with. For, me it seemed they would really rather not do any business at all. read more

I could not be more impressed with Rick and his team here. I found myself needing a wheelchair after surgery on my leg and sent my mom over here to get me one and Rick assisted her (and has helped me several times since). He is SO friendly and knowledgeable about the different things he carries. I have been so impressed not only with the availability of things they had, but how nice they have been. When my mom first picked up the wheelchair, Rick offered her long legs for the wheelchair, that apparently my legs were still too long for, so when we returned the next day, Brian helped us find a slightly longer one (it turns out, it was really just all the swelling because now the leg we have is actually longer than I need, but it's adjustable so it works perfectly). He told us about slightly easier models to maneuver around in, depending on my needs. When I had to extend the rental, twice, Rick was absolutely amazing. He even said since I needed four weeks, he would extend my rental to the one month discounted price for me. He was super helpful when I said I also needed a knee scooter and again briefed me on other, easier to get around in, wheelchair versions they have. I really hope I never NEED to use Grace in Motion again (fingers crossed I don't break myself again), but I am so glad Google sent me their way. Needed a recliner after a medical procedure. Spoke with Rick, he delivered a chair. He did not inform me that there are different sizes/lengths of these chairs. The one he delivered was too short for me. I tried to make it work, was not going to happen. Grace in Motion did not have a longer chair that they could provide. We agreed that I would be returned the amount left on my bill. I found a chair that did meet my needs at a different distributor. I have tried countless times to contact Rick about the return of the balance. He will not return my calls. No check in the mail. He seemed like a nice guy until...what a lousy business man and way to do business. read more

Extraordinary! I bought a scooter from Pender Regift. The gentleman warned me that it didn't work but it was exceptionally clean and lit up. They helped me load it in my minivan and I headed to Grace in Motion. I got lost in that corner of Vienna so I called the shop and they diagnosed where I was and gave me working directions on how to get there. I arrived at the shop and the owner came to the van, took it out showing me how to disassemble the machine, flicked it from free-wheeling to drive and it came to life instantly. He placed his foot in front of the scooter and observed the torque. He said it was adequate. I asked him to check out the batteries. He connected my charger and said the charging voltage was higher than he was used to seeing but probably functional. He took the battery box apart and measured the voltage while charging and under load. He assured me they had some life left in them. He had a new technician observe and gently transferred his obvious expertise. I was tempted to get a second battery box and batteries and he advised not spending the money until range was diminished. He asked how tall my wife was and lowered the seat appropriately. He tested the horn and the headlight, put it all back together, reloaded the scooter in my minivan. I got out my wallet and tried to pay him. He graciously declined. He suggested I encourage my wife to choose an outing that she really wanted to experience. Maybe we will do Meadow Gardens tomorrow. read more

I was having a great deal of trouble climbing up and down stairs in my home. Because of that I was considering knee replacement surgery. While I was deciding whether or not to have the surgery I decided to look for a stairlift to make it easier for me to go up and down the steps. I knew very little about stairlifts and how they worked. I shopped several companies that sold stairlifts before I found Rick. The sales people at the other companies were knowledgeable about the models they were selling but weren't able to help me understand the installation and use of the stairlift. Sales, installation, repair, etc were each handled by separate people with the companies I visited. Rick knows everything there is to know about stair lifts because he has experience with all parts of the business. He helped me find the lift that was right for me, suggested how it would be best installed to suit the way I needed to use it and answered every single question my daughter and I had. He is such a pleasure to work with. His knowledge and kindness were enough to convince me to make the purchase and take a chance that the stairlift was what I needed to make my life easier. Rick is a man of his word. He calls when he says he will, emails promptly with answers to your questions and does everything he can to make sure you leave his business happy. He is proud of his work and it shows. My stairlift was installed quickly and well by Brian. After Brian left I was pushing a wrong button on the stair lift and it wasn't doing what I thought it should do. I called him and Brian came back to my house within the same day without charging me to show me what I was doing wrong. Rick and Brian even figured out a way to install the track so I could keep my pet gate at the top of the steps to keep my puppy from falling downstairs. The stair lift has made such a difference in my life. I am glad I purchased it when I did because all elective surgeries were postponed during the pandemic so my knee surgery is still in the future. I would definitely recommend Grace in Motion to anyone who enjoys dealing with professional friendly people who do what they say they will do and are interested in keeping the customer happy. When my scooter stopped working on a Friday morning, they came to pick it up and brought a loaner scooter for me to use until mine was fixed although I had not even asked for it. Rented scooter to get around while taking grandkids to visit DC. Scooter was at hotel when we arrived, it was easy to disassemble and carry in car, the battery life was amazing (all day in DC and it never moved off full), it was easy to operate, and we just left it with the desk at the hotel when we left.
