It was our first night of vacation & we were looking for a place to watch the MLB playoffs. A quick search for bars nearby led us to McMahon's. The place had plenty of big TVs showing all sorts of sports events, and was comfortably spacious, enough so that there were many (obviously regular) patrons but we didn't have to yell to hear one another. The bartender, Jerry, was absolutely wonderful. Every bar could use a Jerry. His stories, attentiveness, and kindness made our night ! Since I prefer wine to beer, I was pleasantly surprised that they offered my favorite white wine (Cavit Pinot Grigio) alongside their lengthy tap list. The menu looked good, typical pub grub, but we had already eaten a huge dinner. McMahon's made us feel at home even though we are a thousand miles away from home. We will probably watch a couple more games there before we leave the city ! read more

The food is not good, and the draft beer is not fresh. The chicken sandwhich, for 15 bucks, was mediocre at best. Maybe if you aren't doing a lot of business it's time to stop deluding yourself that you can move 15 different kegs at the same time? I switched to bottled beer after trying two different drafts. McMahon's is just like any other sports/Irish bar in NYC. It's always a good time and everyone's easy going. However, even with two floors, it can still get crowded because it's by the Barclays Center. Stop by before or after a game and you won't be disappointed. Came here on a Tuesday night around 8 to watch the Islanders game. I was with a party that had rented out the upstairs. By the way, the bathrooms were very clean...because it matters lol. The atmosphere is very nice. The bar was not very crowded in our service was very good. Was disappointed in my order of the Irish breakfast. The black pudding was so dried out it was tasteless and the Irish bacon was also dried out. I was not asked how I wanted my eggs done. This needs to be improved. I had my bridal shower in their event space on the second floor this past weekend and I cannot say enough good things about our experience! The owner Mike was extremely helpful and easy to work with. The price for the space, food and drink package was great and the people that worked there and helped with our party were second to none. I highly recommend this space for any party or event - you will not be disappointed. Everyone that walked in commented how spacious and beautiful the upstairs was. We had great weather and were able to use the outdoor terrace space as well. I cannot wait for a reason to throw another party/event at Mcmahon's. In the meantime I will hangout on the first floor and enjoy the bar, TVs, food and great staff. read more

You guys, McMahon's has Carlsberg! Okay, okay, I get that this might not be the most exciting news on Yelp today, but after a visit to the Carlsberg brewery in Denmark a few years back, I perk up just a little bit whenever I see their endearing logo on the front of a bar in NYC . It beckons me and I must enter and have a pint, no matter what. That's exactly what I did this past Sunday. My boyfriend and I were searching for a sports bar to watch his Eagles, and that lovely logo popped into view. If I HAVE to watch the Eagles, it might as well be while drinking a Carlsberg. We moseyed in, and walked to the big room in the back, since there weren't seats available at the bar. The back room is lined with TVs, and we were easily able to pick a table with the best view for the game. He ordered some wings and waffle fries, and I got a corned beef sandwich that was on the specials (I believe it was called the Brooklynator. The food was solid pub food. The waffle fries were just the right amount of crispy, and I don't think I need to tell you again that I was pleased with the beer. Service was wonderful and attentive. After the game, we waved goodbye to the enormous taxidermy moose head by the door and were on our way! read more

This place is a solid 3 stars. Stopped in for food after having drinks at another neighborhood bar. The space itself is quite large. A nice sized bar area in the front and an equally nice sized dining area in the back. The bar area had quite a few people lingering around enjoying themselves and watching a soccer game at the time. The dining area was practically empty. We took a seat at one of the high top tables in the bar area. The bartender came from behind the bar and took our orders. She was not the most friendly or pleasant person but she did her job. I had the buffalo wings which were pretty solid. My friend had chicken fingers in which he enjoyed. If you're coming from the Barclay's Center and need a night cap and quick tasteless bar food, this is your spot. But there are a lot of bars and restaurants in competition with the pre and post stadium folks so you might find a better place if you stroll a few blocks further down 5th avenue. I've been here a few times because they open early-ish on the weekends it's nice to have an open air bar to your self on a Saturday morning when you want to take in a soccer game. Big space, few people. They could make this place great if the bartenders were more personable, knowledgable of the sport they're advertising, and for crissakes, a better menu. You're competing with at least 4 other bar/restaurants within a block of each other. Try harder. Their bloody Marys are poured straight from a Mrs. Ts bottle! Try harder. I came here after a hiatus of a couple weeks only to get a bloody Mary in a tiny tumbler glass. What?!? And still the same price I got it in a pint glass a few weeks earlier. Who makes bloody Marys in tumblers!?!? Try harder! They have this giant bar. Beautiful upstairs that's only for big parties. What!!! The only place with a upstairs outdoor space and you don't use it!!!?? Oh right, you have no customers except drunk folks after an event at Barclays. Try harder. Great place to hangout before a show. Exceptionally crowded and still received great service

This is the neighborhood sports bar I've always wanted. They have 10 TVs and one giant screen over the bar. The space is huge and great for groups.. plenty of tables and a nice long bar with plenty of seats. The upstairs lounge is an equally large, beautiful space. There are fewer TVs but there are some comfy-looking couches instead and plenty of tables. There's even an outdoor patio with picnic benches! We came for a Giants game and loved the vibe- we felt right at home as everyone cheered them on. It all added to a really great atmosphere. Boyfriend approved! Even better, their prices for food and beer are very affordable. It's not a craft beer bar, but they did have Brooklyn, Captain Lawrence, and Founders on tap when we visited, so it was a decent selection. I can't wait to return for a real dinner so I can try their Irish fare. The zucchini sticks ($8) weren't really sticks (they were more like zucchini chips) and could have benefitted from a thinner coat of batter. They still tasted great though. The real winner was the potato bites ($7), which were fried balls of deliciousness with potato, peas, cheese, and (?) carrots inside. They even came with a tasty Guinness and cheddar sauce. Came in for some basketball. Sat at the bar for ten minutes while bartenders paraded back and forth doing nothing while other bartenders held conversations with other patrons. When finally given some attention we asked for menus but then had to hound the guy down once again to place our order. Did I mention there were maybe ten people in total at the bar? With two bartenders, a server and a bar back? So the service shouldn't have been anything less than great. For food we had the "bangers and mash", onion rings and jerk chicken wings. The BnM seemed like frozen sausage along side instant mashed potatoes. The onion rings were definitely frozen imitation like rings and the wings were sub par. For an Irish pub they failed miserably! As for the service, where doI begin??? There were two bartenders both of which completely ignored us. Not once did the guy who was primarily serving us come and ask if we needed anything or was everything good with our food. When brought to his attention his excuse was we don't like to hover over our customers. Bro, we weren't asking you to hover but it would've been nice if you made sure all was well with our food and drinks. After we voice our frustrations about our service (or lack there of) he just walks away. No apology. No nothing. Just walked off. Is this how your employees are trained to deal with customers? My brother then decides to leave a note on the back of the check, old school style. After he writes it the other bartender (blonde woman) then decides to ask if everything is ok. He proceeds to tell her all of our frustrations and her reply is 'OK'. Wow! I'm impressed by the level of customer service you teach your employees to provide. I've frequented plenty of restaurants in this neighborhood. Loonnggg before your establishment was probably even a thought. And I've never dealt with such disrespect. So much more went on that's not even worth repeating. I regret being able to give this place even one star. P.S. I ended up at a bar down the street. We had such a great first impression of McMahon's. Two of us walked in maybe 90 minutes before an Islanders game, looking for friends who were meeting us there. A man (host? assistant manager?) immediately spotted us and asked if we wanted to be seated; when we said we were looking for friends who may or may not be there yet, he encouraged us to look around. It was already pretty busy, we were lost and in the way, and all he greeted us with was kindness and a smile. Not finding our friends, he graciously took a "reserved" sign off a table and let us snag it! Pretty solid beer list -- really, there's something on it for everyone. The "event" menu is limited, as others have mentioned, with I recall only one vegetarian option (penne with vodka sauce). That was disappointing, but it's something I generally expect with Irish pubs. Their regular menu does include a veggie burger (I wish it were on the event menu too!). I had some fries; they were solid. Everyone in our group enjoyed either the burger or the chicken parm sub. Food orders seemed to slow down significantly once it was about an hour from puck drop, and our waitress got the last round of beers wrong, but I chalk that up to a very busy kitchen and bar (everyone eventually got their food, as ordered and hot off the line, and an incorrect beer is still a beer. We didn't say anything because we got how busy everyone was). Overall, I'd say this is a pretty great pub. The ambiance was cozy, friendly, and fun on a week night/game night. TVs were well-located above the bar and easy to see. The staff were agreeable, especially whoever greeted us. I'd go back! read more

Great new bar on 5th ave on Park Slope. Obviously it is very nice since it is smells like new, but this is a solid all wood Irish Bar. Huge space. I heard that there will be a Tiki Bar on the roof (in a few weeks) and a 2nd floor bar. I wish they had a better happy hour, but the tap selection is great. read more

Before the Black Keys/ Cage The Elephant concert tonight my friend and I decided to meet up at this bar first. Grabbed a couple of drinks and caught up. Nothing in particular stood out to me. The beers seemed ok priced, not expensive. Depending on what time of day you get there this place is spacious and has plenty of seating. I really dig the location, super close to Atlantic Terminal/ Barclay Center. This is def a cool spot to hang out with a couple of friends and chill or watch any of the games and if they are broadcasting. I think the only complaint I have is that the music got way too lout and I felt like everyone was yelling over each other and the music. But I guess it's like that at any bar you hit up. read more

Walked in McMahon for the first time. While we waited for our event at the Barclays. We was seated right away. We ordered drinks(tequila sunrise) drinks were amazing. One of our orders we're messed up. We ordered the fan tail shrimp with sweat potatoe fries and buffalo wrap. The buffalo wrap was good. But the shrimp came over a penne noodles. We weren't going to send it back the other party bit one and it didn't taste good. So we asked for it to be off our bill. The waitress came out to show us that she wrote the right order but the busboy brought the wrong dish to the wrong table. Five minutes later they brought that same dish to another table with the bitten shrimp on it. read more

Because there was a "game night" menu, it was pretty limited, and that's being extremely generous. The buffalo chicken wrap wasn't really anything to write home about, and paying $12 for it, well, seemed just way too overpriced. The sauce was your basic Franks, again, nothing to write home about and for a dozen wings? Way over priced. Drinks? Overpriced.. Maybe if you're local, and can go when it's not so crowded and they have a regular menu, it might be better, but if you're just visiting for a game or show, I'm not sure where else is decent, but next time I'm in the area, I'll be looking for that. read more

We came here for the Nets and Celtics game. Michael the manager was great to work with. I've only been to the bar on the first floor before but they actually have an upstairs that's great, open, nice outdoor patio, lots of seating, coat racks, bathrooms... we had a big group of adults and kids and this was perfect, offered us the room to hang in a pretty private area. The kids loved it. The outdoor patio is great for birthday parties, large groups. Will def be back. The food was really good too for a bar. And happy hour drinks, very reasonably priced. The beer is good for the price but the food SUCKED. We ordered the wings and that was probably the only good part to our meal. We were in the mood for pub food so naturally we ordered the nachos. When they came out, I got a plate of 10 chips, a tube of cold velveeta, and cold chili dumped onto a plate. So disgusting that I had to send it back and make sure I wasn't charged for it. We were all so disappointed and most likely won't come back, for the food at least. If I'm in the area and we want a beer and this happens to be the nearest bar, then I'd consider it but would definitely think twice.
